Someone over in the "Possible steg in the wav files" thread thinks they could have found chinese symbols in a decrypted text file hidden in the wav.
Dana is in china at the moment.

I'm reposting this from elsewhere, so I will go ahead and self-trout:
Okay, so -- people seem to think the cop in emergency.wav is saying "Paris 23 police station."
He's not. He's saying "Parish 23 police station." I mean, that's how it sounds to me. But it does seem pretty distinct, too, and I have no doubt that's what he's saying.
A search for "parish" didn't return anything before I posted this the first time in another thread, so I think it's actually not trout.
Of course, this is undoubtedly all but irrelevent to the plot. But if a police station is affiliated with a "parish" (a religious geographic district) then perhaps separation of church and state has collapsed, which is vaguely interesting in terms of understanding what kind of world it is.
What with "parishes" alongside "pop quizzes" and earth immigration being difficult, the future appears a bit more laden with governmental control than modern American government ...
[edit: fixed spelling]

It's spelt parish.
A parish is a church community.

Ah. That'll teach me to trust lots of Google hits. "Parrish" is a surname, oops. Anyway, fixed now.

I have one query: Why would the future be so religous to label a police staion "Parish Twent-Six"? The world is getting less religous right now, not more.

A parish isn't just a church community; it's also the name Louisiana gives to what every other state in the U.S. calls counties.

Heh. Remind me -- what does the A in "ARG" stand for, again?
This story has colony planets, alien invaders, girls who can jump off three-story buildings. I wouldn't be so sure those things are really going to happen in the future either. But as long as there is internal consistency, it works for me.

[spec] What now that the wavs have been compiled I know this is spec, and not entirely belonging in this thread, but just wanted to respond to some comments of the PMs killing the game vs what aren't we doing and 9i0's question of what to do next and mentioning of Melissa's leave on the website "By broadcasting the voices to my crew, they will be able to assess the damage. Once assessed, the damage can be repaired."
My best thought are that we have to arrange the wavs in order like we've been doing (assessing the damage that the communication is FUBARed pseudo-dyslexic... and repairing it occurs by putting them in the right order) and then possibly send an email to the ladybee account with a link to the full wavs edit (thus maybe that'll lock in her processes and fix the 'dyslexia' kind of zeroing a scale to make it useful). I'm sure this is mostly trout (I'm hoping I'm not the first to mention sending it back to her), but I'm thinking maybe we haven't ordered them exactly right which may be the holdup...or we need to keep them as three seperate acts when sending to her instead of one continuous stream. Dunno. Haven't contributed much so far aside from trout, and so not expecting this post to be any different...(for the record I'd consider myself roughly 75% current...but it is daunting if you don't skim some threads....and i searched "combined wavs Melissa"...which I admit are vague terms, but I couldn't think of a more relevant and specific way to categorize what I was looking for)

Well, as has been mentioned lots already, the Parish 23 cop calls the Bergen County Emergency Center... so probably not Louisiana...

But ladybee777 isn't Melissa, it's the Sleeping Princess. Which doesn't mean we shouldn't inform her of our progress; it's just that Melissa doesn't seem to be listening to anyone right now. Except maybe the Flea.
My understanding is that there we have no communication channel through which to talk to Melissa. And my sense is, I think that's how the PMs want it...

Come on, dude. It's not like people are going delusional. Taking the game fairly seriously is HOW people are having fun with it. It doesn't mean they're looking out for Covvie dropships in the skies. (Though a guy can hope..! )

Well, who knows? Maybe on Earth in 2550, religion is defunct and terms in the past relating only to religion have been changed to mean other things? A lot can happen to a language in 500 years...

So... then I assume that you have seen the movie "50 First Dates".
I have a question for you. How do you know that you are a Burnout if you can only retain info for a couple of minutes? Sounds very contradictory to me.
