We have run into quite a few ghosts. I don't immediately remember any of them volunteering their name. Does anyone else remember a ghost name?

From the newspaper we have the name of some of the ghosts, but none are explicitly mentioned as being buried.

Hesor The Horse -- I don't believe it's him. These are new buries, I believe, and Hesor was in TV1.
Despairs Nests -- This is one of my best guesses. She's been around in this game for a while, and seems the most logical to be "important."
Shag Unsound -- Was Mr. Unsound in the first one? He feels more likely to me than Hesor, but a lot less than Despairs.
Ester Stillit -- Another ghost from TV1. Doesn't seem likely.

If it were me, and nobody else can think of another ghost with a name, I'd try for Despairs. I plan on asking the name of the second ghost I've encountered (the one that told me the items needed to save me) so that I can hopefully reward her in the future, but so far I don't know her name.

The only peeps I remember being dead in the first game were Earl and Jan and they were both revived at the end of the game...I would go with the priestess too as I really don't remember anyone else dying except me and I'm obviously alive too...

Well...several days, and no response from Fractal. I've decided to move things along. My mail to TV:

Quote:
In the midst of figuring out the barking and thumping morse code, Fractal has apparently broken. He stands there for a long time, not moving or saying anything.

"Uhhmm...Fractal? Hey, you okay? I was expecting some sort of response, you know."

My only reply is the panting of the wolf. Fractal continues to stare off into space. I ask WolfHawk if she knows what happened, and get a shrug in return.

"Okay, well, I guess I'll do this myself."

I brush past Fractal, whom is definitely blanked out.

"Well that's what you get for calling me Jamie Braddock. Okay...can you repeat that, boy?" I ask the wolf, who looks slightly annoyed, but repeats his barking and thumping again.

"I think I've got this...HOW...CAN...I...TRUST...YOU? Hmmm."

I think for a moment, wondering if invoking the name of the Governor might help as it did with the dragon. I decide that mentioning the dragon itself would probably be better, hoping they know each other.
Normally I'd laugh at the idea of a wolf knowing a dragon, but then, this isn't exactly a normal kind of place. I've decided to speak normally to the wolf, since everything I've encountered thus far has been a good degree more intelligent than I'd thought possible.

"You can trust us, we were just flown into town by the dragon. He had six-twenty burned onto his wing...know him? We managed to get a conversation going in Draconian. Somehow. Is there something you need from us? We're here to help you, friend."

Here's hoping Fractal hasn't gone off to la-la land just yet Laughing

Oops, sorry about that. I've responded to the wold already by banging some rocks together in Morse Code, seeing as we know it knows it, and the same idea worked with the dragon. I sent it about 12 hours ago, but Gmail is blocked where I am, so if I get a response I'll upload it later ^_^

Ok, I'm not even going to consider a move until you guys tell me what you think as I've been dealt a crazy turn:

T.V.'s reply to my last turn:
Quote:
You over-ride the Queen's wishes, and she wiggles her protest in your hand. To calm her, you open your hand and look right at the spec of dirt, explaining your thoughts.

Then you take your mind off of the Queen while the Priestess suggests you ask for the butler. Walking to the bartender, you say, "Your boss. Get your boss now. Please."

Pouring another shot and placing it on the table, the bartender insists that there is another option. "My King," he says, "our answer is right here. We must find the Queen. She must sip and then think of her shape."

The bartender looks up, and his jaw drops. But he is not staring at you. He is looking at someone behind you.

You turn around and catch your breath. There you are. You are looking at a mirror-image of yourself.

Um, thoughts?!?!

I can either give Lairo over to the Greystone (or just drop her little dirty self into the bottle on my own), or I can address this strange new apparition that at least had the good sense to try and be as handsome as I am... Laughing

Help!

My guess is that the new you is one of the two dust balls who thought about you. Perhaps the drink work without them taking a new sip? As far as what to do with that information (assuming that I am right)... I dunno.

Here's my responses:

Me wrote:
Still wondering if it wouldn't be easier to call the governor than go on a mission, I decide to give in to what the fates are telling me. I make sure to get the ghosts name before I leave, so that I might reward her helpfulness should the chance arise.

