[UPDATE] Week four election tests, complete picture

Finished out this week's puzzles with no result for Reasoning as it did not let me submit my completed board (twice!)... so I'm done with the tests and was given a picture to print: http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/2012/arg/img8KqZ9/82y7gH.pdf

Is this the same image everyone got? Or are there different images floating out there? For what it's worth, I have already put mine together but can't see anything that stands out as a possible solving point.

yep, that is the same one we all got, as this is supposed to be a clue, but put together, it is a pyramid without a point in the middle.

My guess is that any solve for this has to do with the specific symbols on the pyramid. They look like representations of Mayan glyphs, which makes sense given the context. So we're dealing with images that represent words or phonetic values.

I think you are right,

http://www.dafont.com/font.php?file=mayan has keyboard letters

http://www.omniglot.com/writing/mayan.htm

but nothing really matches what we have

They seem to have something to do with the codecs listed in this link found on IHC's site:

http://www.instituteforhumancontinui...Analysis/Mayan

The site is: http://www.members.shaw.ca/mjfinley/codex.html

Okay, so from what I can see, either we are looking for a phrase or a date. Now some of the glyphs overlap each other. IE " The Gritting teeth big nose one" might have two symbols involved, one laid over the other. Also there is a good description of what the symbols look like and info on
the "5th Codex" which we may have to find to decipher this pyramid we have.

http://movieviral.com/2009/08/possibility-of-more-2012-viral/

what may help is this link which doesn't work here at work

http://www.mayacodices.org/codex2/Madcod.asp they have a searchable database for the symbos. ANYONE have any Ideas??[/img]

This is my first time participating in one of these things, so I'm not going to lie, this is pretty exciting. Okay, so, not all the pictures are the same.

Here's mine.

http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/2012/arg/img8KqZ9/Egu6qf.pdf

There are a few things to point out here. First, the link name Egu6qf could easily be some sort of code. Second, the dots and lines at the bottom of the image are the mayan number for 4, on the previous one posted, it's the mayan number 8. Finally, I don't think anyone has mentioned yet, but notice the little red arrow pointing up on the bottom of the pyramid image. This scream compass point to me. Is it possible that this line is a way to orient the pyramid toward north so that all the symbols face specific directions? Could this mean that the symbols aren't only meaningful as words or numbers, but as directions?

Next, I think it seems pretty clear that what the guy posted in the blog above is spot on. The bottom images seem to be a combination of two of the images on the top of the pyramid. I think this could be why the we're not finding that the symbols mean anything. They're not important for what they represent, just for how they are combined on the bottom of the pyramid.

If we continue forward on my wild speculation, the symbol on the bottom could indicate two symbols on the top, which in turn, indicate two directions, which are then connected with the number on the bottom. It would be NW, SW, 4 SE, NW, 8, or something like that. What could we possible do with two directions and a number?

The only idea I have, and again, I'm wildly grasping at straws here comes from the video posted on the IHC website about finding the 5th codex in Guatemala. In the video, the scientist specifically mentions that the cave that they found the codex is on in the southwest of lake Atitlan. This seemed like a curious detail, so I hung on it. If you look on the page where the video is posted they included two links.

http://www.members.shaw.ca/mjfinley/codex.html

The first makes sense, of course you'd have a page offering background on the codices.

http://www.terraxatitlan.com/map_of_guatemala.htm

The second inclusion is a little more interesting. Why is a map neccessary? It fills out the back story a little bit, but its just random enough to be a some sort of clue.

If you look at the map, there's only thing marked on the coast of Lake Atitlan and it is very clearly to the southwest. Again, this seems like more than mere coincidence.

I typed the name of the town into google, and up came this page.

http://www.santiagoatitlan.com/indexeng.html

With all the above information about the cardinal directions in my head, the heading "Around the lake" totally jumped out at me.

Check out what I found.

http://www.santiagoatitlan.com/Around/around.html

"The placement of the towns around the lake and their names reflects the deeply mystical nature of the Indians; It is all set up as a visual representation of the world as the Maya knew it . The world is set up on the axis of the tree of life, which splits up not only physical space, but also time itself. The different towns were positioned on the special cardinal points, starting with Santiago and proceeding towards Cerro de Oro and on around the lake. The circle also follows the old calendar; 18 months of 20 days each and the 5 special "dead days" that fall miraculously on Easter week. The towns are named because of where their positions are according to the Saints day that corresponds with the date that fits with where the town is (!?)"

I feel like this is just too specific, too connected with the story, and too specific to the puzzle to be coincidence.

My sense is that, as more pictures come in, we'll use the directions from the pyramids to orient our selves somehow around lake atitlan.

What do you guys think? Am I on to something?

Well I think you are on to something, we may not have all the details yet. yes the bottome of our pyramid includes a point, which I also think it is point N.

All the pictures I think are one image laid over the other. So we are both on the right track there. But it may be more complexe. Take a look at the bird picture with three round things underneath it. The figure means one thing, but hte three round balls mean another thing, I think either numbers or a date. So we are getting somewhere, but I don't think the website about the Antilan People is IG, but it may lead us into the right direction. as these symbols have to mean something,.

Does anyone have a completion picture that differs from the two posted? If so, I think it'll need to be before we can move forward with this puzzle.

Tweet from Charlie Frost

Charlie has confirmed there are differences between the pyramids, so there's confirmation: http://twitter.com/CharlieFrost/statuses/3718570426

I think they're in the style of, appropriately enough, dates from one of the two Mayan calendars. I don't know enough about them, but my quick Google crash course seemed to indicate that the Haab calendar has symbols very like the symbols on the bottom.

For instance, the bottom of magnet0's pyramid has a 3 and...well, some other symbol I couldn't place. It sure looks like a Mayan date to me, though.

For simplicity, the 3 images that we currently have. In no particular order. The dots and dashes are Mayan numbers, and so far we have 3, 4, and 8. Another suggestion for what they might represent- the order in which we should arrange the glyphs. Which would mean we're missing quite a few. The one I got was the same as jamesi's.

One other confusing little detail. Why is that mine has two numbers, while the others have the one at the bottom?
