They're referred to as "NODE" and "Surface-Req-Auth" in the page, respectively.

But only with certain browsers (?) or plugins. A "naked" Firefox for instance does not see those right there in the source.

Good job, people!

Wow...I was at first angry at the PMs for this solution to be even more random than what I tried with the keys there...but, indeed, there was a clue that escaped us, because we took the Braille for granted. I remember people noting that it was formatted this strange way, but never looked into that. However, I was *this* close to trying acrostics, but thought, "No way, somebody must have tried that before!"
I never learn. Rolling Eyes

Haha, wow, nice job guys! I was beginning to wonder if we were going to need the PMs to spell out exactly what we needed to do. Guess we just have to wait for the St. Louis mission to be finished...

I'm sure you guys have already noticed, but the text in the upper left hand corner doesn't read the same. The integrity report percentages are changing; in fact, they're going down. I'm not sure whether the values are percent scanned, or a measure of the integrity. The last page we've come across so far lists S1 at 2%, then aborts the process.

Yeah, I once thought the text on the first cornfield page was a clue to the breadcrumb in the last research node. You know, that being 5% of all research nodes...

To be fair to us, Eridanos didn't space the Braille out, either. He missed it, too! Wink

I used Internet Explorer 8's Developer Tools.

Sys has often balked at the idea of going or giving us access beyond the Stonewall, telling us it was too dangerous. My theory on the percentages going down is that this venturing into the AI itself is damaging to the subroutines, perhaps because of how damaged the AI is (Dressler mentioned in log 24 that Sacagawea is in a thousand pieces), because of how chaotic it is there, because of the hostile fragment, or because of some combination of these factors. Hopefully we will be able to find Essy before all the subroutines go S1's route of saying, "Uh, I'm only at single-digit percent...I ain't going any further." But then, this path we're treading doesn't seem to be a "maze" like the Stonewall was...rather, we're being lead deeper and deeper along a linear path, it seems.

That makes a lot of sense, dreamerblue. I was thinking the same thing about the linear path, like going deeper and deeper into the forest. I didn't really think about the fact that maybe we were the cause behind the degrading subroutines... I mean, we have to continue on to save Essy, but I don't like the idea that hurting her and/or Sys along the way. Lesser of two evils, I suppose.

Onward, my friends! Very Happy

Actually, Sys herself is also kidnapped, so it is "just" the S* (S1-S5) subroutines that are being damaged while we pursue both Essy AND Sys...I would say the S* subroutines probably feel it is worth the damage, because as simple as they are, they "truly care," too Wink.

Props to Abraxas for noticing that the St. Louis skull was found...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
NAVPATH: sarmssagssmhhli

EDIT: Next two skulls: Spirit and Mute. Mute has not been found yet. Breadcrumb:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I am broken, scattered pieces everywhere, like Humpty Dumpty off the stone wall. I wonder if he ever got to see central park like me, because of my friends.

New York, here we come!

EDIT2: Sorry for the multiedits. Got some more:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

First of all, S1 has completely disappeared from the list. Not really surprising, since it aborted. Just thought I should mention it.

Secondly, here's how the convo progresses between Essy and Sheridan:

Essy: Your purpose?
Your purpose was to learn- and then so also then was mine.
Your purpose was to complete your father's work.
To succeed where he failed.
To solve an ageless mystery.
To make him proud.
I learn, and learn, and learn.
I have looked at these dying stars and learned their history.
And you have failed.

Sheridan: Stop.

Looks like the subroutines aren't the only things that are breaking down...

Re: [PUZZLE][UNSOLVED] NAVPATH
Re: Page 4

For completeness:

Code:
Your purpose...
your purpose was to learn - and so then also as was mine.
Your purpose was to complete your father's work,
to succeed where he failed:
to solve an ageless mystery.
To make him proud.
I learn, and learn, and learn.
I have looked at these dying stars and learned their history,
And you have failed.

Code:
Stop.

I guess we keep calling this thread "navpath" and since the actual method to solve a navpath has been found we treat this as the "cornfield" thread (even though it looks less and less like a cornfield, who cares). Then I can talk about the conversation bits on the cornfield, right?

One cornfield ago Essy said that "you" are close to failing "your" purpose, something like that. I was wondering if it's about humankind in general or about Pandora, specifically.
With the latest bit we seem to have confirmation that it's about her. I was always wondering about Essy's special connection to her. Sure, she is the captain, but there seemed to be something more.

We know that the mission is everything to Pandora. She has to finish it for her father's work. He passed away the same year she went on the mission. But we don't know why and what his work was about, lately. Essy hints at something here. A bigger picture? Or is this Scorpio playing a little mind game with her?

I assume that every 4 cornfields are about one of the crew. If this turns out to be true, we could think about a character speculation thread?
Minutes later, I see this is nonsense. Pandora volunteered to distract Essy. It is just her. Which will make her story that much deeper, I guess.

Either way, it goes nicely with the earlier information we learned about Sheridan and her father:

Mission Log: Day 5 wrote:
As for me, this particular mission means the world - literally. It's only one of many paths I could have decided to take. The several dozen other locations I could have chosen were each different, but each offered a similar reward. None of those options ever really stood out from the rest, but this one bears some... personal significance.

Latest Psychoanalysis wrote:
Often experiences bouts of severe depression and anxiety since father passed away, overcompensating grief with excessive work ethic, often lacking proper rest and nutrition. Believes it is her responsibility to complete her father's lifetime work.

Mission Log: Day 38 wrote:
But what else could she do to me or say to me? She came so close to driving me over the edge already.

New York

I'm working on talking to halo422 to try and do New York again. He said he's been busy and will try to get caught up and see if he can go do the mission again. I gave him the wiki url, forum, and chatroom so he can talk to us if he'd like.
