Hmm...The phone number no longer works.
"no longer" implies that it once did work, but I do not think that is the case. The number (881) 222-6666 is not a valid area code, not a valid phone exchange at all, so it never could have worked. The lack of a trailhead here only increases the mystery.

Mysterious mental institution? My interest is caught.
The brochure doesn't really lend itself to anything. It's all pretty generic and that includes the images used. Though, it does make mention of a website. I haven't found anything on that yet. Everything on goggle is about all the game groups that have received the brochure and post card. There are QUITE a few of them.
EDIT: There is a Bright Dawn Meditation Center, but I doubt they're related. This one is in Plymouth, Wisconsin.
As Mondo mentioned, Alan Wake is a possibility. This may come in handy, as it seems Mondo has already posted there. I may be being redundant, but it's here anyway:

EDIT EDIT: So, people from Remedy (those working on AW) don't know anything about it, so it's possible it's not related at all. On the other hand, there are some daunting similarities.

I figured it was video game related as it seems that the majority of people that received these are game websites in some form or another.

Sorry, one of the articles talking about it mentioned getting through to the number which is why I said "no longer". I'll have to dig up which one.

This looks interesting. Interesting model. The centre administrator is a doctor of psychology. In australia, the clinical governance would be through the medical doctors, so I would have expected the administrator to be a psychiatrist rather than a psychologist...maybe you do things differently north america...anyway, it looks interesting. I'll lurk...

Well I am guessing that in AUS these are run by the government? In this case it would be a private institution run by whoever they chose to run it.
This would be a good fit for an insomniac writer called A.Wake (I always laugh when I type that) when Bright Dawn helps people with sleeping problems (Im sure I read that in the brochure somewhere)

I meant a private psychiatric facility would have the clinical governance through the psychiatrists. In the public hospitals anyone in the team can be appointed (ie a psychologist, OT, SW, nurse, etc) for out-patient services. However, even in the public system (and always in the private system) the director will be a psychiatrist if there are in-patient services or if specialised treatments such as ECT and TMS are provided.
Not a big deal, but just interesting to note that this is a private facility, has inpatients as well as outpatients, provides ECT and yet the administrator is a psychologist (not that they can't do it, but it is just uncommon...)
Alternatively, the authors may not know the difference between a psychiatrist and a psychologist

This is connected to the DS Game Dementium II
It's a sequel to a Survival Horror First Person shooter on the DS. It's a fun game.
Here's a Bright Dawn themed trailer: http://gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=84411

No... Just because you see a video which seems to explain the cause of the trailhead by no means does it imply it's over.
They wouldn't have sent out those snail-mail packages if that's all that was going to occur.
Someone needs to go through that video as much as we need to wait on the outcome of sending the postcards back...
ETA: After reading the page again, maybe it is over... Pretty poorly done if it is though, one snail package then the reveal video??

Love that video, by the way. It's delightfully off.

There could be more I suppose. I expect the game will be actually shown at E3 next week, which leaves time before it comes out.
Who knows.
