Best solution to the memory puzzle I've heard so far: Put saran wrap on your computer and mark the lights that pop up with a marker.

Edit: Thanks for the link Limer. Now I can actually close my tab. Very Happy

I finally got into the jewelry box by just creating a notation system to keep track of where I'd already clicked, and here's my stream-of-consciousness speculation on what's inside...

1. Given that the second and third rows don't have the musical notes in order from left to right, I'm thinking the correct sequence to read them in (although I don't know what that sequence would indicate) might be indicated by one of THOSE two rows, not the top one.

2. Note that Lutwidge never mentions when he made the recording in the jewelry box. Was it, like everything else, made in September of 1958? Or was it made later... like, for instance, after he learned that Meltzer was on the trail?

4. On the map (if that's the Bellman's Chart he speaks of), do the ten locations on the map match up with any real-world coordinates on a world map? Does the red triangle indicate Rapture, or something else?

At the end of the recrding he DOES say the date. he says it's from September 1958...

Okay, my mouse is being wierd and double-clicking when I don't want it to, so can someone please play the top row in this sequence for me? Thanks.

9, 4, 8, 10, 1, 3, 5, 2, 7, 6, 3, 6, 2, 4, 9, 10, 4, 8, 1, 7

It's the order in which the top notes appear on the bottom two rows.

i know this will be very noob like and not really a question for this forum too, but could someone just clear somethin up for me. ive followed everything bioshock related i can something in the sea, videos magazines everything.
no my question: bioshock 2 is said to be taking place during the fall of rapture after the evnts of the first game. *pause* that makes sense that would make a great game... and other things say that you are playing as the first big daddy so wouldnt that be going back in time to to events before the first during the RISE of rapture?

could some please just clear that up. thnx.

The single player campaign is you playing as the first Big Daddy, ten years after the first game. The multiplayer campaign has you in a setting before the fall of Rapture. It's still deathmatches and stuff, but since this is bioshock, there's a story to it as well.

Edit: Here's the link to all the info.

Most of these map coordinates are right on or extremely near to the coastline, which of course is what we might expect. If there is any real-time component here, it would probably be worthwhile for people living near these locations to show up at sunrise on Aug 8. For example, showing up at Jones Beach on Long Island at sunrise Aug 8 would seem like a reasonable bet for something to happen. However, a couple of these coordinate sets are not really on or particularly near the coast, and that unfortunately includes these coordinates in Western Washington, which are a good 50 miles from the Pacific Ocean, in the Middle of Nowhere. I say unfortunately because I live in Seattle and could perhaps give this a go, if it made any sense. But the middle of a forest in SW Washington? Don't think I'm gonna do that. Am I missing something? (Probably)

I live about an hour or two away from the coordinates posted so as long as my job isn't sucking the life out of me you can bet your boots I'll be there too!

Not sure why I didn't think of this before...

I just looked up a sunrise/sunset calendar online - http://www.sunrisesunset.com/ - and it said sunrise for LA on 08/08 is 6:09 AM, so I think the theory of the suns being an AM/PM indicator is pretty accurate. I didn't go too deep into the site but it has a lot of cities so if the other coordinates coincide with the times listed then I guess we have our answer Smile

Did anyone notice this from this web page?

http://whyfiles.org/about-the-team/

David Tenenbaum, feature writer
David has written about science, health and environment for Technology Review, Environmental Health Perspectives, Bioscience, The Los Angeles Times, and other publications. Most recently, he and Terry Devitt wrote a Penguin Book, The Why Files: The Science Behind the News, (publication 4/28/2009). Although is fascinated by science and technology, David can swing a hammer: He wrote and photographed The Complete Idiot's Guide to Home Repair (Illustrated) and The Complete Idiot's Guide to Simple Home Improvement (Illustrated), both published by Penguin-Putnam. He also wrote both editions of the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Toolbox Manual, published by Thomson Peterson's. Nicknamed "Atlas" because he knows the biking roads, he's been Why-Filing since the Big Bang.

You can write emails to the guy, I already sent one asking for info about new types of sea slugs found in the "lost city".

Not sure if it leads somewhere but you never know.
