Yes. I do expect that. It keeps you from saying something that's already been said before and also answers questions that have already been asked. I do it, it's not difficult at all.

And if you're 12th grade level, you're not eligible for the prizes - you'd be too old. The way you write though suggests you're somewhere between 4th and 8th grade. That or you're one of those unfortunate people who do most of their writing on cell phones - that type of language usage tends to be damaging to a person's ability to speak and write in an intelligent manner when done too regularly or exclusively.

i`m in 7th grade and in reading level i`m compared to adults. BUT I STILL READ ALL THE POSTS,and i don`t make spam like some horrible person here (you all know who i`m talking about)

Teenage Butchering of the English language

Oh Windlane you are my hero Exclamation

I despise text English. It is right up there with fractured business names in my book. eg; kidz rool. My other pet hate is grammar. If you speak in shorthand / rap lingo / slang you are choosing to limit your opportunities in life. It is not cool and you are electing to possess a poor vocabulary. That is why other countries (including some third world ones) who have a greater all round commitment to education are streaking ahead of the so called lucky Western countries.

Parents should be concerned and actively discourage it. We are dumbing down our children. It is not just due to money that businesses and administrative jobs go overseas.

I oversee the Business and Management department for a Tertiary Instituition. Yesterday I gave my 7 year old our entrance test for a "Certificate II in Business" to complete. Why? Last week I conducted an enrolment session for our new semester and I was horrified by the exam results. It was a simple exam that combined literacy and numeracy and was marked out of 50. Now my little girl is smart, but no genius and she got a mark of 39. I was only marking her out of 36 as the numeracy component (worth 14 marks) was too advanced for her age, so I didn't expect her to be able to do it. Yet she tried and succeeded on a couple of questions.

Many of my applicants were lucky to get a score in the 20 -30 range. A pass was 35. Those who did pass by and large just scraped in. The education system and society are letting too many of the next generation down. Sadly those in the 16-25 age bracket were shocked they had no idea they couldn't spell amongst other things.

I am sorry for getting on my high horse here.

The moral of my tirade is this. Kids give yourself every chance to have a life full of opportunity. Parents expect better, set higher standards. Don't trust others to do it for you.

Sorry for ranting on.

Well, I'm in tenth grade this coming September, but I'm still eligible for prizes... that's because I'm advanced by 2 years, but my behavior is in adult level. But cahill.... he seems to have behavior (and temper) in kindergarten level, and his posts... are very annoying. Poor spelling. Sorry, I'm a spelling geek. Smile

 Kudos

glalieguy .........Good on you.

That was not some sort of blanket condemnation of all young people. More sympathetic really. Instead I am applauding those of you who who don't settle for mediocre and shaking my head at those who do.

I hope you continue to strive for greatness.

Oh and spelling prowess is wonderful asset to have.

Making poll about who's thread is less useless is just as useless as duplicate threads. Please lets cut it out and get back to the Clue hunt. Useless threads will drop to the bottom of the forum and be ignored.
