Were you around for ILB when one of the players acted against the rest of the playerbase and the protagonists on his own? It wasn't pretty.

Au contraire! That was one of my favorite parts of ilovebees!

Citing weephun's Rat Bastard event as a cautionary tale doesn't really work, as his betrayal of the Sleeping Princess was done in loyalty to Melissa, and galvanized the community in surprising and ultimately beneficial ways.

I have no real knowledge of what's going on with Purity Towers, as I've been lurking/skimming, but I had to raise a slight objection here to your assertion that the ILB incident would in any way 'prove' the argument that players shouldn't be able to play however they want to play.

It's ultimately up to the Puppetmasters to respond accordingly and frame their narrative to embrace or exclude the consequences of player actions. That's pretty much always been true; even the The Red King had his day in the sun ...
