Why does this remind me a bit of The Home Office, just wondering, if anyone else got that same vibe.

So your missing letters are pagdi.

PAGDI:
Quote:
The pagdi or turban is not only something to decorate the head with, it is not just a long piece of cloth, it is a symbol of honour, bravery and respect. The pagdi is an integral part of culture. It enhances beauty and it provides specific identity. From the pagdi it is possible to tell where the person wearing it, is from, what his social status and financial position is, what his nature is; it can also tell us whether it is being worn on a happy or a sad occasion. In the market pagdis of all ranges are available but its worth cannot be bought with money. The pagdi is something to be looked upon with respect and deep regard, hence not to be sold or purchased. Disrespect to the pagdi often led to a war within moments in past history.

If the pagdi can be the cause of bloodshed, it can also bind people together. The feuds between Emperor Babar and Rana Sanga, and those between Babar's grandson Akbar and Rana Sanga's grandson Rana Pratap are well known. Rivers of blood flowed and the flames of jauhar rose high in the sky. But over and above all this bloodshed, the pagdi, which signifies respect, brotherhood and status made it possible for the grandsons of Akbar and Pratap's to become very good friends for life. These two exchanged pagdis and became brothers. The pagdi which Shahzada Khurram put on Rana Karni Singh's head is even today present in the museum at Udaipur as a living proof of the custom which they started by exchanging pagdi and becoming brothers.

There are several interesting incidents related to the pagdi. On the orders of Emperor Mohammad Shah, the Maharaja of Jodhpur, marched to war with Sabaland Khan, who was Subedar of Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Rivers of blood flowed. Sarbaland Khan was forced to lay down his arms. After this defeat Sarbaland Khan decided to test his last armour, which was his pagdi.

He took off his pagdi and put it on Maharaja Abhay Singh's head. Here again the pagdi proved its strength and power. After the pagdis were exchanged and they became brothers by this custom, Maharaja Abhay Singh respected and followed the dictates of this custom.

He allowed Sarbaland to go in peace with his family and also to take with him wealth and riches. It is permissible to let the head be cut but the pagdi, which lies on top of it, must never be disrespected by being bent in front of anyone.

Further research suggests that the Pagdi is of Indian decent.

Might I suggest posting a comment on the blog asking about "Pagdi"? I would do it myself but I do not have the necessary requirement accounts to proceed with such a request for information.

And, before the accusations fly, I am not in any way, shape or form associated with this game. I am merely trying to suggest possible routes of engagement.

Personally, I would keep an eye on it but not pay it too much attention. What I mean by that is that I would take whatever occurs on the page with a grain of salt until it's connection too the game is somehow verified through game play. If the PM's do this correctly, they will be able to steer you towards the site if it is indeed IG or away from the site if it is OOG. The mere mention of it on this forum (which creators tend to view from time to time) should get the wheels turning on their end to either nip it in the bud or keep an eye on it and the players reaction too it. If it causes no threat then you probably won't hear a peep out of the PM's concerning it. If the site ends up becoming a problem then I would expect that there would be some act IG that would suggest that it is OOG. Then again, sometimes not mentioning it at all would give the impression that the site is OOG.

In short, keep an eye on it but don't let it lead you in a specific direction until the site being IG is verified through game play. That would be my suggestion.

Well, I did as BubbleBoy suggested and asked about "pagdi", and this was the response:

Quote:
ZIE: DOXL SPOHIR

Anyone know what kind of code this is?

ZIE: DOXL SPOHIR

"ZIE: DOXL SPOHIR"

I tried a couple of things, like ROT and BASE 64. Nothing popped up that interested me. So I tried translating it from another language.

"ZIE" is Dutch for "SEE", but I'm not scoring any goals on the rest of the translation. It is possible that the code is split up - meaning that "ZIE" is one type of puzzle and the rest is another. DOXL doesn't look like a word or even sound like a word, but I could be wrong. Haven't checked yet.

Also, googling DOXL SPOHIR doesn't turn up any results except for possible "Did you mean" suggestions.

I have to go to work now but if it's not solved when I get home later tonight I'll work on it some more.

You see? This is why these types of "puzzles" are my least favorites - there is no way to know if we are correct. We could guess and guess all day, but how do we know that we are going in the right direction? Puzzles should have the way to solve them inside the puzzle itself. You should never have to dig for information.

That's just a PM picking random stuff off of the internet and forcing us to search it out.

/rant

Anywho. If, and it's an "if" right now, you are correct then what does SPOHIR mean? I would hope that the way to solve "SPOHIR" is the same way that "DOXL", or in this case "DoXL", was solved. However, it is not. Meh.

At least you found something. That's more than what I was able to do. Smile
