Hi there people.

Yes, somehow I'm still lurking along.
Actually I'm 2,5 weeks on holiday now, in Vietnam.
But apparently they got internet here too, and apparently I get bored every once in a while.

So I'm just saying hello.
And asking you guys (mostly Classical and Wulf I guess, I don't know who else is going?) to keep all of us informed of the coming spectactular events at ARGFest!
Edit: You know what this ARG is lacking IMHO? Video's! So who's bringing a video camera? Laughing I'd love to see some live-action chair throwing!

I guess there's no more research to be done in Vietnam right? Wink I'd might be able to pick up a deaddrop or something, dating from the time that the darkside conducted the experiments that created our villian (The One, right?) You never know how elaborate our PM is in backing up his story Wink .

I don't have a vid-recorder per se, but my camera has that capability, and I'll be bringing that with for sure. We'll keep everyone up to date as quickly, as possible. I've got Twitter, iRC, and IM's on my phone (just like everyone else, lol) - so we'll try to keep everyone current as we go along.

I'll try to get an action shot of Classical nailing Bricker in the shins too.. Laughing

That's all I ask for. As many times as I've gone over every inch of these (now) 83 pages and all the pictures and info collected, trying to find some loose tie or stone left unturned, it would certainly make me feel better! I think I could probably recite TGATT in my sleep now!

Put your shin-kicking requests in today, folks!

Also, if you're not on Twitter:
Quote:
clas1ca: @ArlenRage Huh. Somehow, I expected better of you. Or at least something slightly less sloppy. http://bit.ly/Bhi4E

ArlenRage: @clas1ca Sloppy would have been getting caught, my dear. I think it paints me in a rather heroic light though, don't you?

clas1ca: @ArlenRage Cute, but I feel the 'silent but deadly' look is more fetching on you. Have you been sliding flyers under any hotel doors lately?

Hahah, oh Rage.

edit;; via d/tweets now:
Quote:
ArlenRage: What exactly do you mean about the flyers?

clas1ca: King told me he received this flyer http://bit.ly/gaiM2 although the bottom was edited: "HE'S NOT AS CLEVER AS HE THINKS". Was that not you?

ArlenRage: It actually was not I. Was it an old altered copy or a clean printout? This grows curiouser and curiouser, does it not?

clas1ca: King said there were no tabs on the bottom, so I assume a clean printout. Very curious. Too bad we don't know who it's from, hm?

Yo, good to see you

Stopping in to see if there have been any updates, and it looks like there have been. Here's hoping this is a Starbuck's viral and you guys ar ARGfest will pull in some coupons for Frappacinos, Cappucinos or something. Wink

I will say that the PMs just made me very, very happy with the Press Democrat article. Nice job on mixing reality with some very good PhotoShop work. The have almost everything down to a T. The story is completely bogus, but they did such a great job that even searching the actual site made it very hard to tell!

May your packing go easy and your travel be safe, classical and Wulf and I am also looking forward to hearing about what happens at ARGf!

Classi - did you actually have someone send you info on your EXACT train schedule? That would have freaked me out beyond belief!

That image that Rage posted was my exact train schedule to Portland. I don't think I've ever really mentioned anywhere the train I was taking or when I was, just that I'd be on a train. );
That said, there is only one Amtrak train that travels directly from here to Portland, and it only leaves once every day at the same time. It was merely a matter of getting the dates right...

Still, am I weirded out that it was brought up? Yes. Yes, I am.

I suppose I can tweet some useless updates along the trip just so y'all don't think I got kidnapped or something.

That's a little better news.

At least there was a reasonable explanation for how they could have figured out your schedule, if it is the only one available to Portland from where you are. Still it is pretty unsettling, classical.

Hopefully you and Wulf will do some updates while you are there, if not while you are traveling... This whole game has been unsettling at times, and I will be worried if neither of you does some kind of update between when you leave and when you get back.

Anyone willing to twit the tweets classical is sending here on the forum? I don't tweet... or at least I haven't been persuaded that it is healthy for my personal life yet. I get enough social site stuff with my work life. LOL

PK is probably better off staying where he is, really. A moving target in the open is actually easier to hit than a stationary target dug in and in any way defended.

Ok, well not including anything we might or might not get from Bricker this weekend, this is where I see us.

We have a map of Brightman, and a goal. We have a key, and the lock - but what exactly is it protecting?

Does anyone (that has read TGATT recently) recall whether any sort of password was used to get onto the island, or in the door? I'm thinking that's how the Yuan is used, in some fashion.

So as I see it, we have to figure out a way to get Port over to the island. Now, since I'm fairly certain they aren't offering tours, we need to find someone to get him over there, or have him do it himself. For that we need to find a boat. Would it be worthwhile to send Port down to the docks/piers to see if he can charter a boat to take him over there, or rent one? Once we get him to the island, we have to make a sneaky approach so they don't see him coming. We know from TGATT that there is a dock, where all new-comers land, and where they are greeted by the security force. But then again, we don't know what, if anything has changed since the CIA has taken over the operation. It could be they're running with a smaller crew, and have released all of the previous team (unless I'm forgetting something obvious from TGATT).

Once he can sneak onto the island we know there's a ladder he has to find (cant' remember the exact wording of the email Syn got) and scale - and from there, using the map - find Jenny. I wonder if we could convince Rage to create a diversion for us, to draw attention away from Port landing.... He did mention he'd be in the area, and he has a personal stake in seeing this succeed.

