I have a really (REALLY) hard time blaming any (real) players for feeling how they do about this 'game.'

Personally, I don't think it makes Junko 'odd.' I think 'Junko' is sandbagging because the PM doesn't have anything to give the players that doesn't all apart when poked. It'd be neat to be wrong, but 80 pages later, and ... ?

Who is Seth Anubi? I've tried to add him as friend on FB and have got this private message:

NEVER TRUST
NEVER BE DEFEATED

Also, he haven't granted my request.

The PM just needs to get a move on and stop bringing things to a grinding halt every time somthing goes awry. It's obvious people's interest is starting to wane, and The Junsui saying there's going to be no continuation until sites are pulled down is going to piss more people off.

If they just cracked on with the manifestation or the update of sheistheorigin like promised then the showpages site will probably just blow over. Hell, I'm sure most people aren't even aware of the secret text within the flash.

Side note, I think Seth is either IG or trying to be IG and knows that he's gonna start getting a lot of friend requests from people from all over the world and is playing along.

uploading to youtube is actually ok, as you'd merely be creating a record of the "live" stream. but by rehosting a key component to the game (they're probably going to rescue her and need to control the content of the stream) you'd be hampering the progression of the game.

Knowing how this PM has reacted in the past, I'm pretty sure that if we did put it all on YouTube, he'd go out of his mind.

Quote:

Unless I'm missing it, I haven't seen anywhere where they've said that publicly. Sadly, when things get this out of hand, it's worth considering stepping out from behind the curtain in order to try to talk some reason in to people.

And "no continuation" only damages his product, his bottom line, and his followers who are dwindling each day (at least I think they are; he is getting 200+ followers a day on FB).

As a PM, one of the things you have to be ready for is to adapt to the unpredictability of your players. Crying about anonymous players and putting a halt to the game for something that I personally don't see as a "showstopper" shows inexperience and lack of understanding of the genre. If that's the case, he shouldn't have done such an epic production in the first place and gotten some professional (no, not that kind of "professional") help.

It was mentioned here as a response to a Facebook message, but, yeah, you're right -- it hasn't been said publicly.

Sadly, it sounds like something Junsui would say on the Facebook page. I wouldn't mind it if the PM stepped in OOG and addressed these people directly. That way they get told and I don't have to see it and can just continue with the game.

I did a network capture of the data pulled when each site (official and unofficial) and they're both pulling straight from the feeds at the PM's site. The PM could pull those feeds at any time and it'd stop working. That also completely nullifies any copyright violation claim as mentioned earlier as they're coming from the content owner itself, not from a third party who doesn't have distribution rights.

This is the equivalent of me posting music I've written on my site and someone else hotlinking it on a music forum, or similar with my photography. There is no copyright violation there as it's coming from my own machine. The most I can do is a referrer check and block referrers that I don't authorize.

As for bandwidth, anyone seeing this is going to be using the same amount of bandwidth as someone using the site - actually less. I measured that as well.

It's no big deal, the PM should just move on and let the game go instead of ruining his client's bottom line and potentially his career as a marketer. At this point he's just sabotaging the campaign he's running, and to be honest I was hoping to see how it played out, it definitely had an interesting start. I'd like to see how it carries on.

But what would you say about seeing the same video each time on the "illegal" translation?

You're seeing the same video every time on the official site as well, it just starts the feed at random places. Capture the packets if you like, you'll see an offset in the HTTP request for the video itself, and that offset is randomly set and determines where in the video you'll start. My guess is the times she's out of the room are for switching between the various videos (so they can semi-randomize the sequence of events) without having to do a transition - she somehow gets out of the room at the end of one video and is put back in at the start of another video, and that's when you see her not in the room. Seamless transition, cake.

This thread is really exploding, unfortunately with a high percentage of unrelated posts. I really hope that we soon get promoted and can start several threads:
One for wild story speculation, one for "which of those players could be an IG char", one for META discussion, one for "the PMs are sh**** people", one for just offending each other, one for "how to hack those servers" and if we are lucky there will be one for the game itself Smile

I agree. As im new here, what would be needed to be 'promoted' to a full ARG thread?
