I am on my way to the billard room to find some of these roaches. Here's TVs reply:

Quote:
You go up the stairs to the first floor, where Mr. Unsound seems to have gestured. Unfortunately, he did not tell you where on the first floor the Billiard Room could be found. While you walk, you look at the coloring book.

It is a bit odd. There are three standard, colored pencils attached to it: red, yellow, and blue. But each page seems to depict something unusual for a coloring book. They are outlines of pictures needing to be colored, but they are not the types of pictures you've ever seen in a coloring book before.

The first page shows the dead body of a man in a plaid shirt.

The second page shows a graveyard.

The third page shows three life beads.

The fourth page shows a crown.

The fifth page shows a hand reaching out of a grave.

At the bottom of every page are little pictures of roaches, drawn as if they are crawling across the bottom of the paper.

When you reach the first floor, you take a look around. There is another traveler standing next to you, apparently lost in thought.

You are in a large room with a grand staircase that goes up to the left and to the right. There is a great statue in the middle of a stout man wearing a top hat between the staircases. Behind you is a door behind you and there is another one across the room. To your right, behind the staircase, is another room. Directly to your left is an enormous door with a note on it. The note reads, "NOT TO BE OPENED WITHOUT PERMISSION."

and my answer:

XaRen wrote:
The pictures of that coloring book make me shiver a little bit. 'You knew where you are about to go, when you applied', I think to myself 'Now don't be surprised of unusual things. That's why you came here.' So far, I don't feel the need, to color any of these pictures, so I put the book into my backback. I suddenly remember, that I forgot to ask Mr. Unsound where to leave my luggage. And he didn't tell me where to stay for the night. At the moment, it doesn't matter, but I make a mental note to myself to ask him this evening or when we meet next.

I look around the room I am in. This is the place I will stay in the next days, week, month, who knows. So I need to orientate myself and get to know this place. While I look at the statue, I notice the other traveller. 'This one looks lost, somehow', so I decide to walk over and greet him. 'Attempt No. 2 to get in contact with anybody', I make another mental note. 'Hopefully this one won't ignore me'.

While I approach the traveller, I smile: "Hi, my name is XaRen. Sorry to interrupt your thoughts, but you don't happen to know where the Billard Room is?"

This is so much fun! I love the ideas TV comes up with, for me and for the other players. Muff, good luck in staying alive with that dragon. If you happen to find a nice and maybe smaller dragon, would you mind, bringing it along? I'd love to have my own pet dragon Wink

Welcome to Transition Village. You say that your skills at subduing and capturing are still lacking, and we would like to help you develop those. Please stop the fire.

Sincerely,

The Governor

All at once, you feel the air whirling around you, and the lights go bright until you can no longer see. You feel yourself moving somewhere…

When you land, there is a crackling in the air, and smoke fills your lungs. You cough. There is fire raining down from the trees. A dragon stands just in front of you, and it is tormenting a traveler who does not see you.

If only you could let the traveler know that you are here before something else happens.

Bollocks, I knew I shouldn't have mentioned that. Stupidstupidstupidstupidstupid. Looks like about to become a roasted Fractal...

welcome on board *smile*
I'm glad your back in town hihi

I think it's the same room, I have been in, yeah.
lots of updates from me again, I always wait until something happens for me. haven't met any of you yet Sad

Quote:

„Yeah, I'll see what I can do."
I wave to the laundress and go upstairs. At least she liked my designs, but now I'm stucked. Where should I find here stuff, I even didn't know where to find her first. I decide to went up into the first room I have been in. Maybe I'll met someone on my way or up there to ask for the lady's stuff

You rush back upstairs where you first met the laundress. Just as you approach the top floor, you see someone going into the room next door – with a box of needles!

Hah, sometimes luck is on my side. Smiling from ear to ear I follow the person into the room, entering with a : "Hello, I'm the laundress' attendant!"

You enter the room and announce who you are. Just as you walk in, the person standing there is about to walk out. You look at the sewing needles in his hand. You look around the room. It is clearly a laundry room. There is a wash basin against the far wall, a sink at the right wall, and an overfilled basket of clothes and linens at the left wall. There is one chair in the middle of the room. Above the wash basin is a cabinet.

„Wait!", I scream.
„I put these needles in impoundment!"
With an extraordinary graceful jump I try to reach out for the needles in the persons hand, but suddenly I lose balance. My head rams against the chair in the middle of the room, and with a : "Please, I need them.." I pass out

You begin to pass out from your effort, but you realize that the other traveler has simply placed the needles in your hand and walked away. When you come to, he is gone, and you are in the laundry room. You have the sewing needles.