Assuming that Port reaches Jenny ok - we still have to worry about him getting her out of there, onto the boat, back onto the mainland - and away - presumably to a Starbucks in Kansas if TGATT is any indication.

I'm also wondering if we can use, or more accurately need to use Port's previous Masonic contact/experience to gain access to the island? Many important/high profile people have been/are Masons.

I'm sure for a good portion of this jailbreak, we're going to have to rely on Port's training/instincts/etc to get them out of any tight binds.
Which reminds me of another random bit of information - classy - can you ask Port what exactly it was he did to avenge Jenny? It was mentioned briefly in the manuscript - and then dropped. I wonder if that's somehow relevant at this point.

Sorry for the rambling/random order of this. Please correct me wherever I've gotten any information wrong, and let me know whether you think this is on the right track, or we need to try a different approach.

=edit=
One last thing. I forwarded a copy of that Chinese prayer sheet to someone I met in Hong Kong, asking him to see if he could make heads or tails of it. Again, no luck aside from what we've already gotten. It would appear that whatever is on that sheet was originally written in English, and then translated to Chinese - which as we've discussed on previous pages, doesn't work as well.

Welcome to the lurkers/new folks/and returning. We're glad to have you aboard, it's always better to have several different sets of eyes looking at this!

Ok I'm done.. Wink

ArlenRage: @clas1ca Alas, that's very bad news indeed. And I hear that the Cuban has been activated which means that somebody is about to disappear.

If someone can explain to me wtf the Cuban is, we might actually be able to do something. But right now, all I wanna do is kick Port for being a stubborn git. ):<

Oops, forgot to clarify. I saw this tweet from Rage, and thereby replied to him, asking him to help protect Port - but I wasn't clear enough about it I don't think. Then I followed up with my tweet to Rage about causing a distraction.

I could have sworn there was a mention of a keycard being used at Brightman, but now that I'm looking for it, I can't seem to find it in order to quote it. Bang Head

As for "the Cuban", there is a brief mention here:
Quote:
"Who would've thought?" Goran shook his head. "I mean, an old washed-up rent-a-cop outgunning those two? I definitely wouldn't have put money on that."
"I'm thinking of calling the Cuban?"
"Well now hold on," Goran pulled out a handkerchief and cleaned his glasses. "Let's look for the opportunity here. King used to work organized crime, so he'll be expecting us to send in somebody else, right? And Fitch and Brackin no doubt asked about the girl…I mean, it's not like King would just start shooting at federal agents just because they knocked on his door. I say we have a great chance at finding the girl if we can just locate King. He's going to be under pressure, expecting another hitter, and in a hurry to warn the girl if he knows where she is. Or finding her if he doesn't. If he gets killed, we're back to square one.
"I'd call Penderghast and tell him to back off once they locate King. Just tail him and maybe get a shot at solving two problems at once."

Schwinn: Y'know, I was wondering that when they were first posted... but since the 'contact me' part was posted by WTH, that's why I ended emailing Hatch that time.
Anyway. Will try a couple of email combinations and see what I end up with.

Anyone who's going to ARGFest-o-Con have an iPhone? If so, could you livestream it for us via Kyte.tv?

AHA! I knew I wasn't (completely) crazy! I kept remembering someone mentioning their experience in getting in to see the Oracle. What kept standing out to me in my mind was the person thinking about the sensation of fire ants, and Jenny voicing the thought.

Turns out it wasn't TGATT at all, but the archived Brightman Oracle blog stuff on the Wiki! From the Wednesday, September 10, 2008 entry:
Quote:
First, walking up to the Institute is a disorienting experience.

Perhaps it's from the boat ride, or walking through the mist from the old, creaky dock and having this old stone, stronghold materialize as you get closer - walls reaching silently up into the fog.

And then there's the dichotomy of the front entrance; all rough-hewn timber and hammered iron strapping…controlled by an electronic card reader and surrounded by little weather-proof bubble cameras.

And when the door opened to me for the first time and the Institute swallowed me, my life was changed forever.

Koley produced a card from somewhere within the tactical pockets and slid it through the reader, causing the ancient-looking door to swing open silently, as if by magic. I was immediately faced with basically a SWAT team, all positioned behind gunnery slots in the stone entryway.

"Don't go and crap your pants," Koley said. "They'll do that every time you open that door. Get used to it."

I asked why. Why did this place even exist?

"Follow me," is all he said.

In the locker room, a couple of other guards greeted me, heckled Koley, and then told me to take my shirt off. Fully expecting some hazing experience - and knowing that it was inevitable - I stripped off my shirt.

"This," A black guard named Cooper said as he held up a small yellow box surrounded by a tangle of black wires. "Is the Bumblebee."

He proceeded to smear cold blobs of gel onto my skin and meticulously attached all of the electrodes before strapping the yellow box to my chest.

"What the hell is this?" I asked, half-smiling…half scared shitless now.

"Anybody who sees The Oracle wears it," He smiled. "It has three settings. Hurt. Serious pain. And Dead. If you raise your voice you get Hurt. If you throw anything or act aggressive in any way you get Serious pain. If you get up from the chair that you will be sitting in, you get Dead. And don't speak until spoken to. Got it?"

All I could do was nod.

Helpful? Not really. Confused Then again, I never claimed to be helpful, just a determined little pest.
