Madrigals

Here all this time, we have a WARNING ...

BEWARE THE MADRIGALS

Hmmm .... I have a theory ...
Maybe I should put a spoiler around all this just in case ...

Do we know the wife's name of Gideon? <-- Thanks Snuibi

Gideon & Madeleine --- Original Cahills brother and sister, perhaps?
The 4 children then made up the family branches L, J, E, T

I believe the Cahills (those that have remained Cahills) are the Madrigals.
Funny how we never know the branch of Grace, although she exhibits all traits of the 4 branches. One of my 4th grade girls who is an EKAT is convinced Grace was an Ekat due to the dragons on the carpet leading to A&D's escape from the burning library ... and the jade necklace. But I beg to differ. I like to see their reasoning.

Now we factor Mr. McIntyre into the equation ... funny how he seems to be watching over A&D ... and having people in place at the right moment and the right time to assist/betray them.

Man in Black ... I am sure everyone concludes he is Fiske ... he seems to be the right age ... and he is also "friendly" with the other branch leaders and also appears to be overseeing everything as well.

Beware the Madrigals ... I think Amy & Dan will discover that they too are Madrigals ... and thus rightly so for the other branches ... Beware.[spoiler]

What do you all think?

Actually in book 3 says it's Gideon and Olivia Cahill the original cahills(page 105:"Ah,yes,the ever-glamourous Gideon and Olivia,the original cahills,painted in the early 1500's,Ian said")

That's really very interesting. And it begs the question "what are the Madrigal's true intentions?"

From the new cards we've got three of the four branches slogans as it were.

Janus - Art Above All
Lucian - Revenge Above All
Tomas - Might Above All

and from those I think we can conclude that the Ekaterina's are probably "Knowledge/Intelligence Above All".

This leaves the Madrigals, and if it's the Lucians who are so interested in revenge, than why would the Madrigals be doing that too? Why not just join the Lucians and then destroy them from within once the others were taken care of?

This leads me to believe the Madrigals are more about keeping the four branches in check. We've not had anything happen to any of the teams from some unseen entity nor have we seen any direct action by the Madrigals against anyone. So why is everyone afraid of them then? Why fear someone who never makes an appearance?

I think we're going to find the Madrigals much harder to pin down, both in their strengths and in their motives. It's likely that book five will be our first actual taste of Madrigal involvement, but I doubt anything concrete will come along until book nine or ten.

You're thinking of two different Ludwigs. Ludwig von Beethoven is Janus, King Ludwig of Bavaria aka Mad King Ludwig may or may not have been an Ekat, the only thing the cards seem to confirm is that the Ekats brought about the claims of his madness and his eventual death.

Madeleine is sister to Jane and all the others!If not why in card 61 (CARNIVAL) there is a Black caracter in the picture?Because the Venice Carnival is used for branch meeting!(maybe it's a secret branch that only branch leaders and their children know about it!)

Well, considering it is a secret, the "Mad" part is the Ekat part. But Mad King Ludwig is a Janus. He even has a letter in the Janus Archives.

I am actually replying to the Madelaine post. But this post is shorter.
I think that your theory might work. The Cahills are actually madrigals. the only problem is, where does she come in. As parent, child or aunt. Amy and Dan are going to be so surprised to find out there branch.
