"Men of Taste" website

At some point on August 23rd, the "Men of Taste" website ( http://www.menoftaste.com/ ) changed:

Quote:
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

MOSCOW - 23. August 2009

OAO Alfa-Tsentr announced today that they had been the target of a smear campaign orchestrated by hostile criminal syndicates on Internet forum boards. Roman Azef, CEO and president for the firm, described many of the allegations as "outrageous and irresponsible libel", including those reports from several major news outlets which raised possibility of the company's involvement in a recent series of "denial of service" internet attacks upon multiple American-based internet sites.

Azef addressed other allegations, denying his company's involvement with any wrongful detainment or incarceration of individuals, of Russian citizenry or otherwise. According to Mr. Azef, the denial of service attacks are believed to have originated in multiple international locations including the United States. He added that Alfa-Tsentr has been fully cooperating with authorities in the United States in their investigation.

Based in Beloretsk, Russia, Alfa-Tsentr is a premier contractor of large infrastructure and mining projects as well as a respected operator within the global private security industry.

-=O=-

Now, I find it necessary to mention... In the last 24 hours, an "Alexander Dubrovin" Facebook account appeared and invited me, and only me. In light of recent events, I have asked for confirmation from the account in the only way I know how: I have asked them to tell me the date and time of the last communication I received from Alexander Dubrovin.

Furthermore, a "Men of Taste" group has appeared on Facebook.

I do not know the legitimacy of either of these; whether they're "in game" or part of the disinformation tactics.

I'd like to add that there was some interesting text written in the meta data on the MoT website.

Quote:

<meta name="robots" content="noindex, noarchive">

<meta name="keywords" content="menoftaste, men of taste, Beloretsk, Brooklyn, USA, United Russia, Ju" />

<meta name="description" content="Men of Taste - Men of Taste is a North American PR company and cultural program foundation. The organization represents a discerning group of leaders and patrons who have chosen to distinguish themselves in an increasingly global economy. The organization's efforts are focused at providing members with access to a wealth of relevant cultural information as well as facilitating cooperation in the sharing of material assets and infrastructure where it benefits the public domain." />

<meta name="verify-v1" content="Z7MhNtCiU1cTEvJM+sTXQRn3roPZX6a+utKGFDvl7Uc=" />

ETA: What's this "verify-v1" thing? That seems promising. Any ideas?

By the way, I'm pretty terrible when it comes to HTML and web coding, so if that's just normal meta data, forgive me for pointing out something inconsequential.

that verify code is for google indexing, to verify that you're the owner of said site.

I had a feeling it was something like that. Just ignore it, then.

where did manoftaste come from?

I read something about Dubrovin talking to nighthawk (I believe) on skype, where did that conversation come from?, I mean... did nighthawk contact Dubrovin or the other way around?... why?

What's MoT relation with alfa-tsentr?

Sorry for asking so many questions but I'm kind of new to all this thing.

I got an e-mail inviting me to this group as well.

This may have just piqued my interest enough to start playing again, considering Junko has been such a raging bitch to me for no reason.

This time I'm using another account with limited information. Wink

Yeah, ok, I'll bite and follow this Men of Taste thing. Just let me sort out an alternative e-mail address in case we end up with another case of absoloute dickery from them as well.

I was "friended" by him on Facebook; I was apparently the first and only one to have that done to at the time.

In light of the recent disinformation tactics, I asked him to prove to me he is who he said he was.

Here is the exchange:

1) He sends an invite to me. I, of course, am skeptical.

2) My first msg to him:

Quote:
Truly amazing coincidence that you show up here on Facebook.

So... how's it going? Read any good books lately?

It was snarky on purpose. I didn't believe it to be them.

3) Their response:

Quote:
Hello Mr. Flor,

Actually our meeting is more intentional than coincidence. But I suppose you are being clever with your American brand of irony? Fair enough.

It seems that you and I have both share a problem: one that ultimately needs fixing. Judging by my research, you seem like an ideal candidate to make that happen.

What would you say if I told you I knew something about these pretenders the Junsui; also this quivering primadonna Patrick Marckesano that could completely destroy them?

You know I have been doing a lot of reflecting these past few days. It's such a shame to see one man's destiny lose currency because he overreaches. But that's the history of mankind and all ambition. We always end up destroying and killing what we create.

Regards,
A. Dubrovin

4) The mention of Patrick's name in the message made me EXTREMELY skeptical at this point, expecting that it be a 4chan troll.

My first response:

Quote:
There's only one way I'll believe you're who you say you are.

You sent me an email once: tell me the date and time, give or take two hours.

If you're wrong or don't answer, you will be ignored.

5) In retrospect, the wording of the email... the style of it... kind of matched the mails I've received in the past (which are public knowledge, but still). So I sent another message taking a chance:

Quote:
Actually, scratch that... Now that I actually read your message, I'm intrigued.

What sort of information do you have against them?

I haven't received a response yet, but the autoresponder seems to be the proof I asked.

ETA: I do have to point something out...

The new Alexander Dubrovin on Facebook only has two friends: Me and a Jeff Dissentience, who obviously isn't real.

So, if this is an "in game" account manned by the PM, he's just invited the representation of Junsui's top two enemies.

ETA #2:

I forgot I posted on that page itself...

Quote:
The enemy has started a campaign of disinformation, so much so that we are forced to question even this site's legitimacy.

Please contact us (or me, specifically) privately through a verifiable email address. Once I am sure you are who you say you are, I will verify it publicly and then we can work together to stop the spread of misinformation and deception.

I await your response

So, yeah, we got the proof we need.

Are you friends with him now? I don't see him on your friends list.
