Number posters around Seattle
Trailhead? Left over from old ARG? Something else?

I've run into sets of blue posters with numbers printed on them around Seattle and Ballard. The Seattle ones are (I think) on Mercer between Westlake and Seattle center -- I saw 'em while biking around between SIFF screenings. Ballard ones are on Market somewhere between 14th and 22nd, I think.

Anyway, these are large posters, each with one or two digits, pasted up like so many festival or otherwise adverts. The numbers are:

... 17 18 21 11 10 6 17 18 21 11 10 6 17 18 21 ... [repeating]

With spaces indicating breaks between posters.

Anyway, has anyone else seen these? Any thoughts as to meaning?

17 18 21 11 10 6
could be respaced into a phone number 1-718-xxx-xxx
but it's a New York state area code

Just to clarify, there are individual posters but displayed in sequence next to one another? The sequence doesn't necessarily begin with 17 if you're joining the repetion "in progress". (but the photo below does clarify this, thanks!)

Are these perhaps jersey numbers for a sports team?

I finally wrangled the picture off of my iPhone (harder than you'd think, under linux, without wireless). See attached.

The numbers do continue around the building to the left, same sequence.

My first thought was IP Address but, too many numbers?

Is this the only building they're on, or are there more???

Using Google street view, I think the building in the Seattle photo is on Mercer street between 8th and 9th Ave, across from a "UW Medicine Lake Union" (University of Washington School of Medicine, Lake Union), but I haven't found out what business is located there. But if that's the building, they've postered over the windows visible with Street View.

I used to work at the hotel right there. There is no business there - they're doing construction.

The posters in Ballard are at the corner of Market and 17th. Just got some pictures with my digital camera only to realize that I have no idea where the USB cable for it is. Numbers on the Ballard building are the same sequence; from start to end:

21 6 10 11 18 17 21 6 10 11 18 17 21 6 10 11 (corner of building) (for lease sign) 17 21 6 10.

So that's the same pattern, but with 17 and 18 reversed and 18 skipped around the corner.

So an 18 gets skipped around the corner, but otherwise same pattern.

This is actually out of sequence compared to the picture you posted above?

Yeah, it's out of sequence. So maybe sequence isn't important or maybe someone made a mistake.

Yeah, silly public art is an option; seems like a lot of work for no meaning (but, then, there are things like Carnegie Mellon's Kraus Campo.)
