ARG ratings.

okay, so movies, video games and all sorts of media have rating. and i was thinking that I (personally) have not seen a ARG with a lot of excessive swearing, violence, sex, all the stuff that makes up a "A rate" movie now a days (according to most of my peers that is).

so i'm asking, would an ARG with all the before mentioned items last at all here? or would they be shot down.

(by excessive I don't necessarily mean like SAW, but more like movies out of the 80s like Aliens, Predator, all that stuff, where it was very prominent but not the major factor of the films.)

I don't know what this says about me, but...

I swear a lot when I'm writing as Sploit for Eldritch... a lot. Really, a whole lot. He really likes to express himself through colorful language Wink And as the game, on a whole, is fairly dark and intense we state that it is intended for mature audiences only. We don't police that in any way - viewer discretion.

For Project Abraham, we did police it. It had to meet ESRB guidelines which was a bit frustrating and led to us taking a lot of the really "good" stuff out of the movies, but they were still pretty darned graphic. So much so that we were required to use an age gate to show them.

So, yeah, of the four games I've worked on recently half of them had what people would probably consider "all the stuff that makes up a A rate movie now a days".

Ah, and how well was Sploit for Eldritch received? or rather how well did it go?

He's fairly well liked, I think.

Personally, I love him. I think he should get his own spin-off. But, as his creator and writer, I could probably be accused of bias Wink

It's all in the presentation and in the audience expectations. If you can manage those well, it shouldn't be a problem. And remember, the internet is a really big place... if you're unsure if UF is the right audience, perhaps there's another better audience out there.

I guess the Human Pet was pretty violent?
And since one of the major elements were videos, you get to see some of it too. (username: thehumanpet1 on youtube)
It got pretty big, and created quite some discussion I believe. Although I was not around yet at the time, I've read some threads here in the archive.

I'm interested in mature A-rating ARG's as well. One day I'll make one so scary that you can't sleep at night! Twisted Evil

I think there would be a small audience on UF for that type of ARG. Not very big, but loyal. People that like thriller and horror movies too.

Heh! I remember when just having a talking toy teddy bear call my phone late at night was enough to get me checking under the bed for the boogeyman.

It's the little things, sometimes. Smile

Really? Human pet? I saw a couple videos for that and didn't think it was that bad. -shrugs- then again i'm a child of darkness, watching SAW, reading Stephen King, and listening to Manson.

But okay, this makes me feel slightly better about my project i'm working on... lol i'll have to look into The Human Pet thing some more i guess. (it was technically the first one i saw and i didn't understand it much)
