(Unknown ATM) The Prisoner AMC remaking it, opened up a wiki http://www.amctv.com/originals/the-prisoner/
The Prisoner was a British show from the sixties that AMC is currently remaking. On that site, it says "Help this wiki writer figure out what's going on in The Village. "
http://www.thevillagewiki.org/wiki/Main_Page
Seems odd they're acting like it's a real place. This show seems like it was always meant for an ARG anyway, so here's hoping one develops from this.
I'm on watching the originals (and there's some footage on youtube generally considered to be lost, of an interview with McGoohan). I'll be keeping a close eye on this, since it seems right up my alley in weirdness.
Here's the ComicCon trailer for you guys, too:
http://link.brightcove.com/services/player/bcpid1119352258?bctid=30345659001
This is what it says in the "Who I am" page on the wiki:
Quote:
For now, I prefer to remain anonymous. Not that I want to be mysterious, but mainly due to the fact that there is so little we know about The Village, that I'd prefer not to get into some sort of trouble over this.
I'm not even sure if The Village exists and if it does – that The Village is its actual name. Whatever its real name, something odd is going on there (or why would people work so hard to hide its location and function). If this sounds mysterious, that's because there are mysteries here, and the point of this wiki to put them out to the public in case others know something and can help solve them.
I don't want, at this point, to put a sinister spin on The Village. For all I know it may be the code name of an exciting new consumer product or resort. But when something is out of place, it's always been my talent to sense it. It's like a thread loose in a woven pattern. And I think something is out of place, here, and it has something to do with The Village.
And I think others know something about it – perhaps even someone reading this, right now.
And this is what it says on the Where I Work page:
Quote:
I don't want to reveal too much about where I work, because that is where I first heard about The Village. Whether my company, or just someone who works here, is involved or not, I have no idea.
Pattern recognition has always been something I've been good at. I applied at a company that wanted to take full advantage of my skills.
It looked ideal, at first. The company talked about its mission statement. A commitment to social cohesion and community studies. Life balancing and coaching applications. I thought I'd be working for a think tank, spotting patterns in studies and helping move these positive company goals forward. After working for companies with no moral values, it was exciting to start work at a company with what seemed like positive role in society.
Instead, I am now doing a form of simple pattern recognition that is far more mind numbing.
Maybe I'll feel more comfortable revealing more later...

There was already some hype for this quite a while ago, but unfortunately it seemed to go nowhere. Maybe now that the November release is soon upon us, they'll do something with the information they collected.
That video was pure awesome. *sigh* Like I don't have enough shows to keep up with.

Looking at it now, the last time "concernedcitizen" edited the wiki was July.
Hopefully it being noticed, if it is an ARG, will cause it to pick up again.

Probably nothing, but the long paragraph in the above has starting letters that spell out "ITALIA".

That's where they filmed the original The Prisoner. They used it as the set for the original The Village.

Yep. The new one was filmed in South Africa. Mostly Swakopmund, Namibia and Cape Town.

Nice! The Prisoner booth at Comic-Con was allowing people to become a prisoner themselves. Another theme is "I am not a number", for which button were handed out. I'll have pics posted very shortly.
Nice catch on Italia. And yeah, the trailer at CC was great - and at the panel, the auditorium erupted in cheers when the big bubble appeared =) good stuff!

I LOVED the old TV show.
I really wish they'd stop remaking old TV shows & movies. Leave well enough alone! It inevitably gets tarded up & someone feels the need to Hollywood the thing out to make it bigger, better & flashier. Whatever happened to relying on a fantastic story & killer acting?

I think the old series was pretty cool, even though I've only watched a few episodes. But I look at new adaptions like this as something different. I try not to make too many comparisons between old and new because they are so very different and very good for that matter, for very different reasons. I think it's great that they're making some of these fantastic older shows, adaptable to a new audience, that may not have been so interested in the old series!
It'd be FANTASTIC if there is an ARG attached to this. The trailer looks awesome!!

Just a friendly reminder- the new show starts on Sunday. Catch up on the old one, and cross your fingers for an ARG.
