 		Haha, I'm interested to hear what has to say about that, driz! Though to be honest, I have to go with ancalime on this one; I think reintegration would be ideal. After all, a system layer that has lost it's parent process (or AI, in this case) is pretty much a useless layer, and would probably become inactive. Her prime directive would be completed, and she would probably hibernate until she received further orders from S, which woudn't come since Essy is no longer dreaming...

All just speculation, of course, but the point is that I don't think that Sys would be able to survive in our world very long without Essy. Sad

 		If anyone thinks for one hot minute that I would ever suggest Sys get adopted by crazy old obvious Eridanos, well then, she can continue to wait out the slipspace opportunity and then wander aimlessly through ATM networks, adding extra zeroes to peoples' accounts and thereby restoring the economy or something.

 		I stand by my previous statement: I think reintegration is the best course of action. Like Sys said, remaining here would leave her with no directive. Evolution is an intriguing idea, but Sys is an AI in her own right, isn't she? I mean, a very basic one, but an AI nonetheless, otherwise evolution wouldn't be possible for her. Which means, according to the AI theory that we've been operating with, she's bound to go rampant sooner or later.

My understanding is that only "smart" AIs go rampant; so-called "dumb" AIs can run forever. Sys should be safe.