Then, I go across the hall to the room that I started in to pick up some glass from the ground and look to see if there are any more blood-stained items sitting around. Even better if it's a blood-stained sheet so that I can give in and make myself a cape.

The bat presents a bit of a problem, but I will have to worry about that after I take care of the problems that I know that I can take care of.

TV wrote:
You thank the pretty, young ghost and get her name: Alice. She seems to be waiting for someone, but you don't pry into her personal affairs.

Back in the room with the glass, you pick up some shards and search for anything blood-stained, preferably a sheet. In fact, there is one! It is a black sheet with several droplets of blood on it. Giving in to how awesome it actually is to be a temporary, vegetarian vampire, you tie the sheet around your neck and have a make-shift cape.

Now you're ready. All you need is the bat.

Now where did Ifi get off to? I haven't heard from him since the roof!

Ok, I'm pretty sure I can post now, given that it won't make things more difficult Smile

I apologize in advance for the length of it, there's quite a lot to go through. But, since my last post...

Me:
Quote:
Seeing that this approach isn't going to work, and noting that the bartender isn't going to let me examine to spirit bottles behind the bar, I now have to find another approach to fulfill what I've been asked to do. "Maybe I can convince them that the spirits in the bottles can help transform the Queen back into a human...", I think to myself.
As deceitful as it is, I mention the the King, who looks rather upset at his Queen being turned to dust, that there are some spirits that know how to turn her back into a human - but the are being help captive in bottles. Perhaps having the King on my side will help in persuading the bartender to release the spirits..

TV:
Quote:

As you are keeping your gaze locked on the bartender, you noticed that he fiddles with something under the bar and then rushes out to the vanished Queen. He yells, "No one move! I need to preserve the crime scene."
The King does not look ready to wait, however, and he argues with the bartender. "The drink! What was it! What did you give her!?!"
In an attempt to accomplish your mission, you decide to use the King for further persuasion.
You clear your throat and say, "Pardon me, King. There are some spirits that may know how to turn her back into a human - but they are being held captive in bottles, I've heard."
The bartender stands up and looks at you.

Me:
Quote:
Now I had to think of a convincing story that the King will believe, without the bartender catching on to my mission... This could become complicated. Well, here goes nothing.

"Well, I overheard some ghosts. They mentioned that some spirits had been imprisoned because they were attempting to free themselves so that they could reverse the effects on the Priestess. I assume that they could also reverse the effects on our Queen. Of course, they're not 100% reliable, but I think it's worth a try. What do we have to lose?" I respond. Hopefully that would be convincing enough. I felt bad for deceiving them, but I had my orders - and perhaps they did know how to reverse the effects...

TV:
Quote:
You give a compelling answer, but the bartender has something to say, too. "Don't touch any of the bottles!" he says. "I have reason to believe the bottle of Fishspear caused the Queen to Disappear! Sir King, I am deeply sorry about the Queen and will work in any capacity to help. You must know," he goes on, "there are spirits imprisoned in the bottles. They are of no useful help claimed. They are very deceitful and not to be trusted. They are in the bottles awaiting their fate from the Governor. I have been tasked to watch over them until the Governor can deal with them appropriately."
He hurries back to the bar, clearly worried, and begins to look through some items with his back to you.
The King looks as though he is making up his mind.

Me:
Quote:
"It doesn't look like the bartender is going to be persuaded easily. He's doing the right thing in his mind. I need to think on this...", I thought. Unfortunately, I'm not sure time is a luxury I have. I'm also not sure how much influence the King will have.

With the bartender occupied and out of hearing range, I whisper to the King, "I think we should free the spirits. I don't want the Priestess or the Queen to stay as dirt, to be honest. It doesn't look like the bartender is going to help us though. What do you suggest we do?". Obviously, being on Royalties side is advantageous.

Waiting for the King to think, I look around the Ballroom, searching for anything that may help the situation go in my... in our favour.

