Yeah the box has been opened already, revealed a message, some drawings and a splicer mask...thats it. also the reason for the left/right thing was to take you to more info on the floor and tables, but it has been cleaned up and filed in the filing cabinet.

there you go...up to date...check the older posts...

the audio is good though...but i cant make out what that man is saying...also a little girl and a woman can be heard

anyway i've sent my letter...damn I hope it works or Im gonna be super bummed...this better be a full fledged ARG!

Awesome thxs Compulsivejoe for the heads up! =)

Coffees on and fresh.. lol.. Going to try and mess with that audio a bit..

hmm that mask is the mask of the new apex splicer (predator splicer) i know this because a magazine had a pic of him with that exact black mask...its busted up a bit so maybe the big sister killed the owner in a fight...ign sais it can take on a big daddy even...so maybe if this box is a way to lure mark to rapture...then maybe...this mask can disguise him in rapture?

someone had a similar thought earlier in the thread, and it seems plausible.

For the audio, I can say that the brief snatch of music with what sounds like a woman's voice is the 'Rise Rapture Rise' audio. It plays in Fort Frolic and you can hear it everytime you start up the game, at the 2k logo if I remember correctly. (It's the one with the grammaphone/record player)

I too have sent a letter to Meltzer's PO Box. I sent it on Friday (5-29), have not gotten a return to sender as of yet so that's slightly promising.

this is a good read, thanks for the link.

i am sending out my letter today, from north central illinois. wish us all luck. unfortunately, i won't be on for the rest of the day, that pesky "work" thing, but i'll be on when i get home.

edit: work was cancelled (factory work, go fig.), so i'll be about. I was part of the TDK ARG, as an oracle, so people new to ARGs that have questions about how it is played, feel free to ask. if i can't answer, i'll find someone for you that can.

Anybody sending from the East Coast, especially the New York Area? They may have a special chance with their letters.

Edit: I'm sending from Indiana, myself.

in short, i stated that i was requesting all the info he could send, for research purposes.

from mail experience around here (Rockford area, Illinois), it should take about 5 business days (a week) to get there.

EDIT: if anyone is checking out the audio, see if you can get anything out of the audio on the map, too... it may corelate to the audio on the radio in the main room.

Speculation: is that the "pattern" referred to in the note on the map?

New Observation:

The only folder accessible in the bottom drawer is labeled "May 22 - 28".

however, it's full of info from before that time, and there is other info from around that time on the map and other areas that fit that time, but are not in there.

Supposition: could that be the timeline (real time) to track when things are found? it fits when the site was found, and the game started...

I've been lurking for awhile and I'm going to send out a letter. Is this the correct addy?:

Mark Meltzer
P.O. Box 4668
New York, NY 10163

Thanks guys, just trying to clarify.

Thanks muchly! I now have an idea of what to send. I was really boggled by that for some reason.

Sound- I've noticed the map and the raido are very similar if not the same sounds. However the map has more of an "ocean" sound to it. More waves if that makes sense.

The pattern seems to be the type of girl kidnapped, and maybe the frequency of the abductions and locations. But definitely the type of kid.

And looking at the site, the address is...

Mark Meltzer
P.O. Box 4668 #32890
New York, NY 10163

Least that's what it says on the form on the wall.

well, i don't think they are the same sounds, but they are very similar. i've tried playing both at the same time, but it doesn't yield anything. (i was thinking that the two of them together would make one complete sound set...)

RE: the overall pattern that i've noticed:

*Female
*approx. 5-7 years old
*straight, dark, shoulder-length hair (brunette to black, presumably)
*living in coastal areas along the northern hemisplere, atlantic ocean
*Taken during a 8 month span between late February, and late October, 1967
*land-based pattern of a rough ellipse (oval), when seen plotted on the map

EDIT#2: thanks to kano_yume for giving me Cindy's disappearance dates...

EDIT: i'm noticing a pattern in the dates on the map.

with the exception of the last one, all of the numbers could fit with a substitution cypher.
23 1 19 7 13 11 18 22 13 17(3/14) 23 6 48(19/29)

the ones in () are to the end of the month, where there is an undated X on the map.

if anyone comes up with anything, please let us know...
