Hm, looks geared towards teens but should be interesting regardless. I just hope it's not a localized ARG so we can all participate.

For the sake of the library, I hope it *is* localized. As a promotional tool, it should involve the features of their own library programs and facilities. My first thought when I saw the thread here was, "I hope we don't overwhelm their intended audience." By all means, play along, but remember not to trample.
edit for spelling

Well, this one doesn't hide its nature at all, huh?
Not that I mind much.
I'm researching on the necklace.
I am mainly working off these two sites:
http://www.gemselect.com
http://www.gemhut.com
The latter sorts by color. The former discusses shape vs. cut.
I also created a Google Square for reference here
I posted my ideas on Chelsie's blog. I was thinking the two small stones and the yellow one are Sapphire, Ruby and Shene(Titanite) in that order.
Sapphire and Ruby are both corundum stones and they both have the same shape here. For the Sphene, these pictures convinced me.
But pretty much right after posting, I am not so sure any more...
I just thought about the name Chelsie. It's a pretty weird spelling, isn't it? No offense to all you Chelsies out there.
We already have Coral and Emerald identified. C and E. There are seven stones and Chelsie has seven letters.
I have the feeling those stones will anagram her name.
Makes sense, since her aunt says that it's from her parents. But how would that be important?
That would leave us with HLSIE.
Sphene could be S.
The Sapphire can still be a match, because it could be this special Iolite(Water Sapphire) , representing I.
And for H, look at the Howlite . Looks a lot like the white stone.
Not sure about the rest.

I applaud this, Nice work, and if it is geared towards local youth and the library I think thats amazing and we should definatly support such a neat idea, Ill be lurking on this if only to watch the story unfold..

There have been a few people here asking about how an ARG can be used as a learning experience. It's great that we can now also reference this as well. And my comment about hoping not being only local was purely egotistical in nature. I wanna play!!

I could only guess earlier, but with the latest blog post it is obvious that the previous photo was taken at the library.
On the first photo I was wondering why someone would have to shoot a photo in b&w and thinking it was probably used to cover up this was just around the corner.
It looks like a box on a shelf.
Oh, the photo is named "July09.jpg". Not sure if this is an error or if you go down there you should wait two more days?
