And Chrysolite is a type of golden peridot

Edit:
THe following url is a translation of the Hebrew Wikipedia talking about oracle. (unfortunately I cannot read hebrew Wink and the translation tool is a far from perfect). It gives us the idea that Oracles are objects (rather than the notion that an oracle is a person) I suppose like a liahona or director. I wasn't sure but at the end they seem to say that the oracle was the same as (or at least related to) the Urim and Thummim.

[tinyurl'd ugly, ungainly long url that broke the forum width - Gupfee]

Edit: Thanks Gupfee

@Daeld: email replies. esp. from our PM should nevah be spoilered..spoilers are only for solves and meta-spoilers.

Hebrew, Oracle, and peridot leads me toward Kabbalah.

BTW, got a response after asking if we were supposed to help the spiders:

The fish represents something or someone having to find a new place to live.Habitat no longer suiting.

The island has a big story,Peridot has nothing to do with the fish.
Read about the island.I will post somewhat of a recap tonight, kinda put things together a little.
A lot of this game has to do with places ,we are in a certain area of the world right now.
I do not want to tell to much.
You are a real good player.
Thank you

which leads to the post:

Thus Far

Ezekiel 1:4/Ezekiel 1:16-21

Chrysolite is olivine used to hold metal casings together durind forging.

The fish represents someone or something needing a new habitat.

Peridot is the only gemstone found in meteorites.

Read about Zagbargad island.

Everything makes a bit more sense to me now because of that e-mail.

I emailed the PM and asked:

A. do the spiders needed chrysolite/olivine/peridot
B. are the spiders a metaphor for a group of people.

the reply:
Quote:
Yes and yes

EDIT:

I sent this email and it got posted on the site so I'm guessing its in the right direction:

Quote:
The Spiders are alien to our planet, for some unknown reason they needed to leave their home. But our planet is the only place they could go, yet it was hostile to them, either by physical environment or because we already inhabit it. Peridot is found in meteorites and chrysolite/olivine is mentioned in Ezekiel which could quite possibly be alluding to an alien ship. Maybe Peridot/chrysolite/olivine is an element here in common with their home environment thus attracting them to Zagbargad Island, due to its higher than normal presence there.

BTW the site banner is now updated to hieroglyphics and the bottom right has a phrase with a few links:
Quote:
Darkness fell,Not the firt time
502 BC - December 4 Solar eclipse darkens Egypt. (computed, no clear historical record of observation)

That last part may have been there, but I don't remember it.

Either case it seems Egypt may be our next step?

Looking @ the updates on the home-of-the-spiders

Can anyone decode the hieroglyphs? (They may just be random ones for their aesthetically pleasing appearance, but I've seen English alphabet codes using hieroglyphs...)

Edit: Never mind, it just says Spider of the Web

(see www.quizland.com/hiero.htm for the "code")

Bottom corner updated:

Quote:
Solar eclipse over the Nile Delta. The Egyptians worshiped the sun, but they didn't record them maybe because they were so bad you couldn't talk about them. Or maybe all that was lost. Maybe the pyramids are inspired by solar eclipses.... Vistations from space spiders. The next one is July 22.

*looking up Egyptian solar eclipses*

From Wikipedia
Quote:
The solar eclipse that will take place on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 will be a total eclipse of the Sun with a magnitude of 1.080 that will be visible from a narrow corridor through northern India, eastern Nepal, northern Bangladesh, Bhutan, the northern tip of Myanmar, central China and the Pacific Ocean, including Ryukyu Islands, Marshall Islands and Kiribati. Totality will be visible in many cities such as Surat, Varanasi, Patna, Thimphu, Chengdu, Chongqing, Wuhan, Hangzhou and Shanghai, as well as over the Three Gorges Dam.

It will be the longest in the 21st century...