Caffiend, there is a statue on the first floor of the mansion, too.

While playing TV 1, did someone draw a map of the mansion? Maybe we should keep track of the story and the places in a wiki? Is this neccessary? I played the LANDLORD 2 and there it was really useful.

No map for you XaRen, but I did read the entire old game and came up with some notes that seemed like they might be useful for new people (like myself). Not sure how relevant any of these will be, but they might be.

* In the last game, it was stated that the Governor rules over some, but not all of the ghosts. Also that "law abiding" ghosts need to get a letter of permission from the Governor before battling a visitor, though not all of the ghosts would go to the trouble.
* Ghosts, even those that want something you found, reward respect for the town and its inhabitants.
* Life beads are used to bring the "dead and buried" alive. There was a mirror that could be laughed into to bring us back to life within 24 hours of our death. Otherwise we would respawn with empty pockets.
* In the previous game there were two ghost pets: a horse and a dog. Thought that it might be relevant with all of the pet hunters, though neither of those animals have thusfar returned.
* Jan, a character from a game prior to Transition Village I, was not resurrected, but was "sortof" given life. Though for whatever happened to her to happen, she had to agree to work for the Governor, and it was hinted strongly that we would see her again. To my knowledge she hasn't made an appearance in this game yet. She was and appears to still be a reporter.
* Not making a move within three days would cause you to start to disappear, presumably to make room for another player that could actually make a move. Often, but not always, missing a turn gave you two turns on the next day. It's not been tested, to my knowledge, if that nice rule still applies this go around.
* The final point of the first game was to resurrect two people that had died unjustly. Both were characters from a previous game by the same PMs. One was resurrected, while one (Jan) was not. It took three life beads to resurrect one person. This was the only point of the life beads in the last game. Their presence in this game might hint toward a similar ultimate goal.

^ Actually, Jan has appeared in the game. She saved me from one of the ghosts that was attacking me. It's in one of my previous posts.

TV said:

The professor runs to greet you, and you both meet in the middle.

"Hey pal, you're just the person I've been looking for," he says, and you show him the love letter.

Looking very relieved, he heads back to the front door of the church, and you follow. He slips the love letter into a nearly invisible mail slot and waits.

And waits.

Just as you think he may be about to bang his head against the door in frustration, there is a low, creaking sound from within the church. Is a lock being turned?

Then, as if there is someone else there, the door handle moves in front of you, and the door pulls open.

You both stand dumbstruck for a couple of minutes before the professor sways to one side in exhaustion. You help carry him into the church, and you lay him down on a bench. He falls fast asleep.

On your own now, you look around. The church is very empty and looks as though it has been locked up for many years. The air feels too still.

Then, all at once, the boards come down from the windows, and you see the beautiful stained glass images that line the walls. They are filled with incredible color and seem to tell a story.

There is an altar up front that appears to lack any kind of decoration or color. In fact, it appears to be missing something, though you can't tell what from this distance.

I replied:

I admire the church and the grandeur of its stained glass. I proceed over to the altar to investigate what exactly is missing.

So it appears I have obtained a job finding lost pets in the village. It feels good to be back in the village. I sent the Governor this advertisement for my pet finding skills:

http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l214/ifihadahifi78/lostpets.jpg

The response I got from the Governor was this:

Quote:
A letter appears in your hand! You open it, and it reads,

We were very impressed with your past successes with lost pets, especially the Chupacabra. Perhaps you will be able to be of assistance with the missing vegetarian vampire bat? Take care – it is not a ghost. It is a vampire.

Sincerely,

The Governor

You feel yourself being lifted off the ground, and the air spins around you so fast that you can no longer see. When you land, you find yourself off balance immediately. You struggle to steady yourself, and then you realize: you are on top of the Governor's mansion! From here, you can see all of Transition Village below, tiny spec that it is. On the roof, near your feet, are three items: a life bead, binoculars, and a honeydew melon.

You may take only one item per turn.

My response:

Quote:
A missing vegetarian vampire bat? Hmmmm...this could be trickier than Lance Armstrong's Bicycling Predator. I better figure out where to start looking for this creature. Making sure that I have my balance on the rooftop, I'll pick up the binoculars to take a look around the village for the bat!

It's tricky. All three items will prove useful, but I know there is no way I am going to be able to get all three before something happens. In case I can't retrieve them all, I will most likely leave the life bead as I need that melon to bait the bat.

I've missed this game. It is so much fun.

I'm currently spying on you. I'm not sure why, but the Gov in his infinite wisdom put me up to it. Since you had posted waaaay back when but not since then, AND I was sent to spy on you, I was wondering if you were up to no good. Good to see that you're posting again.

