The Equation

Hmmm...in the beginning of this forum there was a member who was able to solve the puzzle and say where the "scroll" was "hidden". I don't know if he was just shocked to discover that the scroll was already in the box, or if he actually figured something out that we couldn't see. I've tried to contact him to see if he could lend any hints, but to no avail. Sad

I'm on the verge of breaking out a saw and then seeing if I can figure out this blasted puzzle.

I have tried many times to make an "E" out of the dark pieces.

If it DOES form an E, it is not a symetrical one.

PLEASE UPLOAD A PHOTO OF THIS ILLUSTRIOUS E!

The e

Just something i was thinking about that i'll try and look up.
Could there be another sign or symbol for the letter e that might be possible with our puzzle.

I don't know. The greek symbol for Epsilon is pretty much a backwards 3. Which is... an E. Smile

But you could be onto something...

The Equation

To clarify if you put the dark brown pieces on the right hand side, the light brown pieces will create the E. (The light brown square goes in the middle)

Before you said that dark brown pieces form an E. Now you said the light brown pieces form an E.

A PHOTO would definitely help to clarify.

Equation
"E"

I fail to see the importance of them forming an 'E'. There is an 'E=' on the figure in the instructions. With imagination I can find a couple of them on the map on the box (ship and islands). OK, a stretch there. But, what if the pieces can form an 'E'. Does that indicate the correct solution? Then that solution can be rotated on the board four ways so whatever might be revealed under it will change. Besides, stuff being revealed under some pieces are not going to be the password as everything on the board has been submitted. I certainly do not want to discourage work on the equation, I just want to understand the E effort or importance. It might trigger something for someone, that sparks an idea, that illuminates a thought...well...even that might be more that we have had in the past.

Would someone take a look at the box. Look at the side opposite the map. There is some math there, I don't recognize it, AND there is a capital 'P' in the work. Adventurik has noticed the capital 'P' in the expressions on the board. There is also something dealing with orbits. does this mean anything to y'all.

Back on page 21, Isodorus posted a picture like that. You can see that 2 pieces with cut-off corners aren't placed correctly which I think disqualifies this as a solution. Mixing the colors to form a letter goes against logic.

However, I'm in agreement with Magicrock that whatever figure the brown pieces form won't make much difference to the formulas on the board due to rotation. For a real knock-your-socks-off clue, the brown pieces would have to form some kind of symbol that makes sense to the solution. If they form an E, or other letter, it must refer to something meaningful.

Would a "2" (square) be totally out of the realm of possibility?

I am still open to the fact that whatever is printed under the correct puzzle solution MIGHT help with the password. I just think the clues point to the puzzle too much to be totally meaningless.

Then again, it might not mean anything.

equation

Whatever could be printed under the 'correct solution' is already on the board. Just pick or choose any formula, expression, whatever and work with it for a password. All those formulas with variations have been entered. Adventurik has discovered the most unique idea so far and that is placing the 'clue' piece on the board and reading through the hole to see only one expression. But, it does not fit the clues nicely. And, has not produced a password.
Maybe we (everyone) should return this puzzle to Family Games as being defective.

I was also thinking that the revealed letters might SPELL something. A word that might lead to the password (tho I doubt it would spell the actual password, becuase I have tried just about every word that can be spelled using the letters on the board).
