Eternal Prison

I am putting this here rather than News&Rumors because I am pretty sure that this is a timewaster/viral rather than an actual ARG, but Jeff Somers has come up with a "text adventure" game (think Zork) to promote his latest book, The Eternal Prison.

http://www.eternalprison.com/

His previous books had ARGs associated with then:

The Electric Church: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=20984
The Digital Plague: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=25347

[caveat: I played the Digital Plague and found it.... disappointing. Perhaps this text adventure will be more fun.]

Well, I've had a quick go with it, and it's OK. I actually ended up downloading the Chengara.z5 file and playing it offline in frotz. Good writing, but the interactive fiction side of things isn't so great, for example you have to switch buttons instead of pressing them, and if you revisit a room after manipulating it sometimes the room description doesn't match the state of the game.

Also, how can I drown in a cell when there's a

tunnel leading down in the wall?

I got stuck at the elevator control panel. I know it's something to do with
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
C major chords, F, Em, Am, from the scratches on the walls

but however I try to enter that on the pad it fails. This is always really frustrating in IF, when you think you've solved the puzzle but just can't seem to enter it in the way the game wants you to.

Finally, xyzzy isn't implemented! What next, no grues?

Yeah, I don't know why the parser was modified for push/press, especially since you never need those, anyway. Confused
Then again, it's in the help and just the switch (ha!) of a word.

I want to know where the cellmate went. The alive one. Laughing

You are very close. In fact, you already left out the last part of the clue, which is good, because you don't really need it. I got stuck on that for a while. Look into a different representation of what you already got. But you need the first part inside the combination!

I think I don't spoil too much if I tell you, yes, there are no grues. Razz
