Hunting of the Snark?

I've been following this for weeks, but haven't had anything to contribute. I've been puzzling over the most recent clue, and apparently "The Hunting of the Snark" was inspired by the White Knight. I've tried that in the puzzle with NO luck, but I thought it might give someone else some ideas.

does anyone remember the outcome of the hunt, or anything signifigant? I'll try searching a pdf file for through the looking glass and I'll search for the white knight. (through the looking glass is open to the public domain)

P.S. I recall him having to do something with humpty dumpty, and mourning over not being able to put him back together?

P.S.S. Does Mark have a copy of the book? you'd think he would by now after all of the looking glass references.

I didn't remember the Knight's Box.....going to mull that one over.

Next: "It was a glorious victory, wasn't it?" (eh)
Next: "What's the dish for?" (eh.)
Next: "What makes you say that?" (eh. Not too interesting)
`Does that kind go smoothly?'
`Well, just then I was inventing a new way of getting over a gate -- would you like to hear it?'
`What does it matter where my body happens to be?
"down the hill and over that little brook, and then you'll be a Queen--But you'll stay and see me off first?"

Here's all the text thus far.

I wouldn't be so sure. i did some research, and as it turns out, the very book itself starts out talking about chess. (the board we are looking at slightly resembles a chess board) Alice is playing chess with her cat and says something about the knight. Then, the next reference is when she is with the white king and queen, and randomly writes the following into the king's book: THE WHITE KNIGHT IS SLIDING DOWN THE POKER. HE BALANCES VERY
BADLY

Probably nothing that helps us, but it's worth a shot. I didn't find the hunting of the snark thing with the white knight in it. it appears he is only referenced at the begining and in chapter 8.

Edit: at the end of chapter 8, in his song, he asks this question often to the old man: "Come, tell me how you live," I cried,
"And what it is you do!"

*searching for an answer...*

As it turns out, he's not mentioned in the hunting of the snark at all. arg! the only book he is in is through the looking glass, and he only asks like 12 questions, and none of them work. guess we'll have to wait for update...

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that the White Knight was mentioned in "The Hunting of the Snark." But apparently "The Hunting of the Snark" was a result of one line in the "Alice in Wonderland" text. I found this from an anotated version online

" ' ... I suggest that when the White Knight said that his horse's anklets were to guard against the bites of sharks, the compositor made the very easy substitution for an 'n' for an 'h', and set Carroll wondering what the bites of snarks were like... wondering until inevitably The Hunting of the Snark followed, which is the way such things get written' - A.A. Milne, Year In, Year Out (1952)"

I realize that this is a stretch, but it fits with the timeline and "The Hunting of the Snark" was mentioned earlier.

Ah, that is odd... in fact, Mark may not have a copy of through the looking glass, but as it turns out, he does have a copy of the hunting of the snark. And it's opened to the page with the map (although the dotted line of the map isn't on it for some reason) and he has a sticky note in one of the other pages. most interesting...

Edit: If anyone feels as though they must hunt in the book about hunting, a snark that is, the hunting of the snark can be read here - - -> http://tigtail.org/TIG/HOT/Scripts/carroll_hunting_of_the_snark.1876.pdf

just googled phronima and found out it is a deep sea shrimp.. not necessary for the puzzle but thought it was interesting lead for mark. Sorry if this was posted earlier

EDIT: with the update I believe that the phronima is the animal Mark asked Inman about (replied in the letter by the lamp on the left)

We have already heard this one. and also, for the post above yours, we already figured that one out too. we're a step ahead of Mark, you see. (also, looked it up, the connection between phronima and the greek is that there is a theological journal named phronema... coincidence? I think not. but it doesn't matter, because we solved that riddle already)

I must be missing the obvious, but there is this Hunting of the Snark copy? I clicked all over the room and can't find it.
