Credit card

Has anyone found anything linking the credit card? I checked the bank ID number. It is outside the range of the know banks.

I 'm reading the book right now, so I hope my question won't be a request to spoil Smile
Anyway, somewhere in the ads to this book I read somethink like "read the messages, browse the website, meet the Dark Man". Are we suppose perhaps to meet the Dark man in any kind of its appearance? Or is it just allusion about the book? (If it's in book, please don't spoil though Smile)

Or perhaps is he lurking around on the websites or behind phone numbers?

In any other kind of book I'd just say they were first edition mistakes, but in this kind of book... Also the fact that they're all on pages ending in 7 seems as though they're intentional.

I've probably missed others, so if you're still reading the book, keep an eye out.

There's a bit earlier in the book where 1980 (well, a date ending in 0 anyway) is misspelled as 198o. I think maybe their proofreader needs a better font.

The most bizarre error I've seen is (super minor spoilage, but I'll hide it anyway)

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
"It pierced my right bicep, just above the nipple"

Somebody failed high school anatomy.

bahaha, what if he meant that where it hit him on the bicep was close to his shoulder, above the nipple line... like, higher on his arm.

:p I am on a quest to find this book. I don't really feel like paying $20.00 for it, though I might have to, since there aren't any used versions and it's not at the library...

am also VERY intrigued by the website of thinkthebrink.com.... I'm hoping that this is gonna continue even though the book is out? is it like, a series or something?

... anyways just wanted to check in/drop a couple lines here/what have you. thanks!

I got the book last weekend and read half of it during my wife's surgery. I started placing the doucments as page markers for where they are discovered in the book. By themselves, they didn't seem to make a lot of sense.

I also noticed some mispellings and attributed them to the edit. I guess that I will have to go back and mark each one to see if there is some sort of connection.

I'm gonna miss ARGFest this year but it would be cool to meet Jordan in person. I've really enjoyed the story so far and the extra, non-book info really adds depth to the entire experience.

Suicide Girls

Been tooling around on the SG website (Obviously NSFW) and ran a search for any PE:DA stuff I could find. So far not much.

Search results: http://suicidegirls.com/search?cx=017429099836135100893%3A9i-u-c2mc38&cof=FORID%3A9&ie=UTF-8&q=personal+effects%3Adark+art#955

Interview with JC: http://suicidegirls.com/interviews/J.C.%20Hutchins%20-%20Personal%20Effects:%20Dark%20Art/

Weird article: http://suicidegirls.com/news/geek/23703/print/

I haven't checked out every hit on the search yet, but so far almost all of them point back to the JC interview. I haven't seen anything about a photoshoot yet, but I know a couple current and ex-SGs so I'll do some asking around.

So I haven't even cracked the book yet, but I've got a Russian friend who is going to translate the Cyrillic on the side of the boat picture.

Also, looking at the cool bits that came with the book
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Richard Drake is Martin Grace?

Credit and Insurance Card

Anyone figure out what's up with the credit and insurance cards. They're the only things leaving me scratching my head.

So I checked the boat out a while ago Using This and Google Translate. I think it translates to this:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
РЕГОВОЙ ПАТРУЛЬ
РЕГИСТРАЦИЯ-2005 =

REGOVOY Patrol
REGISTRATION-2005

As far as the name you spoiled, yes I think that is the proper AKA.
@DeleriumTremens: At this point, I don't know what can be done with either card.

underwhelmed

So I didn't read any of the "Cathy" books, so I don't know what I should have expected, but am I the only person who is disappointed by the level of 'interactivity' associated with this book?? That's not to take anything away from anyone who is genuinely enjoying this experience, but it feels kind of empty to me --- yes, it's cool to see/hear some of the things referenced in the book, but is that it? The hype made it sound like this would be a new and innovative form of storytelling, but as far as I can tell, this is basically a mediocre novel with some pretty shallow additional multimedia content. Maybe I'm just being a wet blanket, though...

It looks like the serious ARG portion is just ramping up with the full release of the book, and being a Jordan Weisman production you know it's going to be deep.

I recommended this to my twin brother and he's already finished the ook and fished out dozens of websites. I'm going to get him on here to share what he's found. I think we should make a repository like a wiki that has links to all the sites found so far, username and password combinations for any sites that have them, and phone numbers.

Though chances are someone has already done this.

Yeah, speaking of that. Okay, do people want me to list all the websites, phone numbers, e-mails, and passwords here, or does someone want to make a wiki or something?

Hey bro!

Someone already started a wiki: http://personaleffectsdarkart.wikia.com/wiki/Personal_Effects_Dark_Art_Wiki
