If you have not been following, the first major challenge of "SIC" has been issued, so we suggest checking out the links below. This is the first of three major announcements concerning the production that are planned for the month of July. Now we've got something to work on Smile. As recommended, I've already had a look around the sites, and I'm pretty sure I found something.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
On the www.harpersford.com site, there are quite a number of 'errors' that are in the text. I'm pretty sure that this wasn't there before. I'll be checking this out further once I've had a little sleep.

The transcript of the new transmission will be up shortly.

I can't see the transmissions (only see black) - I know the info is there because if I click on edit the text is there - maybe the font got changed to black instead of gray?

I e-mailed last week about the electricity, but just now got a message back that my message didn't go through - maybe I sent to the wrong address:

"Sorry, we were unable to deliver your message to the following address.

randySPLATyourlightinthedark.org
Message expired for domain yourlightinthedark.org"

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Also, I think you are right about the errors on the harper's ford page. I see alot of them that weren't there before

Sorry about the double post, and if it isn't something new - but I just noticed this:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
"_ _ R _ _ R _ | _ _ R _" (keywords on the somethingiscoming website.)

Has that always been there?

Okay I've uploaded the transcript for the sixteenth transmission to the Something is Coming Wiki. I still haven't had a chance to look at the other information I found.

Also Palm, what you found on the site has always been there. I'm definite on that one because I'm trying to help a friend who is interested to catch up, yet he wants to work through what we've done. In regards to the transmissions not being there, that was my bad. I was half way through typing the new transmission when some other business came up. I saved what I had done without finishing the tab view, so the page couldn't show it properly I guess. All fixed now though.

EDIT: I've gone through and had a look what I found on the site www.harpersford.com and this is what I found:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
ERRORS ON THE HARPER'S FORD WEBSITE

-Planning/ Zoning Board
Mayor Owen lance (Lower case L)

-Office of Emergency Management
Jack lagrange (Lower case L)

-Historical Preservation Committee
Nancy harper (Lower case H)

-Harper's Ford Sporting Goods
...on historic Main Street... (Lower case H, different to other usages on the website)

-Boden's Insurance Company
...of coverage to siut your insurance needs. (Word suit mispelled)

-Harper's Ford Inn
...fifty years.Located... (Lack of space after full stop. Relevant?)
...Historic Harpers Ford. (Lack of apostrophe for Harper's. Relevant?)

-Harper's Ford Diner
...from what we here... (Wrong use of 'here' instead of 'hear'.)
Owner John Trreible (Repeated letter r)

-Shotwell's Garage
...who do you trust.. (Repeated full stop at end. Relevant?)
Owner Jaim Shotwell (Extra letter 'a' - should be Jim Shotwell)

-Harper's Ford Public Library
2 lighthouse Road (Lower case L)

OVERALL LETTERS EMPHASISED BY ERRORS:

L L H H UI HERE A L

For some of the puctuation errors, I am not quite sure that they are completely relevant. For these, I have just put a note questioning their relevancy in my explanation of the error. If you can find any more problems, feel free to add to it - because I can't work out much from what I've got so far.

I guess that means my work above isn't as useful as I thought it was. Oh well, I guess I'm going too look over the blogs and transmissions again then.

Wasn't there something early on in the dome that described man eating plants? I am pretty sure of this.

Plant references in the transmissions

Plant references in the transmissions:

"Flora and fauna do seem to be entirely two innocuous words for some of the nasty shit. Nature isn't very cute and fuzzy in here"

"Anyway, I was weighing my chances to get behind a tree and make a break in the dark and it didn't look good."

"Taryn says that she suspects he has latent skills that what we call, they call couger? When I asked what that was she told me that, and I know thjs sounds crazy, cougers think that the plant here, in order to calm them and make them less restless? "

"Formary? is looking for classical musical albums and is willing to cook home cooked food for them. She needs the music to keep the weeds in her vegatable garden from eating her cats."

"I thought we might discuss what we know about the local flora and fauna we've found here....Most of the predators here are not animals. They're plants. That's right, plants are at the top of the food chain here."

Also here is a link to the rest (too long to post):

read transmission #13 and #14.

Just from memory, wasn't there also something early on where the construction guys tried to tunnel under the barrier but plants stopped them, or something like that? I seem to vaguely remember something there, it's probably worth checking up.

EDIT: I found what I was looking for.

"You can't tunnel under it – the road department guys tried that. That's when we found out angry plants aren't just <unintelligible>."

I've had a look at the possibility of Morse Code - I thought the short, higher toned sound might represent a dot, while the lower tone would represent a dash. however, this doesn't form recognisable letters, so I inverted this and got the following sequence of letters.

ZPGWLDTYLWZOQPGTWLDTYLWZOYPGTWLDTYLWZONPNTWLWZOR

I ran this through the Rot-It tool, but I didn't get anything recognisable there. Though the letters LDT turn up three times - perhaps this is the word 'the'?

Hi everyone. Just caught up with this one.

I took a crack at the beeps from transmission 8 and there seems to be a pattern there, I came up with:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
(underscore is an undecipherable letter ..--)

_
XUEDY
WE
LYD_S
F
XUEDY
WE
LYD_S
L
XUEDY

LYD_S
A

Any thoughts?

Also I think
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
maybe Randy wants us to send him pics. of us treating plants well, possibly watering, growing, planting, etc. Anybody try this? No dig. camera here.

morse code

I decided to concentrate on XUEDY to see if anything comes up. Went all over every code decipher I have - and the ones that need a "key", I used the words adoptaplant, tree, trees, rose and rosebush. I did not have any luck with that.

I do have one program that tries to solve cryptos - (doesn't tell you how it does it; just gives results). It did give 14 results:

Rank Score Solution
1 -1.19 THING
2 -1.274 COULD
3 -1.328 NIGHT
4 -1.378 AFTER
5 -1.382 THEIR
6 -1.391 ABOUT
7 -1.41 WOULD
8 -1.416 FIRST
9 -1.426 CONTE
10 -1.459 ASKED

Here is the link to that program:

Something interesting I noted from looking at Dreadla's work on the Morse Code problem (I've bolded the letters of interest):

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
_
XUEDY
WE
LYD_S
F
XUEDY
WE
LYD_S
L
XUEDY
WE
LYD_S
A
XUEDY
WE
LYD_S
K

These are the only letters that change in the pattern. Spells out flak, but still might mean more.
