From checking West Africa maps the marked circled X in the center of the Satellite Uplink image is Dakar, the capital city of Senegal.

BTW Africa was the location of the first publicly-known outbreak in Max Brooks' "World War Z." More specifically, Cape Town, South Africa. A couple of things about the sites strike me as sharing his approach to zombiedom...

On the map the bold abbreviations MAX, DKR, IORS EAST (is that IORS?) all are indicating the circles. DKR is the IAFA code for Dakar's airport but MAX is not for Madrid. I can't find anything with regards to air navigation such as VOR transmitters.
Something to do with satellite or radio transmitters?

Interesting that these are the only three circles on the map.

I loved World War Z! I hope this is a Zombie ARG, I'll mess myself if it is. Story reminds me more of Monster Island so far though. More so than WWZ anyways, but zombies are zombies, bring the ARG!
