[SPEC] Durga = Flea, BUT NOT Melissa/Operator Ok, I know this is practically SACRILIDGE by this point here, but what about the POSSIBILITY that Durga is actually the Seeker/Flea? I mean, it's the Seek/Reveal/Resist/Escape, thingy... and that's all we have concrete evidence on anyway, right? So while I know you all disagree with me, what do we REALLY have to prove Melissa is Durga (other than it's cool)... And notice that what we have to prove The Flea/Seeker is Durga is much stronger with in-game evidence....
Debate!

I personally think you are right. Try this on for size *handing over tin hat*
[WILD SPEC]
Durga escapes during blackout and lands on Jersey's computer. Stuff happens (to be filled in as the game progresses). Durga gets mailed/transferred to Jersey's father (the castaway/stowaway/whatever). Jersey's father is on Melissa's ship as is the artifact/casket/grey suitcase/whatever. An accident happens and the three are catapulted into the past and end up on Dana's server. SPDR routine starts repairing Melissa (and by extension Flea/Durga and SP/artifact contents) and the game is on.

I like wild spec, it's fun. The only reason I disagree with this is that the Pious Flea is talked about as a male character from the Sleeping Princess, and she does seem to see all. It is possible that Durga is the SP though, as spec'd elsewhere, and the theory of it being transmitted to Jason Morelli would work too.

OK I'll bite.
There's nothing to explain why Durga would be connected to the covenant.
Durga is clearly a smart AI whereas Flea is .... something else.
Flea interacts with Melissa as a process not as another AI.
It's hard to think that Melissa would decode another AI like herself in an Covenant transmission without knowing it.
Durga says "Survive Evade Resist Escape" - which is Melissa's original mantra and not Flea's.

I do not see a (direct) connection for ANY of them to the covenent within the WAV's (i.e. Durga's) timeframe.
As to the rest of it, that is my main issue in making either the Flea or SP Durga (although a slowly (quicky?) self healing SP could still could be made to fit).
My biggest problem is that I can not make Melissa fit either. How does a rouge program like Durga go from where 'she' is to being a major (and trusted) player onboard a military spacecraft?

Also of note, it's been recognized that the Flea is unable to "speak" the way that Melissa or the Princess are able to. Durga has displayed functional speaking capability.

This has inspired a flash of brilliance in me (or at least it was in my mind when i thought of it). I think this has been said elsewhere but I'm now convinced the flea is a Covenant AI.
I say this because (it was either in the Halo books or somewhere in the Info on the BUngie site) the Covenant are Adaptive rather than Inventive, They take technology which is superior to their own and adapt it, this is behavior that the Flea has shown consistantly - from "his" messages becoming more like the SPDR to now copying the SP's terminology on this page
Its a bit messy but how does that sound (easy with the fish)

The idea is good, but I'm not sure it works right. The flea is "adapting", rather than "inventing". This actually seems like Covenant to me. However, it's unlikely that they would have written something like the Flea from scratch themselves, so the question remains: if it's from the Covenant, where did they get it?

Rouge == A red or pink cosmetic for coloring the cheeks or lips.
Rogue == Operating outside normal or desirable controls

Dyslexia sucks, no? And in this case spell checking doesn't help!

That's a good point. There are some easy connections between Melissa and Durga, but we really need more info to figure out how she became a ship AI if they are one in the same.
On another note, on the about page you see:
Inbound:
The voices are of unknown origin
I will continue my analysis and attempt to influence the source.
Which means these aren't necessarily her memories.
So confused...

i thought that the "inbound" messages reffered to either:
a) the flea whispering in her ear, but she can't see him
b) our emails, pings, html requests, etc, coming into the server

Understandable, but she mentions the "voices" which makes me think it's the audio recordings she sending to us.
She says she's trying to "reveal the truth" which wouldn't be coming from us either. It would be coming from her memory, or from the incoming signals I believe.

Hmm [WILD SPEC]
if it's from the Covenant, where did they get it?
Well... if FS, Cortana decompiles a Covanent AI she finds in the Ascendant Justice. It contained a "Clone" command, that allowed cloned programs (although damaged and deteriorated) to be created.
Is it possible that the command ALSO contained a restart, or a reset command? Perhaps the code lines Cortana saved were somehow like a.. respawn command - and the Pious Flea is the cloned version of the original A-J AI?
Also, the random deterioration suffered by cloning could explain why repairs were needed and why it has changed it's tone - it was damaged and is starting to function normally again. But this could be all trout

Melissa herself theorizes that she gets infested while she was decoding Covenant transmissions, presumably because they knew she was listening in on her.
