Hi Jo.
Sorry it took me a while to get back to you. That St. Joseph's party
was a nightmare. With the new website and the increased internet traffic
finding us, our email and phone has been just off the hook. I've got so many reservation and private party requests to deal with, it leaves little time for more casual conversations.

The "web" guy I've been interested in, his name is Bruce. He is more
about the website traffic than about the art part (he let that girl from
Silverribbons do the art work). His job is more mechanical and marketing. So now that we're up and running, he probably won't be around here as much (sigh). Unless I can somehow create a website problem (he doesn't charge much, only by the hour, and I'm sure Uncle Don can afford it with all the new business lately).

Damn, more phone calls. Gotta run.
Angie

I got an email from Angie too - some more details about Bruce and about herself...

Hi .
How was your vacation? Where did you go?
Yes, I like the new design also. The big part that Bruce contributes (well, his company) is the marketing. We are getting so many hits and phone calls about the restaurant. Makes it difficult to keep up with all the correspondence (and my usual duties here). In life, he's really neat (as in never a stitch of clothing out of place, hair always combed, and he smells so nice).

I'm only half-italian (my mother). My dad is Jewish. We're not into our roots. Never went to church or temple. Took my mom away from NJ and we never looked back. Until I needed a job and a way out of the house. Uncle Don made an offer my mom couldn't refuse (I get a nice apartment, a nice paycheck, and good food; and hopefully met a nice guy and get married soon).

Have a great day. Angie

REPLY:

Hi Jo! Hope you and your fiance are still doing okay.
No, haven't seen Bruce lately. But I did ask him to come over and teach
me some about the website stuff, here is his reply:

I'd love to stop by and give you some hands on instruction in how to make minor changes to the site yourself. Perhaps we can get together
sometime next week.

Sincerely,
Bruce

See? I'll get to see him soon...if I'm not too busy. Sal and Marco are leaving town "on business" this week and leaving me a ton of paperwork (bills, payroll, etc). Probably just as well. Sal keeps playing with the computer and getting into the restaurant's email - some of the stuff I found in my inbox after I got back from vacation sounded really off the wall. I don't know why Uncle Don even lets then near the place - both of them have a real knack for making a mess of things, if you know what I mean. Last time Marco did the payroll...well...we had a few angry cooks. And you should have seen what happened when Frank let them host one of the theme nights (we were lucky no one tried to sue us).

Empty Threats? When Uncle Don opened the restaurant he played up on
the New Jersey and Italian stereotypes (it was more like a dark family Italian restaurant, 1920's stuff on the walls, etc). Later on Frank added the musical entertainment and lightened up the decor (really changed it), but they kept the name because the reputation of the food had really made the restaurant popular.

Hope to meet you soon.

Angie

Silveribbons & things

We're definitely getting some info on this family and how they may relate to Dale's incident. Sal, Marco, and Frank are obviously the brothers from Dale's journal, right? He said he found the "creditors" from his work with anonymousfame. Here's my latest from Angie. (Silveribbons stuff)

Quote:

Bill,
Here is the website for that silveribbons gal.

Personally, I've never met her. Bruce was the only computer person who ever
comes by the restaurant in person. Usually stuff is handled over email or
telephone.

Things are getting pretty busy around here for me. Sal and Marco are going out
of town this week (some stupid "business" trip midstate) and leaving me with
some extra paperwork and a stack of bills that have to be paid, as well as
doing the payroll (again). Probably a good thing, since they seem to always
mess it up. Frank has already had to redo it about 3 times this year. Jeesh,
don't know why Uncle Don lets them stay in the business.

Some restaurant advice? Hire a professional payroll company.

Angie

I've e-mailed Silveribbons asking about her business and Bruce. See what happens...

Hi Jo,
You sound different, like you are really excited or something.
So many questions. Let's see.

First off, Bruce is all of a sudden acting interested in me (like he read my
mind). I asked him about showing me some stuff about making my own changes to
the website and he offered to come over this week, so then I suggested
Wednesday afternoon (after lunch but before the dinner crowd started showing
up). Check this out:

Angie:

Shall we say four PM, then? I assume you might like a break from the restaurant
you work at every day. If so, after we talk perhaps we can catch a bite to eat
somewhere nearby.

As to what I want to know about you, thus far we've only scratched the surface.
I'm curious about what brought you to the restaurant business, and whether
you're a friend or a member of the Marzano family. But I also want to find out
what you like to do when you're not working, what your long-term aspirations
are, and so on. Not that we have to cover all that ground in one day, if it
turns out that we get along well. Please let me know if I'm being too forward --

I certainly don't mean to be.

Sincerely,
Bruce

All of a sudden he is interested. What should I wear? What should I say?
Really I don't know any thing about him except that he is a wizard at publicity
(look at all the business the restaurant is getting after the new website). And
the emails. I've heard from people all over the world (why is that, we're not a
chain restaurant, only have this one location). So this job that started out as
taking reservations, answering a few emails each week, and seating customers,
has turned into almost an hour every day on the computer.

And more paperwork since Sal and Marco keep going out of town. The other day
Marco wanted me to get his car washed!!! Am I his personal secretary? I
didn't go to college for 5 years just to be a secretary for such an idiot
(yeah, I know, but I took a lot of electives and fun stuff, and maybe too many
parties). At least I graduated college. From what Frank has told me, those two
barely graduated high school. They have some juvenile rap sheet that is suppose
to be a mile long (but I heard the Uncle Don pulled some strings and they never
had to do any time - but maybe if they had been stuck in Juvie they might not
get into so much trouble now). Personally, I think he and Frank bail them out
too often. But I'm little Angie, "Maria's good little girl", I'm not suppose
to know about any bad stuff. They have a habit of getting all quiet and it sure
seems like they are changing the subject if I get to close to the table during
any "business" discussions.

Yeah, pretty strange happenings over on the other side of the world. I'm just
glad that the US is doing so well and maybe this will all be over soon. Ha,
maybe if Sal and Marco were drafted they might get their heads on straight?

Have fun in school. I had a little French when I was in grade school (strange
6th grade teacher, "Mrs Rentch taught us French" before lunch every day, I
remember how to count 1-10 out loud. But in high school and college I decided
that Spanish would be more useful at the time (I grew up in the Southwest US).
Had to take a year of language as a requirement for graduation. But if you
don't practice, you forget most of what you learn. So, by now, I've forgotten
most of it.

Oh damn, Sal's on the phone. Yelling about something. Gotta run.

Angie

Angie & Bruce...

Here is my latest from Angie. Seems her & Bruce are definitely getting together.

Quote:

Hi xxxxx,
Guess it is a small world. Yes, Bruce is the website designer/engineer for us.
And, well, we just went out on our first date this week. I don't think Sal &
Marco were very happy he was even talking to me (if Sal's eyes had heat vision,
poor Bruce would have had holes drilled into his head). We went to a different
restaurant for dinner and then Bruce took me to see Chicago (turns out that not
only had I seen it before, but so had he, however, we both love that movie so
it didn't matter). I think he may really like me, looks like we're going to go
to NY to see The Producers next week.

How's your business and your own website going?

Angie

later,
Bill
