The spelling mistakes are there for a reason right? I'm trying to figure it out but I just don't get it, hope you guys have more luck
I'm with you on this one. There's significance behind the mistakes. Either "The Nitti Family" is a coincidental find and not what we're looking for, or we're on track but the wrong letters have some other meaning behind them...something we're missing.
EDIT: Spelling mistake corrected...I suppose maybe I should start checking my work before posting. DOH!

Ok have been thinking about the 'Nitti Family' all afternoon trying to work it out. I wondered whether the 'family' might refer to the staff at the institute so I went back to have a look at the names.
Most names lead to a 'crumb' but two don't and when clicked come up as broken links - Oleg Nosovi and Luis Soto. Why only these two? It must mean something.
BUT when you click these links and get the 'oops!' page there is text in the google search box and from what I can tell from the source code this text has been put there deliberately.
For Oleg Nosovi it says: chen chi institute research no sovi
For Luis Soto it says: chen chi institute research soto
I don't know a lot about source codes and stuff so I might be way off but would someone mind having a look to confirm?
My spider sense is tingling and I have a feeling chen chi institute and the words 'no sovi' and 'soto' whatever they mean may be significant.
Have to go sort out the baby so please have a look for me! Perhaps google the terms? (I didn't get so far as to press the search button!) Be back in a bit...

Ooh should say it was a comment on the LostARG blog that made me think about the links - thanks Luke4815162342

If I click those names, a screen appears with a little mouse and the title "You be the cat"...Like every screen you get when entering the wrong URL on Chencheys Website.

Mine doesn't do that. I suppose one could create a page that looked like an automatically generated 404 page and contained additional content, but this does not appear to be one.
Mine also doesn't lead to the "you be the cat" screen. Just a regular 404 page.
EDIT: Other non-existent urls also take me to the 404 page. No r33pi.

When I searched Soto I found a wiki page about Soto Zen it's one of three sects in Japanese Buddhism. It also talks about "Dharma Transmission." Don't know if that helps you.

Okay, I don't know what this means, but it may be something. I have found several errors on Chenchey pages. I don't think they are intentional. They are as follows:
On the homepage, under "What's New?":
"Our team of researchers is always working working hard..."
On the About page:
"Influenced by Hanso's huminatarian work and drive to better mankind..."
On the Projects page:
"The Chenchey Institute prides itself on 17 years of innovative reasearch into a variety of areas of inquiry."
And finally, on the Staff page:
"Dimitri Girard Director, Electromangetic Research"
Thought provoking yes?

Ok, never mind then. Thought I was on to something there! Wonder why we're getting different screens? I've never seen the 'you be the cat' one.
I think Erin's lead is more promising... the mistakes must be there deliberately!

Don't feel left out, I've never seen it either.
