I can't say for absolute certain, but I would bet it was a wrong number; 42 calls usually show up as "000000".

Considering that they're also extremely strict about TINAG, I doubt that signing up on their home site would lead to one specific game per se. It's probably more along the lines of building a database of people willing to play any 42 game as it comes along.

This cannot be stressed enough. Far too many people on twitter are convinced that the sign up is for Nine Inch Nails or The Matrix. Rolling Eyes

Well if that's true (hopes its not) there has to be SOMETHING related to The Marix, and it must be coming soon. (hopes it is, wants Matrix 4)

It's just the game of telephone applied to Twitter. Trent Reznor (fan and friend of 42 Entertainment) posts a news item to nin.com directing people to sign up for this. Twitterer's (is that the right term?) take this to mean it's somehow connected to Year Zero. Word spreads even more folks, who upon reading the matrix lingo (which has been used in the ARG world for a good long while now) interpret that to mean 42 is crafting an experience based around the matrix world. Knowing 42's lack of transparency while a campaign is running, or in development, these interpretations don't really work.

That's my reading of it all anyway. It seems 42 is just building a contact list of people who are looking to participate and get the word out on new projects. Then again the red pill graphic looks a lot like a Mike & Ike/Hot Tamale which makes me yearn for a Candyland ARG which is my new theory I shall spread crossed the twitterscape.

That'd be my guess.

Heck, it's done wonders for me and I only have a few hundred. With their exposure, they could probably get tens of thousands of people to sign up.

Whatever it is, game or database, I'm in. Have been itching to get involved in another TDK-style epic ARG.

I trust 42 Entertainment as well... but I still laughed when I saw this:

I was wondering if I was the only one to see that. Maybe it might be occuring soon and they were trying to get it up ASAP.

Greatest. Idea. Ever.

Okay, maybe not ever, but pretty close. Anyway, I'd have to agree that this is probably just an info gathering tool. I think its a great idea; as a newcomer to the ARG community, I wondered how to get "plugged in" (I eventually just started posting in threads in uF and somewhat forced my way in). On the other hand, I would think that they wouldn't bother to collect our info if they weren't planning on launching something in the near future, even if they were planning to keep it in a known ARGer database. Just my two cents.

Canadian boy is in, glad they had 'Canada' as an option (considering us Canuckleheads were outta luck then ILB hit, hadda just sit around an' leech off the Americans' work, which royally cheesed me off fo' sho'). Here's hoping they get enough of us on their database that they'll actually do a game that reaches up horth for players.

Dude... it's 42 Entertainment. 1, they're respectable and established. 2, what can someone do with your date-of-birth? 3, you can leave fields blank.
