Wouldn't the tower be the links page? Where she can see out to the rest of the world? Fits in with her attention being focused on the axons.

The throne room would be home page. The kitchen is the recipes. Etc.

We know we're almost 500 axons short right? Maybe they're hidden too. I was disappointed to only find 4 more in the kitchen, but this implies that there is a probably more lying around if we can find them.

[Question] Who wrote yellowbrickroad.html?

If Paul P is the winner, then who wrote the yellowbrick road stuff?
As already posted, yellowbrickroad.html seems to answer Andy G's question.

No disrespect intended - because I do believe the things you've mentioned are important - but most important of all would be the files unlocked by those axons, correct? I mean, if The Sleeping Princess is to be trusted, then these transmissions are supposed to be not only secret, but at the direct urging of The Pious Flea. Perhaps they will give us insight into the "truth" he's trying to "reveal"?

All very true. I meant the most important clue from just the 404 page itself, I guess. Thanks for keeping me honest. Wink

No, the new Axons were triggered by the latest 404 message.

recipe3.html was accessible long before but there were no axons on it so the pm's are only releasing them in chunks at the opportune time.

I don't know how to take this. Is she a persons memories, an AI modeled after a human, an AI made as a copy of a human brain, a copy of another ai, or something esle?
She said she does know things and implies that she had loved ones. Would an have loved ones? I don't know. Perhaps she was on the crew and when the accident occured, the computer tried to copy her brain to save her, but with all the damage, destroyed her memories. It also might still split that she is a vatriation of mellisa.
I don't know, I'm rambling a bit here and I admit, I don't know the Halo AI mythos all that well, but we know AI's last something like 7 years. Are there any instances where an AI can be preserved in some form of stasis until it is needed, thus increasing it's life. Also, when an AI comes online, does it grow and matrue, much like a human, in otherwords, would it act imature and childlike, as the SP has, or would it just be fully matured when it is made active. These might all help us further understand the nature of the SP

Could SP be Melissa...

[HUGE SPEC]

I did a quick search and found nothing so sorry if it's a trout... And I
But I was wondering if I am on to something...
Could SP be Melissa's memory? Now I've never even played HALO (so I don't know anything about how this "universe" works), but after reading you guys I think that SP is the memory of Melissa when she was human, or of the human she was based on. Melissa was damaged during the crash, which made her old memories reappear. Now That PF has taken control of Melissa, she wants to know more about herand seeks to hold her old memories, too. That, I think, would explain why SP is in so close to PF and Melissa in the castle.

Hope that made sense, my first language is french... Rolling Eyes

edit: looks like I was on to something, someone started a new thread even more detailed on the subject (sorry, don't know how to link) Sad

I am VERY interested in hearing this one, given the reference in Melissa's story to the attack on Troy.

As far as Halo AI lore, there have been no mentions of human "smart" AIs extending their lifespans beyond seven years. It is possible that one left in an inactive state might not "age", but there is no reference that I have found to this being used. It is known that human "smart" AIs can not copy themselves.

Note that "smart" AIs are rare as they do have a limited lifespan and must be modeled on a human brain; the translation process destroys the brain being modeled, so multiple "copies" of a brain are normally not possible. Also, the subject of the modeling is probably dead before (or certainly after!) the procedure... there is only one prototype for a "smart" AI still alive mentioned in the novels, and that's of one of the primary AI designers. Her brain was flash-cloned for multiple copies, but the success rate was abysmally low. (And the prototype expresses some disgust at having consented, afterward.)

As far as living memories being translated as well as basal functions... we don't know. Similar behaviours have been expressly noted between Cortana and her still-living prototype Dr. Halsey, but there's no mention of memories. However there is nothing forbidding it either.

So many questions. To quote from an earlier Bungie game, "[t]here are obviously many things which we do not understand, and may never be able to."

-- Steve is now plunging into the mystery head-first, trusting it's deep enough that he won't crash into the bottom quite yet.

Staircases and tower...

Quote:
The only way up there is a pair of spiral staircases that wind around one another, with no rail and a very scary drop down the middle. Plus there's nowhere to hide, really, on a staircase.

[SPEC] The pair of spiral staircases are:
* Twisted pair cabling - ethernet perhaps?, or...
* Basic phone wiring consists of just two wires, which could indicate a modem connection.

The "scary drop down the middle" could be the potential for a dropped connection via modem, perhaps?

Either way, that could mean that the Princess is on a separate device/machine than the Queen (Tower = ILB web server?), which is accessible via a connection of some kind, but perhaps over an unencripted channel or protocol, like http, since she says:
