Spot on, j-dog. If www.templeofevil.com is IG, then you're the man. If not, we're out there, far out there, wandering blindly.
Reading through the bug report you posted, I analysed the directory structure which our man has used. Then I tried www.templeofevil.com/forum -- right on. There's a forum, and it holds posts. I have not yet read anything there however. I will do now to check the likeliness that it is IG.

Possible I guess...
theorder.com, .net, and .biz are also in use but all look legit to me from the whois info.
I like that this is avoiding the entire spam email launch. Nice.
Say Alien Squids, I think Cthulhu.

I've been quietly thinking cthulhu too
In a way, I love the fact this is via mail because it really lends some TINAG to the whole thing, but at the same time, I hate the fact I can't join in with that.

Seems like it probably is not. The content makes it look like it's just a forum used by a small group for misc. discussion (17 members but 4,079 threads). I don't think any PM is going to expect us to comb through 4,000 threads of deviantART and swine flu jokes to find some game clues. (I'm not kidding; in the ten minutes I was on the site, I saw three swine flu jokes.)
www.templeofevil.com/forums leads to a different site, but it's in some other language that I can't even guess at.
EDIT: The second site only has tw threads with zero replies by two different users. And the first thread has a link to porn.

I'm sending my next letter today - I'm hoping to get more info about the Order. If I get some time later, I'll snap pictures of the letters I've been sent. I suppose I should make it known that I typed them exactly as they're typed in the letters - if he failed to capitalize something, I left it lowercase when I typed it up.

I guess what I meant about seeing the actual formatting was [for instance] the blurb from the Professor with the missing words... or the paragraph structure itself. In its current form it will display differently for different folks depending on the setting/sizings used...
... probably nothing, but it's niggling at me... I like to see first hand

I agree, it seems to be OOG. It is however interesting how both www.theorder.org/forum and www.templeofevil.com/forum leads to the same webaddress.
And j-dog, it does not seem to be any legible language. Far too many vocals and stuff. And accents.

OK, so i say this the order / temple of evil thing is a coincidence and we call off the hounds. This sort of thing is a deathtrap for a fledgling game like this .
i emailed the guy after my first post and he is yet to respond.
feel kinda bad for hassling him .
i'm pretty open to ideas atm but unless we get a bone soon...
well, peace and love guys.

Hopefully, I'll have time today to snap a few shots. I don't know why I didn't think to snap them in the first place.
One of the things I don't like about this being in snail mail format is how long it takes! Granted, I've only just gotten enough time to really sit down to form a reply, but as much as I try to claim to be a patient person, I want to know everything right this minute!

Maybe so. Though the "paperbound" refers more to my goals as a writer than anything. And I live here in Texas. And I know a couple of people at A&M. I don't really question "why me?" exactly. I think it's kinda cool. A little odd, but cool just the same.
Hopefully the next letter will have more detail, both about the "beings" (whether they're meant to be squids or something else entirely) and this Order. I'll admit, though, I'm a bit more fascinated with the Order than the creatures.

And there are all sorts of ways info can be hidden in format... Baconian cipher, acrostics, word positions, etc.

Hi Guys,
Total newbie here (and to ARG - Post number 1!), but I'm in on this one and will help out any way I can from this side of the pond.
Judging by the following quote from the first letter
Quote:
Please contact me through letter only for the time being
It does sound like he is leaving the door open to using other comms methods in the future (such as the net).
