Melissa's Musings

Props! Dusty has managed quite a coup for us. Having forged a relationship with Melissa, she encouraged her to begin a blog and make it public.....

Melissa's Musings is the name and here is the link: http://melissamusing.wordpress.com/

Melissa has updated her blog. She ends with a code phrase. Could be an alphabet substitution:

Melissa, I'm intrigued.

What does being a Biographer for the Proscript Party involve...? I wouldn't have thought there was much to their story we don't already know...or arn't being told about already. Do you record the information? Something for the Party's future generations? And what exactly does your reasearch include? Do you cover much of the Grotian side of things? Or is that something the Party's happy to, perhaps, skip over. I find, at the moment I have a rather cynical view of these things, so apologies. I mean no disrespect.

Kind Regards,

MK.

MK,

I'm just someone who does a lot of research, talks to a bunch of politicians and historians, and then writes it all up. It's not really exciting. The important stuff everyone knows from history lessons, but I find out the little tidbits that would go in a biography. Families, important relics, all that.

Yawn.

I suppose there isn't much of a market for Grotian literature. Never been approached about it before.

Sounds interesting to me, but I suppose if you've done it for a while it might get a little dull.

I'm surprised there hasn't been more done in regards to the Grotians. Unlikely as it may be that the Proscript Party would be interested, I'm sure there's many a Grotian out there who'd find an explanation for their cirumstances highly enlightning. Not to mention entertaining. Surely though, their background and history would be of some interest, somewhere? They played their part in the War just as the Proscripts did.

I'm sure you're smart enough to know that there's two sides to every story. It's difficult to get a whole view/understanding of the way things are now without a more...balanced history. Being spoonfed the same story for so many years must get tiring. There's so much more to it and so much more out there.....I don't know. Haven't you ever been the least bit curious? I know I have....just a little.

MK.

Hm. I've actually never wondered before. That makes me seem narrow-minded, doesn't it? But it never crossed my mind until now. I guess since most Grotians have trouble with words and sentences, and since they have so little free time, it's unlikely they would ever ask for a history.

Maybe I will check around for something. They might have stories they tell aloud...

~ Melissa

How on earth did you decode that?!

(And, in particular, is it systematic enough that I could respond in the same cipher?)

Edit: nevermind, I got it. Embarassed

From a message from Melissa...

Here is the relevent (non chit-chat) part of a message I got from Melissa today. I don't know if it is new info, or even helpful, but here it is:

Quote:
"Here are some notes I pulled up from an article I put together once about Phillip Thomas:

Thomas lost his wife several years ago, but lives a very private life, so not much is available about him. He's been in the Party his entire career, no children, works all the time, never seen at public functions. Seems to hate socializing.

A really interesting person, let me tell you. Hrm."

Hope it helps someone!

Well, I'm sending them off. Someone's going to have me on record. I really hope that was a good idea, but, after all, I'm just saying how I feel.

Mel's latest FB status confirms she has done it. So major Props and thanks go to our Dusty and anyone working so smartly with her. Wink.

I've contacted Melissa, I feel there may be more information to come, though I'm posing as a Proscript insider and fellow 'sympathiser' for the moment to see what that approach yields.

Subj: Proscript history

Dear Melissa,

I'm told by some of our mutual friends that you're currently hard at work on a full account of the glorious history of the Proscript people and, to that end, I have been instructed to offer you the full services of the Party's marketing department upon completion.

I'd appreciate it if you would contact me at your earliest convenience to discuss strategies for dissipating this vital piece of literature among the people so that they may be used in both education and re-education schemes throughout the Proscript Zone, as well as for the pleasure of our more learned citizens.

I was asked to contact you by one of the deputies of the underground. Are you able to speak freely through this e-mail account?

Warmest regards,
