Hmmm

Could this have to do with The War of the Worlds, or the author?

I was looking into this. It seems interesting. Tomorrow's the 15th! ^^ Maybe we'll see something.

So at least the german google has changed (it is already the 15th here):

There is the following new google logo leading to pages of Kornkreise (crop circles).

This time the "l" is missing and the image is called "goog_e.gif"

Google has just tweeted the following number:

51.327629, -0.5616088

If you treat this as lat/long and put it into Google Maps you get the following address in the UK:

1-7 Woodham Rd Woking, Surrey

I reckon they are going somewhere with this.

The coordinates are a block from the location where the martians landed in the original War of the Worlds, and one mile from the HG Wells Convention Center. HG Wells birthday is coming up on the 20th..

The first one intrigued me, this one even more so. HUZZAH for global corporations picking somewhere in the UK to co-ordinate (haha).

Don't suppose anyone lives in Surrey and can go LOOK at that address, hmm? Surrey is a bit far for me.

It seems to be quite well put together. Looking forward to the last etter reveal.

Anyone familiar with the area? It looks upper-class in Google Earth...
Nothing of interest in the GE extras (Gallery, Places of Interest, etc).
It is in a relatively boring are of the town (unless you count the nearby south-bound bus stop for routes 73, 472 and 675 Wink)

This looks like a good formulation:
telegraph.co.uk wrote:
Diabolik posted one theory on Twitter: "The War of the Worlds (1898), by H. G. Wells, based in Horsell Common north of Woking, was an early science fiction novel which describes an invasion of England by aliens from Mars. It is one of the earliest and best-known depictions of an alien invasion."
"H.G. Wells birthday is Sept 21. This is a 'lead-up' as was Sept 5th logo," tweeted Joshgjohnson.

Clicking on it leads to a search about criop circles.
And this site was first to come up. http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/blog/2009/sep/15/google-crop-circles

The Guardian are probably guessing; I highly doubt they know Google's agenda.

Since the first was on the 5th and the second on the 15th, wouldn't it make more sense for the next 'event' to be on the 25th?

The co-ordinates could just be an oblique alien-related reference, like the the "all your o are belong to us" from the 5th.

I think another event will happen on the 27th. Here's my rationale:

I realized (via Mechanical Animals, etc.) that "O" is the 15th letter in the English alphabet. The date of the second event was predicted by the first. (I don't know if this is how Chaos predicted it back on the 7th but I don't that he mentioned this).
Also notable is the fact that the $11.11 registration fee at unexplainedphenomenon.org is equivalent to (decimal)15 in binary (1111).
And Google was incorporated 11 years ago on Sep. 4, 1998 (I can't take credit for noticing this one; got it from here: http://tucsoncitizen.com/paranormal/2009/09/06/the-unexplained-phenomenon-of-1111and-googles-1111-too/)
I tried to extrapolate the pattern given that the "L" is now missing; Sep. 12th wouldn't make sense but 12+15=27.

Material on googleunexplainephenomenon.com reinforces this theory.

The text of the letter the site supposedly received from unexplainedphenomenon.com is pretty obviously tongue-in-cheek and there are commented-out paragraphs in the source; this is PM-produced. One link to adthemup.com is two lines of text at the bottom of the article section and above the comment section, which read:

1+1=3?
+AdThemUp.com

Which suggests that adding the two letter-values is indeed the right thing to do.

There's a post on googleunexplainephenomenon.com by a user named "jimbo" who posed the same theory, and pointed out things I hadn't thought of:

Yeah it's weird. I think this site has something to do with the whole thing.

A while ago Google did a recruitment drive using billboards that said on them:
{first 10-digit prime found in consecutive digits of e}.com (http://labnol.blogspot.com/2006/05/cryptic-google-recruitment-billboard.html)

I'm wondering if AdThemUp.com is a subtle hint. If so what are we supposed to be adding? I've tried a lots of combinations of adding messages google have given us. So far no success. I did "O" + "L" = 12 + 15 = www.27.com. Which is a google shell, but as far as I can tell it's not related directly to google. Also 9+9+9 = 27.

And on this page there is the following:
1 + 1 = 3?
+AdThemUp.com

The only way I can think of to get 3 from 1 + 1 is if "+" is a concatenation of binary strings. I.e: "1" + "1" = "11" = 3 in binary. www.11.com leads to CERN.

It would help if we knew exactly what to add up.

I even tried cheating by finding a list of all domains registered to google, they had a few that were all numeric. But they were either not active or they led to google.com. That being said the lists were old. So maybe if somebody finds a more recent list they can cheat their way to an answer.

Anyway I'm about to decomple the login.swf from the AdThemUp.com. It'd usually be illegal, but since it's copylefted and not copyrighted I feel safe.

I bet there are a bunch of Googlers pissing themselves laughing right now.

Someone's reply to the above, which was apparently edited by the site administrators under the name "Will Smith":

As far as Googlers pissing themselves right about now, I definitely agree Smile

Earlier, there was also this message from "Normal person":

Hi!

Why people need to complicate easy things? Because, they want to believe that live it's more interesting and they always want to see what their like to see...So, they never see the true and monotone real face of life... That's happens today again, when a lot of people try to explain a symbol that means nothings that all and it's to see their reaction because all people forget that yesterday was the 11th birthday of the opening of Google headquarters. And nobody remember... So now that play like when we forget the birthday of someone...

Good Luck and stop to dramatize for no intelligent things

One of several such comments about above "Normal person":

Hey, is it just me, or have you been seeing 'normal person''s exact same comment on just about every page talking about this?

Could 'Normal Person' be a Google employee sending another hidden message in his posts?

And later this, by "Normal Person" (note capitalized "P"):

I think Phi is probably intentional misdirection here, but maybe not.

I think this is pretty neat.
