obviously coordinates, time of day, and on the inside of the larger box, the date 08-08. anyone that can plot?

looking closer at that pic, it looks like you have to match the colors of each plot point...

just putting it all together: 10 dots on the Bellmans' chart, and 10 coordinates. makes the notes found make sense, too.

Analyzing the newest reel-to-reel tape

Alright here's the message:
Quote:
They say that Rapture is but a myth, but myths are never cast adrift when the Lunar Lady shifts and graces shorelines with her gifts. Now that the Bellman's chart reveal what the icy triangle conceals and how it's briny ventricles course and tumble, push and pull. Parse the numbers. Don't be late. The thirst of knowledge will be slaked, for the Seeker who awakes, to seize the dawn when secrets break.
This is Orrin Oscar Lutwidge, only one lost among many.

My interpretation of it:

Line 1: "They say that Rapture is but a myth, but myths are never cast adrift when the Lunar Lady shifts and graces shorelines with her gifts."
Okay, the "Lunar Lady" is definitely the moon. The "shift" probably is referring to the phases of the moon. So this sentence is telling Mark that on a certain phase of the moon, if he goes to the beach a secret will be revealed that helps him find Rapture.

Line 2: "Now that the Bellman's chart reveal what the icy triangle conceals and how it's briny ventricles course and tumble, push and pull."
Bellman's chart is the blank map that Mark has. The "Icy Triangle" is the "Frozen Triangle" mentioned in the book that Lynch sent him and seems to be located around Rapture.. The "briny ventricles" part is probably talking about the flow of goods going in and out of Rapture, though it could be talking about the tides, I'm not sure which.

Line 3: "Parse the numbers."
Okay, I looked up the word parse and this is the definition:"to resolve (as a sentence) into component parts of speech and describe them". Based on the picture that The Helvetica Scenario posted, this line is telling Mark to decode the numbers on the third item.

Line 4: "Don't be late."
Self-explanatory

Line 5: "The thirst of knowledge will be slaked, for the Seeker who awakes, to seize the dawn when secrets break."
This could either be taken literally, Mark needs to someplace at dawn, or figuratively, he'll only find Rapture if he works hard and "seizes the day".

Line 6 "This is Orrin Oscar Lutwidge, only one lost among many."
I don't think Lutwidge was willing in his role as the "Opener Of Labyrinths" as we thought. That or Lutwidge could see the fall of Rapture coming and knew that they were all stuck in a hopeless position.

i think it's more literal. with the pic from SDCC of the coodrinates in the jewlery box, it most likely means that WE need to be at locations at the time given, at the coordinates given.

Do any of you think that the coloration of the suns have to do with whether the time is AM or PM? Ex. Bright sun AM, Dark sun PM

Alright, these are the coordinates(as best as I can make them out) converted to decimal (I find it easier to deal with this way) and their very generalized locations. The times are also posted, with the assumption that a dark sun=PM and a bright sun=AM. Feel free to double check me on all of them.

good work.

however, i think that it is a form of puzzle, such as matching up the colors, to get the proper coordinates...

if i got this right, the purple colored one is just off the coast near LA

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=34%C2%B0N+123%C2%B0+9%27+w&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&hl=en&ie=UTF8&start=0&ll=32.805745,-122.651367&spn=10.665631,16.940918&t=h&z=6&iwloc=near

and the darker green is just off the coast of a small island near spain...

i'm in the jewlery box... looks like i was right about the colors... the message from OOL as soon as you complete the box says something about standing on the shore with your evidence in hand... i'll make a photobucket with the screen caps from the colors... be back soon.

Got the coordinates. Oh and thanks for the advice perroned.

6:41 Red/Bright Sun
S 33.8833 W 151.2667
Somewhere in the South Pacific, between Australia and Chile.

5:43 Red/Dark Sun
N 53.95 W 10.8667
Off the coast of Ireland, near Keel West.

6:03 Orange/Bright Sun
N 44.0667 W 12.5667
Off of the North-west coast of Spain.

6:15 Orange/Dark Sun
N 52.1167 W 4.2833
In the UK, the address Google maps gives me is Llandysul, Ceredigion SA44 4, UK.

6:28 Yellow/Bright Sun
N 43.6833 W 7.25
Off the coast of Spain, directly across from Forxan.

5:37 Green/Bright Sun
N 50.8167 E .1333
In the UK, near Alfriston.

6:54 Green/Dark Sun
N 41.3667 W 2.1833
In Spain near Monteagudo de las Vicarias.

5:58 Blue/Bright Sun
N 40.5833 E 73.5
Some where in Kyrgyzstan near a river.

5:55 Blue/Dark Sun
N 46.2667 E 123.15
Some where in China near Ai li Hei, near a lake.

6:11 Purple/Bright Sun
N 34.0 E 118.4833
Somewhere in China near Chuanzhuang

And I find it interesting that Yellow and Purple are the only colors that don't have a Dark Sun counter-part. Does that mean that they're important somehow?

Edit: Locations added.
