I wonder where this is going in general. Anyone else think another char is going to be introduced?

Nice find! I didn't think to try looking for "Citizens of Gotham" when Dr. Miller mentioned it in his LiveJournal; for that matter, I didn't even think to check whether he had a Facebook page. (Odd that it's private; I've sent him a friend request.) Interesting tidbit: the graphic moves to a new location each time the page is reloaded. Based on the source code, it appears to be random, though, not a kloo.

Two new (to me) characters: Matthew Daniel Johnson, retired Gotham cop (Twitter, LJ), and the anonymous UndrgroundMan (Twitter, LJ), whose initials appear to be TPL? Additionally, Lt. Linda Garcia has a Twitter account and a GMail address (LtLindaGarciaSPLATgmail.com). I've asked the good Lieutenant if she knows the CoG guest password. Heh. No auto-response yet.

I saw the tweets while I was hanging with the Shat at #pretendargfest. I figured it was a trailhead but didn't take it serious. If this is a Batman ARG/Viral I'm in. After all, WhySoSerious? is what got me hooked to uF to begin with... Laughing

Hmm, I rarely deal with fish and polymer on the same day...twice. Looks like someone is making it up as they go along?

From the undrgroundman blog:
Quote:

..
7.12.09: (Police blotter) Theft of blood and zygotes from BAI, a commercial fishery consulting service (mostly from sea raven, shorthorn sculpin, northern cod)
..
7.17.09 (Police blotter) Arson fire (started at 8:45 p.m.) in North Sheal destroys MacKenzie Industrial Polymers warehouse

Well, ok, if these are related, something weird is going on.

But did you look at TheOnion lately? A buddy of mine sent me something from there, just a couple minutes ago.
They have some kind of mock-viral going, it seems:
http://www.yuwanmei.com/ (you and me?...with this potentional phonetics connection as Daeld posted another one in another thread we come full-circle with the coinkidinks)

Fish and polymer, again?

Then we have this Daniel Johnson guy. He follows TheOnion. Ok, more than a million others do the same thing.

I thought the girl on the fish page banner looked similar to Linda Garcia, but the stock photo this is taken from shows her in detail and it's a "latina clasica" gallery. Definitely not her.

I will admit, first thought was these are connected, but it seems more likely that the people behind this took TheOnion for inspiration. Or it's just one of those days that I get overexposed to the combination of fish and polymer. Huh.

(off topic)

I see we're threadjacking for "Yu Wan Mei"...

On their contact page, the company phone number is listed as Tel: 1-877-YU-IS-FISH

Digging further, I found evidence that the phrase pronounced as "yu wan mei" would be spelled out as ' 鱼完美 ' which translates to "the fish is perfect".

If this Onion site warrents further discussion, I hope a moderator can split out these posts to a separate thread. Now, back to the ARPG and Gotham Citizens discussion!

I remember one old episode of Batman where the Joker poisoned some fish in the sea with his "laughing gas" thing, causing anyone who ate the fish to be poisoned with the aforementioned gas. It's random, but could it be connected to the fish/ploymer thing? (Sorry, I don't remember the name of the episode.)

ETA: the reporter's LJ is updated. It posts that letter he mentioned in the previous blog.

An apparently customized reply from Lt. Garcia:

Dear REDACTED,

To the best of my knowledge, the Citizens of Gotham public action group has been disbanded since the early 1990s. I'm sorry that I can't help you with a password, but perhaps if you contact them directly, you can receive one from their webmaster.

Sincerely,

Linda

I emailed Lt. Garcia earlier, telling her I'd run across the site that had her email address as a point of contact and asking what Citizens of Gotham was. This was what I got in response:

Quote:
I'm actually somewhat surprised to see a website for the Citizens of Gotham public action group! I haven't had a chance to really look at it, but it's certainly new. They never had one before.

As you probably remember, their membership used to patrol the streets of Gotham wearing blue berets and matching T-shirts in the 1970s, and they segued into a more quiet, advisory position in the 1980s, helping at Boys' and Girls' Clubs and similar charities. I was under the impression that the group had disbanded about 15 years ago. I haven't looked at their website, but perhaps they mean to include my email as tip line for people who want to help the Department? I'll contact them soon to ask about it.

I hope that I've been able to help you, and I'd like to thank you for contacting me and the Gotham City Police Department.

Sincerely,

Linda

Updates on Linda Garcia and James Davis LJ's. Joker on the loose through the states. Garcia is reporting on the route he is taking
Quote:

The Joker and his associates are believed to have been spotted in west Pennsylvania, Ohio, near Fort Wayne, Indiana, Southern Wisconsin, and Iowa. Unconfirmed reports also place the escapees in or near Lawrence, Kansas. A number of assaults, robberies, and homicides along the purported route are being investigated in connection with the Arkham Hospital escapees.

Could he be on his way to...Comic Con? Laughing

Davis has received a bunch of photos from a stranger. They show the Joker and what appears to be a drugged Quinzel. The last photo reveals what is sitting to the left of the door:
http://pics.livejournal.com/gothamtimesjimd/pic/00005prs

Could this be...the Arkham Asylum game?
Game boxes are just DVD cases these days, right? Yes, I have absolutely no idea...but maybe it's the Special Edition?

Joker looks surprisingly mellow. Seems having a good woman at his side has tamed his wild nature... Laughing
