Coincidence, as the division into groups of 5 is just something I did in transcribing, not something that is in the message! It's just a common convention in decryption to break an unspaced ciphertext into groups of 5 -- makes it easier to look at.

Beginning the brute force method I described above . . .

Looks bad that there's now a message up in the forums TAUNTING TC for his 'juvenile' ciphers, and we still haven't solved this one Smile

We can't really move forward without getting a clear transcribe of the message. Cannot do it myself this evening, so I'm keeping my eyes open... However, for my two bits, I think that most of the characters were E's. But that was just on the first listen. Perhaps we're trying too hard, and the E's can be discarded?

My method seemed to be bearing fruit, and I was noticing more distinctions, but I've been at it for too long, only got halfway, and now I'm starting to doubt my judgement and failing to tell things apart again. For what it's worth, here's as far as I got:

I'm going to go and do something relaxing, but I'm officially giving up on this puzzle unless we get an IG clearer recording. TC will be disappointed . . .

OK, moment passed.

Abby has given us a major pointer to ROT-13. Mucking around in that, I realised that if the final letters are LB HEYVS R, which is close to what some have had, then we get "YO URLIF E". Which is very promising. Will keep hacking away.

I was about to come here and mention the major Rot13 pointer (since it's the first thing we always try, in general, it has to be a pointer heh). I am glad you are making some progress Hex. I wish we could get the letters right!

So I'm basing this on trial and error with sets of sounds. The only letters I'm sure are distinguishable are Y and R, and to a lesser extent H and L. The following I've assumed are interchangeable:

B / C / D / E / G / P / T / V / Z
F / S / X / N / M / L
A / J / K
Q / U

These ROT13 to:

O / P / Q / R / T / C / G / I / M
S / F / K / A / Z / Y
N / W / X
D / H

So based on that, with a transcription that *could* be

GURPY RNAFV ATGNX RGURS VEFGN AQYNF GLRNE FBSLB HEYVS R

I got the possibility that the message is:

Great job, H(e)x!
I think I also must be very easy to influence, because if I listen to the radio I can hear now only the letters you have discovered, even though before I hear things entirely different from everyone else.

If The Cleansing is correct then perhaps it refers to the article ZT linked not too long ago about the conspiracy theory that H1N1 was created to reduce the human population.
Cleansing = purging, perhaps?

Even though ZT says they don't prescribe to any specific theory, at least it's a thought.

I agree with bluesyvlia that it could be a reference to the article linked recently by ZT, and I go further to say that it was specifically provided to give us a clue or confirmation once we came close to a solution, which it has done marvelously.

Let ZT know what you've found, H(e)x, I'm sure they'll be excited!