TV:
Quote:
The King seems lost in thought. Perhaps he is considering your words.
The bartender snaps at you. "I have dealt with these ghosts before they were put in the bottles. I know they were trying to escape. I had a lengthy conversation with them at that time. They said nothing to me about reversing the effects on the Priestess." Then he addresses your earlier comment. "What do we have to lose? The ghosts and the havoc they will reap on us! NO! They are for the Governor to deal with only! If you can think of nothing else to help, then find the Governor. He will answer your question if the deceitful ghosts can help. I think the Governor himself can help or point us in the right direction."
Flustered, the bartender picks up a book and begins reading.
"I am reading this book to help. I suggest everyone else forget about the bottles and find something to do to help, too."
Just then, a disembodied voice fills up the ballroom. You jump back, alarmed at the sound.
"I am the festival Queen! I wish to free the ghosts!"

Me:
Quote:
It doesn't look like I'm going to winning this fight, as the King decides to have his say in the matter. "And I, the King of the festival, say the imprisoned ghosts will STAY that way!". Perhaps it would be best if I wait until another time to try and free the spirits. I look around the room and survey what is happening. Maybe there is something in here that can help me...

TV:
Quote:

The King over-rides the Queen's wishes, and you know there is no more hope. You look around, wondering what can be done. The bartender does not look as though he is going to budge.
The King demands to see the butler, and the bartender pours another shot.
"My King," he says, "our answer is right here. We must find the Queen. She must sip and then think of her shape."
But what you see when you look up takes your breath away. There is not one King, but two. There are two identical Kings standing at the bar. They look at each other and appear almost as surprised as you.
As they stare in wonderment at each other, the butler appears in the room.
He takes stock of the situation and then shakes his head. "Getting to the bottles again," he mutters. "Well, you can sort that out yourselves. Here are two letters I was told to deliver."
Mr. Unsound hands a letter to you and one to the bartender. Then he disappears.
You open your letter and read:
Lbh unir qbar lbhe orfg, naq gur Tbireabe vf irel cyrnfrq. Nf n erjneq, ur unf cercnerq fbzrguvat fcrpvny sbe lbh. Ybbx sbe vg va gur Fghql, juvpu pna or npprffrq sebz gur znva ragenaprjnl bs gur znafvba.

It's the same encryption as all my previous encoded messages (that I didn't include previously because it would make my mission a lot more difficult :p). It decodes to:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
You have done your best and the Governor is very pleased. As a reward, he has prepared something special for you. Look for it in the study which can be accessed from the main entranceway to the mansion.

And, just in case no one can figure out what my mission was, it was to persuade the bartender to release the spirits.

You hope that the others will free the ghosts, and so you wait.
Shortly after your wishes have rung out across the room, however, the King booms just as loudly from where he stands, "And I, the King of the festival, say the imprisoned ghosts will STAY that way!"
He has over-ridden you.
Furious, you wiggle about in his hand, but he pulls you to him, looks right at you, and whispers, "Queen, we're not new to this village like our friends here. There may be many strange things to Transition Village, but we know the Governor to be good and trustworthy. If he has deemed these ghosts need to be imprisoned we must trust his judgment."
That does it. Something inside of you begins to change.
As the King requests the bartender's boss, you feel yourself about to burst through with something new.
Mustering all of your energy, you pop from the King's hand and roll across the dance floor to the other end of the room. Once there, you are no longer able to contain yourself. The power inside of you takes over, and you feel yourself growing.
You walk back to the King, who is now standing near the bar. You keep your eyes trained on him and wonder why he looks so shocked.
As you and the King stare at each other, the butler appears in the room.
He takes stock of the situation and then shakes his head. "Getting to the bottles again," he mutters. "Well, you can sort that out yourselves. Here are two letters I was told to deliver."
Mr. Unsound hands a letter to the bartender and one to the other traveler. Then he disappears.

I like you better as a Queen...Only room for one King Lairo... Razz

My reply for today after seeing what has happened with everyone else:

Quote:
Looking back and forth between my now empty hand and the apparition before me an idea races through my mind. Looking back at the bartender then at my doppleganger I furrow my brow and address my twin.

