Ah, I knew there was some pattern to it, but couldn't see it immediately.

This strikes fairly true with another substition cipher, (as do the repeated strings) and I'd be surprised if we were given two ciphers so close that didn't share something in common.

Well there's Aaron. The first i looks a bit thicker, like the first letter in lida, so it could be a cap I or small L with a smudge that makes it look like a small i, and that could make that wicked 11 letter word a last name.
The U at the end I thought maybe he had signed with a S ?

Here's a larger and somewhat enhanced version of the text.

That lone U is bugging me too. It could be the text was cut off. This could again involve some transposition. Or it could simply be him signing this with an initial.

As for other parts, if the Vf's are the same word, it could mean this is a substitution, or that it's something like Vigenere with a key length that causes them to be encoded the same.

I am looking at the picture and thinking that it is Ponce de Leon of the fountain of youth fame. maybe. in the background, by the well, it looks like a couple of indians, perhaps Timuquan Indians the first Floridians. The Timuquan worshiped sungods, sacrificing their firstborn. " The native Floridians called themselves "Children of the Sun," and offered their first-born as a sacrifice to the Sun God."

I cannot find any reference to Ponce de Leon and any sacrifice.

Just throwing it out there, possible clue to the code. It does seem that the pictures are also part of the message.

While my research has turned up plenty of examples of catapulting bodies over the walls of cities, I have yet to find an example of contamminated well water from corpses.

Unfortunately, I have went from wildly complex and out there possibilities to the insanely simple in both the decoding process and trying to solve the key to turn up absolutely nothing.

Continuing my research from last night i stumbled upon these:
