ARGFest 2007 was in San Francisco.
ARGFest 2008 was in Boston.
ARGFest 2009 was in Portland, OR.

We try to move it around the country to be fair. This year was on the northwest so it makes sense to look to the central or east and to the south.

But it will also be up to the locals to come up with a proposal and committment/dedication to be the ground forces.

Well then Milwaukee would fit right in but maybe like Toronto or some other city somewhere could be a better fit for ARGFest '10

Milwaukee does have The Safehouse restaurant (the website doesn't do it justice). It's a spy-themed restaurant that is so secret it doesn't even have a front door with a name on it. You have to go around into the alley and figure out where to go in. It's very ARGish. Smile

There's also one of the caches from The Secret (the treasure hunt novel, not the kooky book/movie) there that has never been found. Would be great to set loose a group of ARGers on it!

I know I don't have a whole lot of power as far as planning an event goes, but I think somewhere in the Midwest/east U.S. would be an effective solution. Two cities come to mind: Kansas City and Nashville, TN.

Now, I certainly do have some bias as I'm located in the Central U.S., but I think it would probably be the most convenient location. I know there's a big push for a Canadian ARGfest, but in addition to all of the reasons that have been brought up already, a big portion of this community (myself included) are fairly broke college students. Laughing There's no way that a lot of us would be able to afford that kind of thing, and I attendance for something like that would probably be driven down.

Plus: 2007 was on the West Coast
2008 was on the East Coast
2009 was on the West Coast

Let's get some central states love. Laughing

New Orleans would be a good place, think of all the historical haunts here, plus it is the kind of thing that the city is always looking for, there is a huge convention center near the riverwalk, close the the french quarter. new orleans is always looking for some way to bring tourist into th city, so what better place to have the 2010 ARGfest than in a city that loves tourists and has more than enough hotels and places to accomidate the mass volume of people who would be coming into the city. New Orleans is a city built on tourism, plus think of how cool it is to be around the historic buildings and cemetaries?

I know early on Orlando was done before ARGfest got really big. A few of us do live in the Orlando area and I would volunteer to help out.
To do a new city I suggest FLA's oldest city, Historic ST. Augustine. Lot's to do.

I do like the the Moon suggestion though with a Festquest Space cruise.

Yep! It'll go something like this... a survey about ARGFest 2009 will be hitting the internets soon. This will give us a better idea of the things that we're looking for in locations which will be super valuable info for those wanting to submit proposals. So, once we get through some of that data, we'll likely issue an RFP of sorts. So, keep your eyes peeled for that survey (my best guess is that you'll see it by the end of the week).

I'm for Milwaukee but I'm by Green Bay (Go Packers). So I don't know much but in Milwaukee you can visit the Harley-Davidson museum right off of US-41-45

St. Louis could be good, too. It's pretty central, and I live only about an hour east. I'm not sure what we could do in St. Louis, but I'll do some research.
