Re: the name "Durga"

According to dictionary.com, Durga also means "The Inaccessable". Considering the AI is unable to view itself (see: Reflected) it seems fitting.
(yes, I'm sure it was mentioned before. Don't trout the answer, trout the question!)

PS. I was wondering if anyone cought on to the minor detail that was dropped in four_goats.wav, specifically:

Quote:
Hiroyuki: Someone who needs her dates arranged from 42 light years away, I'm sure she has a great personality

So we know that Kamal's mother is on a planet called Coral, and that Coral is 42 light years away from Earth. Which stars are 42 light years away? I've found a couple so far:
Capella, (Alpha Aurigae)
Denebola, (Beta Leonis)
*37 Gem (Gemini) * Interesting Link: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/3177684.stm
CURRENT BEST ATTEMPT AT MERGED SOUND FILES

http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=61567#61567

Please note the thread linked above is for piecing together the .wav file puzzle only.

Perhaps nothing will happen once all the sound files are revealed, perhaps the Queen(or the flea, since we're not sure exactly how much control he has assumed over her) will continue contacting us until all 210 axons have gone hot, since her primary purpose in this is contacting her crew..

[SPEC]

Alright, the thing that is bugging me the most right now is the progress bar at the top of the Fun Stuff Page. There are not 777 nodes which has been mentioned before. But as we light up the axons the number increases. I really think we should be looking for more coordinates in these sound files.

The content of the story being told, while entertaining, is not worthy of the trouble that the Operator went through to transmit them and they also don't seem likely to be furthering the flea's alternate agenda. The Truth (capitalized) seems much bigger than 3 loosely related conversations.

I've opened up a few of the wavs with wordpad. Namely those with the rewinding sounds, i found nothing coherent and lack a good hex editor to open the thing up properly.

Anyone out there willing to blow a few hours?

edit - to Theo above, you gotta wait another hour =p

Axons

Take 777 and subtract 210 and you have 567.

567 is still divisible by 7 so they could release another set of axons in two 30x7 sets with a final 21x7 set.

Maybe not required to get them all, just enough. She's contacting her crew:

Quote:
By broadcasting the voices to my crew, they will be able to assess the damage.
Once assessed, the damage can be repaired.

Once we light-up enough axons, we should be able to give her enough information to repair the damage.

I agree with you. There's a lot of significant 7s and 3s appearing in the wav's - chapters 3 & 7, 3 new messages, 7 old messages, 30 hours, security-cam 34, 129er (129 is the sum of 3 squares 4 different ways), 3 story building, but there are also non-fitting numbers - age 17, security cam 45, sentry 1-6, 12G, 513 days, age 41, 4th floor, etc.

Has to be something there, but can random conversations hide numerology?

Here's my spec. 30 conversations = 3 telephone numbers. She's looking for contact. My guess is that each conversation = one number on the dial.

I've gone through the files with a hex editor courtesy of Avatrix and found nothing of importance in the .wavs
These aren't hiding anything in source code but they might be in meaning.

What I find interesting is that they're .wavs, not a compressed format. Either someone has bandwidth to burn (which is likely, given that Microsoft is probably backing this thing), or there might be something in the source files. Given the popularity of those files, it's pretty strange that they wouldn't compress them, unless the compression might destroy something in the files themselves. Perhaps there is something more subtle at work there?

Or it could be so that they're easier to independantly combine then if they were pure mp3s which would have to be uncompressed then combined then compressed. Thats if i can remember how to use my audio editors.

Ho there Antiarc. Can the Dramallama be far behind? Smile

I've been editing those files this afternoon. Though they have the .wav extension, they are in fact mp3 compressed, in stereo and at 22khz quality.

somebody said that the files are actually mp3s with a wav extension. this seems to make sense with the file sizes and some players not handling the files right. its only 10 megs for like (guessing) 15-20 minutes. regular wav files would take about 10 times that much space for that time.

sorry for the repeat, i didnt know frithweaver beat me to it.
