Age might not be a factor, given the regenerative powers of Adam, but there aren't a lot of females in the game with a story background left alive at the end of the first game.

Tannebaum was the only female that was a non-little sister to survive to my knowledge...Well, at least as far as one with an established background.

While I could see Tenenbaum staying in Rapture and becoming a "Big Sister" to create/recover Adam and maintain the dying husk of Rapture and its population of Splicers, I couldn't see her creating new Little Sisters without some serious mental illness being involved.

Ha! I just meant she was the only established female to live aside from Masha. If the Big Sister is an established character it seems to me it has to be Masha. Wasn't Tannenbaum heard talking to the Big Daddy in the Bioshock 2 trailer? If I'm remembering correctly that would seem to eliminate her unless she was pulling an Atlas and that would be twisted.

i don't believe that they would repeat the Atlas angle... and just because the Big Sister has "history with the city" doesn't mean we have heard of her yet... could be an as-of-yet unnamed little sister, former resident, etc...

i'm willing to keep my options open on this one right now... but i'm tentatively siding with Dread Cthulhus reasons for it being Masha.

Depends on whether the faces we see when the radio goes off are actual visuals, ala Dick Tracy or Warehouse 13, or simply pictures meant to give a face to the voice, so as to give the player a little more information.

Not disagreeing, just put a conditional on my agreement.

Tenenbaums' voice in the gameplay trailer has her telling you "follow her!". Tenenbaum is referring to the big sister in the second person.

I believe the faces on the radio are just visual representation of the person talking. In BS1, it was apparent with the revelation of Atlas/Fontaine.

in short, i agree.

Ha, I really stirred it up a bit... Razz

I really doubt it's Tannenbaum. If it is it's lame because they would just be doing the same thing twice. I figure if it is someone already established ingame then it has to be Masha. If not, it could be anyone.

Didn't the trailer make it seem like it was a little sister who had grown up though post-salvation by Jack? I just ask because you guys mentioned it could be another resident but it seems to me it has to be a little sister which further strengthens the case for Masha.

Of course this doesn't really affect our current predicament much, but it is fun to debate.

So do I -- like I said, I could see Tenenbaum doing something to herself for the comfort and aid of the denizens of Rapture, but I couldn't see her making new Little Sisters.

They've already, well, broadly suggested it was a little sister and Masha is the only one they deigned to give a name to, so I think it probably is a "done deal," barring them pulling something out of their fourth point of contact.

Scarlet Sovereign Revealed!

Well, sort of.

There is a new picture on the floor, showing a warehouse(?) *RIGHT* on the waterfront.

Looks like it has been hit by the "unexplained fire" like the other sites. Five stories (ground and four up, or at least four levels of windows) with some fort of structure on top.

Associated with the picture is an invoice for steel for the "Warden Yarn Co."

Revision of previous theory: Lutwidge was one of the contractor / fabricators / shipping agents that Ryan used in the construction of Rapture. This opens a relationship anywhere from "useful dupe" (which I tend to doubt) to "willing co-cospirator" (which I am starting to back away from). These are, for lack of a better term, are the extreme poles. I think Lutwidge was at least savvy enough to look at the purchases coming through his warehouse -- all anagrams -- to know that something was up. This is the "lowest" logical level for the relationship between OOL and Ryan -- Ryan tried to hide his involvement through anagrams from a cryptographer and OOL gained an inside track on the existence of Rapture.

This covers most everything except the business announcement of the collaberation between OOL and A. Rianofski, which may be a subsequent event -- Ryan tries to use OOL's businesses and skills while keeping OOL in the dark and, eventually, starts bringing him into the fold through business ties.

The only problem is that Ryan would have established himself in Rapture as quickly as possible. The problem I have is that we don't have a good set of dates (just month and day) on those news-clippings. Assuming that the newspapers are from 1946 -- the same year as the steel invoice -- then Ryan and OOL entered their partnership shortly before Ryan started ordering massive amounts of steel, presumably for the construction of Rapture (a little over 16 tons of steel on just the one invoice).

This doesn't tell us Lutwidge's precise level of involvement in the construction of Rapture, but it does give us an indication he's further from the "ignorant dupe" pole than he is from the "Rapture insider" pole of the range.

looking at the photo for the last hour or so...

it doesn't look like it went through a fire. it look slike it is in horrible disrepair, and perhaps may have been intentionally destroyed, but none of the marks of fire are there (i.e. scorch marks above the windows/door, the wooden fence on the right of the pic is intact, the boarded up doorway, etc.)

looking at the damage, it very well could have been intentional, tearing up evidence of what was transferred out of the factory.

the yarn plant, mentioned on the invoice, was an obvious front for something, but the type of steel ordered sounds like a framework for a modestly sized building, like an industrial building or part of a skyscraper frame...

that's my $.02, FWIW. now, who do i bill for it?

If you were building a secret city, you'd not route all of your orders through a single contractor / supplier. It is dated such that it is one of the construction orders for Rapture, in all likelihood... too bad the delivery instructions weren't attached...

what would the ship to address be?

1 Marianas Trench Blvd.
Rapture, Atlantis 00000.5

\sorry, just woke up.

EDIT: the materials are most likely for rapture, yes, but possible for another building, being another link in the chain of puzzles...

No, SageGrey -- a delivery instruction, even if it were simply FOB a given vessel, would be another data point added to the collection. Ships have logs, make the news, etc.

Besides, the Marianas Trench is on the other side of the word -- Mu, not Atlantis... Wink
