This is Orrin Lutwidge, September 1958

Does beg the question...how did Lutwidge know there would be a "Seeker" in his "ashes" 10 years after the fact? Am I missing something? The game is taking place in '67 right?

I don't think that he knew specifically that someone would come 10 years later, he just knew that there would inevitably be some people looking for Rapture. He probably torched his place when he left for Rapture, and left the reel to reel in case someone smart enough to connect the dots came along looking.

yes, it is taking place in 1967. One can only suppose that Lutwidge is orchestrating the events or set them in motion somehow.

the following was posted at one of the other message boards, by user Darksider13.

Quote:
See, we can tell by the "THREE fold key meeting the sevenfold lock" saying that the three fold key would already be met with the sevenfold lock. Now, one thing popped up in my head... Bermuda Triangle... Because if you think "THREE fold key", the triangle on the book stood out because of it's three points. Now of course this would just be a random guess if we didn't actually know the location of Rapture geographically but seeing as the Bermuda Triangle's tip hits the North Atlantic, I'm thinking that the Sevenfold key has to be somewhere in the north in order to "Meet" with the tip of the triangle. Now, this is where it kinda beats me. You'd think that the tip of the key would be where it begins it's insertion into the sevenfold lock (Well I don't have a picture of the Bermuda Triangle infront of me) but from the imprinted picture of a Bermuda Triangle on a map in my head shows that the tip does NOT, in fact, touch above Rapture's current location. (I'll have to take a look at where the BT really is but I'm pretty sure it's tip does not reach Rapture's location) So where then would the insertion point be on the triangle if it is in fact the key? That, is the question...

EDIT: Well, now that I actually have had a glimpse at where it is, the triangle DOES point in Rapture's direction from it's northern tip but it doesn't touch Rapture directly. So the 7 fold lock would be where Rapture really is I believe. So why would there be a sevenfold lock in the north atlantic and how would it be called a sevenfold lock?

2nd EDIT: (P.s. sorry for so many edits, trying not to spam posts) A button just clicked in my head! Sevenfold lock... Sevenfold... Seven continents... "Where are you getting Darksider?" you're probably asking. Seven Continents, how could they be the lock? Well, I'll tell you...

750 Million years ago, there was a SUPER continent called Pangea... This HUMUNGOUS (Spelling?) chunk of land formed on Earth forever ago, was the only PIECE of land on earth. Well, after a while, pangea started to separate into different fragments. Well, the center where the fragments started to move away from was in the North Atlantic. The exact spot in the North Atlantic that Greenland and Iceland reside! Right where Rapture is! The lock that was holding pangea, the 7 continents of the world, is the 7 fold lock! The Bermuda Triangle is the 3 fold key due to it's edges and it's distance from the lock and it's northern tip pointing to Rapture's location!

Lol, now if only Mark can figure that out...

EDIT 3: Said GIF file shows that Greenland and iceland moved the least pretty much making them the lock that held pangea together for the most part. Extra pointer BTW: that thing that Lutwidge mentioned about the path to knowledge holds pitfalls... Could he have forseen Rapture's downfall? Why else would there be challenges on the surface to find a hidden city that nobody is really supposed to know about except for the invited guests? Could my theory of him having contact with Rosenberg have happened on the surface? Could Lutwidge have been communicating with Rosenberg while up on the ground?

similar to this, i was thinking that the word Rapture itself has 7 letters...

but i may just be tired.

Do you think he will actually make it to Rapture? And even if he finds the exact location he won't be able to go into the city. The only ones who could is Jack and Ryan because the bathyspheres only work for them. The only way he's gonna find his daughter is if the big sister comes and snatches him!the only way that will happen is if his daughter asks the big sister. Which I doubt she will go and get him...

How do you solve the new puzzle box?! I've been working and I realized that the symbols are the same as the ones on the lunchbox. The letters they would represent are EEEDLNUR. The only word I came up with with these letters is "UNREELED", but I'm open for suggestion

EDIT- UNREELED is the only word in the English dictionary containing these letters

well, there's eight letters and if you arranged the word from left to right, there would be two circles in each box. I know the three similar one's are E's but what do the red ones mean?

I figured out the box puzzle

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Work the circles to the bottom of the second box from the center in this order- The Bullet/doubletap from COD4 looking one, Orange Bars, Star, T, 4 Circles, Yellow Bars, Green Bars, Rainbow

All that's inside is another recording, but seems to give more detail to the location of rapture based on landmarks...

Here's the recording that I wrote down most of it,

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Oh Makis you have begun thy journey, your master's temple has fallen, but his work is not yet finished, turn south by west towards great (couldn't make out the name) upon its shoulder shall you find the decrepit corpse of the red queen if you would run her race, then seek her crown jewels, they wait behind the looking glass follow the twinkling of gems oh seeker and you shall unlock the road to rapture

Either I misheard or who the heck is Makis? Either way it's exciting that Mark might be close to finding Rapture!

And I didn't hear mention of it so I'll risk repeating it if it's here, there's a paper on the floor just to the right of the book stacks that describes where metzler found the puzzle box, weird.

Guys, if you need help solving the puzzle, the right-to-left collision detection on the symbols is really bad, so if you're quick, you can drag one symbol past another.

And thank you for your help Camdog, just got the thing open.

But also the symbols are almost set up in the order you need to drag them so it's not too bad.

And there is a note on in front of the typewriter which says the trespassing warrant was a bogus crime from when he went to Lutwidge's lab.

You made a mistake earlier. The eight letters are r,e,d,q,u,e,e,n
Q not L

So the cipher is "Red Queen" as Lutwidge says in the recorded message.

That makes sense then for the order of the symbols disappearing