I hope you don't see me!

I didn't post it before, not knowing if you were up to nefarious deeds, but here is what I sent after being sent to spy on you:

The Gov:

Quote:
Your credentials are extremely impressive. Because we could use someone who can work undetected, your mission is to track the movements of Ifihadahifi as he searches for the vampire bat.

You feel yourself being pulled away by an invisible force. The air around you swirls, and you become disoriented. Finally, you land and find yourself in a tall tree behind a mansion. There is another traveler standing at the front of the mansion on the roof, looking down at the town.

Me:

Quote:
I let my eyes adjust to the light level in my new location. Is it day or night? Should I worry about this vampire bat being in the very same tree as myself?

I move out onto the outer branches of the tree, careful not to shake the tree too much or to put too much weight on weak branches. I get as close to overhead of Ifihadahifi as I can, so as to get a better look at him. I follow his eye line and try to determine what he is looking at, and what he might be thinking or getting ready to do. I also look at the roof, to determine how he got onto the roof in the first place, if he wasn't whisked there as I was to the tree.

Looks like most of my paranoid ponderings are mostly pointless, as you were whisked and weren't planning anything... yet.

Edited to add first part of Gov email, as before it wasn't clear how I knew what Ifi was looking for, or that I really was supposed to be spying on him.

Ok dragon catching comrades, here is what I got back:
Quote:
Mercenary Muffin thankfully does not bellow into your ears this time, and instead trusts your instinct and walks toward the rocky crag.

This journey takes you through an eerie graveyard with two stones and into a darkly wooded area, just on the outskirts of town.

As soon as you reach the rocks, Mercenary Muffin stops and pulls out some instruments. You watch. After a while, a flickering image of a dragon begins to appear and then seems to become a steady vision next to the crag.

Suddenly, the dragon grows massive and becomes as solid and as real as if it were alive. It roars, and the ground shakes. Muffin falls over, dropping you into the grass.

The dragon opens its mouth again and sets the trees on fire.

So Muff is on the ground after trying to hypnotize the dragon and FractalP has just appeared with the direction of putting out the fire.

Now to think on my response...

Well, I don't know exactly about putting out the fire, I just had to help... so I'm currently half way up the dragons back Very Happy I got the idea from a short story I wrote a few years ago - a boy who needed to stop a dragon from destroying his town climbed onto its back, scratched it behind the ears and sung it a lullaby ^_^

Dude, you need to post your responses. I just sent the same idea:
Quote:
"Oof!" I take a quick inventory. Nothing appears to be injured or broken. Grass and pine needles are quite soft. I smell smoke and see fires all around me, some small just beginning and others well on their way to taking off tree tops. The figure of the dragon looms in the smoke. Quite a beautiful specimen I think.

A minor earthquake shakes the ground and I nearly fall over again. Soon I realize a large boot has just struck the ground near me. "Grab my shoelace," I hear in a much quieter tone of voice thanks to my earmuffs.

Suddenly another traveler appears in the smoke. I can see the confusion and shock on their face and hope they don't begin stumbling around in my general direction. I wait for a second to see what either of them is going to do so I can stay well out of the way of feet.

Nothing. Shaking my head in disbelief at my frozen compatriots I jog over to the dragon and begin to climb it's tail. Fortunately I am small enough that it doesn't appear to notice my trespass upon it's person.

After a few minutes climb I reach the spot where the wing connects to the body and begin scratching the poor thing's dry, flaky skin.

Hehe, oops, sorry Wolf ^_^ I've never done anything quite like this before, and I didn't think I had to. Shall post them from now on.

In the meantime, time to write a lullaby about dragons!

Looks like I'm in! Just got an email with the following:

Quote:
A house has opened, and you are next in line! You are in a musty room, standing on concrete. In front of you is a heavy door. To your left is an old, dusty chair. To your right is a kitchen table large enough for four, with no chairs. On the right wall are a sink and one cabinet. On the back wall are a gas oven and two faded spots where pictures used to hang. On the left wall are a twin-sized bed, a nightstand with a burnt-out candle, and a wooden dresser.

You notice that some numbers are carved into the heavy door.

Welcome to Transition Village! This is the abandoned Groundskeeper's House. You have a purpose here; try to figure out what it is. There are ghosts, so stay on guard. If you see other travelers along the way, be sure to say hello! Any changes you make to the town are permanent until someone else changes them, so please be considerate... and careful.

I've got to get off the computer soon, since I've got last day of school tomorrow, but I've gone off to investigate the nightstand. Until then, anyone care to post a quick crash course in what's going on and how I can make myself useful?
