[Trailhead] Sherlock Holmes
ARG or Viral?

Found via twitter: http://94.236.57.221/

Don't know if it's a full fledged ARG or just a viral, but seems fun.

Also, how Lation Review got to it: http://www.latinoreview.com/news/guapo-cam-cool-viral-website-for-sherlock-holmes-7787

(merged this post and the one below it from a separate thread to this one. ~drizjr)

How the HELL did I not see this? My radar must be toast.

At Comic-con - I picked up from the WB booth two cards. Immediately I noticed they should be put together. Quickly noted the phrase that becomes visible, and highlighted letters, and odd numbers on the card faces.

It was so freaking busy and somehow it simply did not click... this was weeks ago. See attached photo.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

So I've been readin' up on Madame Norton, nee Adler, and heres what I've found: Holmesy was outwitted by her in A Scandal in Bohemia, and has great admiration for her. On a related note, she has had intimate relationships with the King of Bohemia, but has since become married. She turns up in multiple other stories, either in passing, or as a minor character.

Professor Moriarty- appears in pretty much all the major Holmes stories. Evil. 'Nuff said.

The Magus- No idea. Nothing throughout all 62 Holmesian stories. Nothing. Nill. Nada.

At present, I'm tryin' to get a script for the film, which should help clear things up.

And no, there ain't no way in hell I'm puttin' 'g's at the ends of my words.[/spoiler]

[Research] four words of the magnus

You guys did a much better job transcribing what is said than I ever could.

Googling "four words of the magus" gives us the source of the dialog on http://94.236.57.221/

It's from "Transcendental Magic: Its Doctrine and Ritual" By Éliphas Lévi (GoogleBooks link.)

Here's the exact text from the book.
Quote:
To attain the sanctum regnum, in other words, the knowledge and power of the magi, there are four indispensable conditions--an intelligence illuminated by study, an intrepidity which nothing can check, a will which nothing can break, and a discretion which nothing can corrupt and nothing intoxicate. TO KNOW, TO DARE, TO WILL, TO KEEP SILENCE--such are the four words of the magus, inscribed upon the four symbolical forms of the sphinx.

These are also known as the four powers of the sphinx.
