Bear with me here, first poster. I was just wondering if anybody knows why only 3 axons were activated so far today? Is there a specific reason why nobody is catching them? Is it because all the phones that are found and work are used up or something? Just curious.

...Be gentile...I'm a n00b.

I'm sorry, but people YOU HAVE TO SEARCH!!!! I've been posting this I don't know how many times in response to this question.... (no offense dude, just hate repeating info more than 2x....)

NO. *69 does not work. It may even work for some payphones under certain circumstances. But it's been tried for this game, and it's not working. (1) people can block *69 if they want to (for a fee most times) and (2) I'm sure the PMs are smart enough to think of that, and (3) even if they weren't, it doesn't work. Sorry to bite your head off, cuz I know you really didn't know... but if anything let this serve to remind all that the search is your friend... really... no. really. Wait- yup... still your friend. Or is it? Yes it is...

-DM

edit- in your defense and all those who have asked about star sixty-nine, looking up "*69" means "wildcard69" and doesn't return anything useful... if you looked it up and got everything with a 69 in it, I'm sorry, and I retract my statment.

*69 would possibly only apply to SBC-operated phones. Anyone with SBC as their phone service provider would know that dialing *69 MIGHT pick up a missed call if the caller is not blocked.

I'd forget doing *69 in the first place. You mised the call, you go back and try again the next day.

nobodyman, the number changed?! Shocked Well, that explains it, huh! Laughing Well, I guess the hunt is on to track down the pesky 11:05 phone.

I'm gonna go for the ultimate long shot and see if I can somehow, possibly, find 602-956-1589 in the phonebook... probably impossible, and stupid to try, but what the hey.

(edit: or not. O_O)

Not answering something like this just contributes to the overall piles of repetitive posts that we are TRYING TO AVOID!

(For reference, please read the entire 110 page thread on the axons in this forum. Then come back and tell me why we shouldn't ask people to do some basic research before posting repetitive information and questions.)

So yes, please [search]. Repeatedly.

Thank you, Dorkmaster.

I don't think you should take it personally, he's probably just annoyed (rightly so) that about half of all new posts are about something that was discovered/discussed days or weeks ago: people writing stuff about how the "killer" pictures have hidden words, crap about swords and Charlemagne, did you know Dana has a blog, OMG do u think therez a HALO 2 d3m0!, etc. If you stick with it for a few weeks, you'll understand, I'm sure.

Washington DC update
INCyr and I visited the 13:02 site this afternoon with no luck. Here is the current phone map:

The red star is the coordinate, there are no phones at that location or inside the triangular Federal Trade Commision building on that block. There are 2 pay phones at the corner; one has been ripped out and the other does not ring. There are also two phones inside the metro; one has no dial tone and the other was in use (INCyr checked this one today). There is one phone in the Naval Heritage Center, it does not ring (I checked this one today).

There are no phones "in front of the Federal Trade Commission
building at Constitution Ave and 6th Street NW (202) 289-9396 289-9527" as reported on the payphone project site (INCyr and I checked both Constitution and 7 and Constitution and 6). The only options I see are the in-use phone in the metro, the "inside of the National Archives" phone, or a broken/missing phone.

To remove all doubt, it's still about the payphones, and they are still ringing (or at least the one at "troy" was).

Here's what happened there (13:19). The payphone is right behind Starbucks (7711 Beach Blvd), and even its address is the same. There were, I think, 6 or 7 people; we spread out to cover the nearby payphones, but this ^ phone is the one that ended up ringing.

The guy that picked it up heard a bunch of noise and voices, that he said sounded like the "ilovebees" soundclips; then he listened to a recording of what he describes as "two girls arguing", and it sounded like one of Melissa's rants, he said. Then everything just went dead, and he said "what?" or "hello?" or something, and got told "You don't who I am. You are not worthy..." or something. He says that prior to that he didn't hear any question at all (nothing about a name or a nickname or anything else for that matter), or anything that would have indicated a need for response. Then everything went really dead.

We sighed, but about a minute later it rang again. That time I picked it up, and there were about 2 seconds of static; when it ended I said "yoohoo, are you there?" and then probably mumbled something about the Operator, and then they hung up.

It is possible that the second call was not the PMs, but one of the players, though, just calling that phone (a few minutes later the phone next to it rang, and someone asked us where we were).

Sorry that we missed it Sad Maybe someone will hear a keyword, or a question, or will otherwise figure out what to do at the next two?

P.S. I actually wrote this in reply to this thread, and then figured it belongs here instead.

At any rate, there's been absolutely no one to my knowledge to answer the phone at the 37.116303 -76.464415 (1km South of Hidenwood, near Hampton, VA [edit: "Reflected"]) *snip*

Status update: Not a dang thing happened. The payphone in question seemed to be not functioning correctly, probably due to a problem with the receiver's cord (it was frayed). We also stationed 2 guys at the Kroger's Grocery Store and the Gas Station nearby, in case the GPS coordinates were not 100% correct, but at 3:53 EDT (12:53PDT) there was no rings at any of these payphones. We'll have pics uploaded and possibly some video as soon as we can.

It is the same as the procedure for the previous 119. See:
