This thread wins everything. At least, until The Beatles Rock Band comes out.

It's even more of a win if the songs turn into DLC(downloadable content)

I think its a little funny that some of the better known beatles songs (ie Let it Be, Hey Jude, etc) arent even included in the game.
See what happens is, Some casual gamer walks into the store and says "Hey, Beatles Rockband...I like the beatles" and they buy the game and take it home and realize, They know maybe three songs included in the game. The songs they really want, they have to buy separately. And Paul goes dancing home with all of your money.
But I agree...I do love me some Beatles Rockband.

Rock Band has had this model in place since the beginning, though. There's only so much you can put on a disc.
The photos and additional audio and video footage are also nice for those fans who like that stuff, too.
They have a massive discography; they had to make the decision *somewhere* on how to arrive at the initial setlist.
It's a beautiful game, I think. Aesthetically, it's solid, consistent, and lovingly-done. I hope to get to play more soon, and I cannot *wait* for the Abbey Road tracks to get released!

First of all, I don't think this game was created for the "casual fan". That aside for the moment, I find it VERY hard to believe anyone who actually considers themselves a *fan* of The Beatles would only know a handful of those songs. I find it hard to believe they wouldn't know most of them. And consider for a moment the concept of the game is to follow the LONG career of one of the most well known bands in the world, of course you are going to have an eclectic array from them that starts with their more rock & roll tones onwards to their more psychedelic era.
As Krystyn pointed out, DLC has been there for this game series the whole time. Personally, I'd rather have DLC {akin to game expansions} than have to purchase additional games {which would limit your choices during a random song play session}. Not even to mention, the DLC in this case will allow us to do things like play the entire song sequence from Abby Road {which I am fanatical about!!!}.
The only thing I personally don't agree with was the choice to include the mash up "Within You Without You"/"Tomorrow Never Knows" from the Cirque du Soleil show LOVE. I feel it ruins the beauty of Harrison's vocals by putting a different song behind it {and do not mistake me, I adore both songs on their own}.
But since the topic I am responding to is specifically how it would affect the casual fan I also don't think very many casual fans will care if they do or do not know the songs – I tend to think the casual fan in this case buying this game is buying it for the GAME and not the content per se. I mean, do you know even half the songs on the other rock band games? Do you purchase them for the songs, or for the game?
{edit was to remove a strange extra word}

I am hoping that the full versions of those Harrison songs are released as well, Pixie. I really like the Love arrangements, but as arrangements, not as performance/gaming tracks.

Oh I have my fingers and toes crossed on that one as well, Krystyn, but I fear they won't only because *technically* the songs are already there

But they do sort them by albums, ultimately, and it will be weird to miss out on a few tracks because of it.
*crosses fingers, too*
