Just because they were never all listed in this thread Smile...

From this thread...

Here's what I got from the directory:

82 Ron Daubert - Webmaster
83 Lisa Roman - Casting
84 Sandra Brown - HR
85 Lucy Jenner - Dir. Corp. Comm.
86 Randall Thomas - Dir. Operations
87 - Joe Silver - VP of Productions

80 & 81 went straight to mailboxes without messages, 89 I believe takes you to the operator.

Just called and said I was Mr. Silver and that I needed my voicemail password reset. Omar said that he couldn't do that and employees are not allowed to call this number. When I asked what number I should call, he said he couldn't give that out. When I asked him who told that, he said he wasn't allowed to say and terminated the call.

Just wondering if the number is even worth the time because no interaction seems to be helping.

Kind of depressing. I thought some social engineering might work, but I guess not.

I just tried some of my own, though on a slightly different angle - claiming to be from Games Magazine (if asked, to interview Ron about Puzzlecards.net). Unfortunately, all I found out was what we already knew: He's been gone for some time, and they "don't know" where he is.

Ah well, I did tell them I'd call back in a couple days, maybe if there are any related updates by then I'll be able to get some more information.

Another TT Call

Well I thought I'd try a method..

I went out and did a couple of lookups and while I didn't do an extensive dig... it looks like the TT site is on a eowh.com server.

So I called TT asked for Ron, of course he's out for several weeks. So I asked for his replacement or someone else who's working with the website. See I'm working with eowh you're hosting company and we're seeing a lot of hacking traffic come across the line directed at you site.

Well the phone lady didn't like this and asked for my number and said she'd have the manager get back in touch with me. If I get a call back I figure I'm going to tell them that it appears to be coming from a place called puzzlenet or maybe CMH...

Well, isn't that just a complete and utter lie?

What do you hope to accomplish by doing this?

I don't know. Maybe it's just me, but by doing that, you obviously got the attention of the receptionists {the answering service who was told probably nothing about the game, but just to transfer calls to a VM number...} who in turn are prob running to the PM with your story, and maybe the PM thinks his host is worried about the hacking traffic, and might drop him... and maybe if you do actually get a call back, it's not going to be an in-game char, since you made yourself seem so out of game. Maybe it'll be the PM...

it just doesn't seem like a valid in-game situation anymore. it's like you are trying to tear down the curtain.

i mean... i could be wrong... those are just my opinions.

Actually, I'm not sure if it is just an answering service. When I called, the receptionist put me on hold for about half a minute while they checked if Ron was available, and then came back to tell me he had been gone for a while. This suggests that either they do have some information and the hold was a delaying tactic, or they know to contact a PM to know what to tell callers Either way, though, suggests they are at least somewhat connected with the game.

I have to agree about the "tearing down the curtain" aspect of that path, though. That seems to be going a bit too far.

A beautiful day in the neighborhood

Ya know, maybe it's just me. And maybe I'm just having a bad day. Bang Head But that seems like an awful hypocritical thing to say.

I mean I don't think any of us work for a gaming magazine or that we're going to be shooting documentaries anywhere and need advice. But still things like that are being claimed as part of the game and interaction. I'm sure there's other things along those lines as well but that's all I can think of off the top of my pointy little head. Confused

As for what I was hopping to accomplish. I was hoping to make another contact and perhaps find out more info on Ron and the company. I'm sure there are much better ways of "tearing down the curtain." Not to mention the fact that others post what they think they know about the PMs. While I have no clue about who the PMs are nor do I want to. And based on what I've read here (things like Ron getting emails with secret messages and him deciphering them before sending them back.) I'm sure the PMs would be smart enough to realize that a 214 area code, which is the number, is /not/ located in FL where this hosting company seems to be based.

Just my 2 cents. Dunno

PS it's been nearly 4 hours since I made that call and I have yet to hear anything from it.

No, but those people are "playing the game", they are not talking about hacking, or being blunt about "this arg" or anything. Not that you did, but I still don't agree with they way you handled it. I saw someone who claimed they were doing a doc on reality tv shows. that's playing the game, pretending the reality shows are real... worrying someone about the webspace, not the same, IMHO.

from what i understand, and it's not much, servers can be located in totally different places than the hosts main location, and can have multiple locations. Also, i never said you were the only one trying to tear the curtain down, or you were the worst or anything like that. i was just making an observation. And the peopel SPEC on who the PM is are making it very unobviously obvious, so people who don't want to know - won't.

I'm sorry we offended you, but i'm at least glad i'm not the only one who held this POV.

If all of your friends jumped off a bridge...

Let's not get arguements of TINAG vs RP in the way of this experience.

If I had a say, I'd say just use common sense, and try not to lie.

Righto.