"Um, Queen? I appreciate you thinking that much about me, but maybe you should try thinking about yourself for just a minute. The stubble, not so cute on you..."

Turning to the bartender I say, "Release the ghosts in the bottles, a little voice in the back of my head says they might be able to help our Queen stop this whole transformation thing..."

My response the wolf communication:
Quote:
Noting Muff's attempt to communicate with the wolf and realizing that this creature has somehow learned Morse code I make out the conversation.

"How can I trust you?" the wolf asks.

I have to think about that because the wolf already appears to trust me. Perhaps it will believe me if I tell it Muff and FreezePop are reliable.

Once Muff is finished tapping out his message about riding the dragon I begin communicating by long and short pets.

"I know they aren't much to look at, but they DID manage to keep track of me when I came to find you even though I had sneaked away. Muff kept me from dying a couple times, too. If it makes things better I'll stay with you and keep the boys under control."

Hopefully, the wolf really does trust me!

Oh what fun we are having.
Good job at testing me guys. Smile
It looks as though it is time for me to be quite for a while. I will still be looking in. I will probably be able to say what is going on later in the week. I still will comment if my help is needed though.

Relax and have a drink. Rolling Eyes
I left the book for you to read FSURobbie

Me:

I call out to to the King to come over and read the book. "My King, Our answer is right here. We must find the Queen. She must sip and then think of her shape." I hand over the book to the King. Then pour another shot of "The Fishpear". Setting it on top of the bar.

Your friend asks the wolf to repeat the code, and at the same time, you both call out what it means. You have both decoded the message.

Hoping to communicate with the wolf on his level, you pick up two rocks and begin banging out a code of your own. Expressing impeccable logic, you make your case to the wolf.

"The dragon of the temple told us to seek you. It has told us you know where it is. It has trusted us, allowing us to fly on its back and neck. It has Heeka Goawy branded on its neck, and 6.20 on its left wing. If the wise dragon has trusted us, and you trust the dragon, then that should be reason to trust us?"

Just then, Muffin says out loud what you have been tapping out in code. "You can trust us. We were just flown into town by the dragon. He had six-twenty burned onto his wing...know him? We managed to get a conversation going in Draconian, somehow. Is there something you need from us? We're here to help you, friend."

The wolf looks at you and then at Muffin. Then he barks loudly and stands up, his body very rigid. His tail is extended, and his nose is pointing deeper into the woods.

Nice job, Muff Smile So maybe the nose knows where the dragon goes?

"Looks like we've got our next objective. Back to the dragon it is, then." Fractal says.

"Oh goody, I've always wanted to stumble around in some dark, creepy woods in the middle of nowhere. I just want you guys to know...if I don't make it, I'm totally coming back to haunt you with bad puns. Especially you, Fractal."

"That's cruel and unusual punishment, Muff" Wolf adds, petting the wolf.

"Yeah, well, I call dibs on riding an Ent if we find one." I reply.

"Whatever you say, Precious" Fractal quips. "Let's get going, shall we?"

"Hey, guys, maybe the wolf can follow us. What do you think?"

TV's reply to my last turn:
Quote:
The King/Queen looks upset as she realizes she is wearing a tuxedo instead of her beautiful gown. She begins frantically searching the dance floor, avoiding the gaze of anyone else in the room.

You demand the bartender release the spirits right away, on the off-chance that they may have an answer, but when you look up, you see that the other traveler is already gone, and the bartender is heading out the door – with the spirit bottles in his hand!

Now alone in the room with your Queen, you have time to inspect things. In each corner of the room is an item, concealed at first by shadows. There are two life beads, each in its own corner, one piece of paper, and one whistle.
You may take only one item per turn.

You want to coordinate with me Lairo? What should I take/investigate?

Disliking your crisp, new tuxedo, you begin searching for your lovely dress that crumpled to the floor. It is not far away, and you rush to it, picking it up and holding it close to you.

Behind you, the King demands that the spirits be let free, but nothing happens. You focus very hard on yourself, but, again, nothing happens.

Your gaze has met no one's but the King's in all this time.

I would take the piece of Paper..
what should I do now, I focused on myself already, but I'm still you ~.~
