Although based on current events heating all present axons isn't a prerequisite for the game advancing, so I'm not sure whether or not this has any ultimate significance.

Are we sure that one of the other original axons didn't ALSO go hot to increase the count?

Actually it does prove that there will be additional axons for us to find beyond the ones on the links page and that they do contribute to the overall total. True, it does not appear we will need all 777, but it is significant to note that "recipt" was worthy of adding a point. Kinda makes it "official."

I think it's always a "Good Thing (tm)" when you have a map:
Aliendial or INCyr, did either of you try ringing up the phone afterward to test it? I asked neaby restaurant employees about payphones in the area, and they described the general llocation of another payphone.

Aliendial said she tested it before I got there. I have no reason to believe she didn't so I didn't bother to test it myself.

YES I TESTED IT. OH YE OF LITTLE FAITH. IT RINGS, AND NOT EVEN ONE OF THOSE LITTLE CHIRPY RINGS BUT A PROPER PHONE RING.

Wow... come on Danin... I think you're being a little too cautious here... while yes, we did get a little further in the game (not much, and you know it...) we obviously have to continue lighting axons... and why? because even this receipt one has "AXON HOT" under it. It's still an axon. Secret or not. (and do you really expect the princess to just hand us 4 more axons every couple of days until we hit 777? I mean, that would take almost a year, if not more. It's obvious at this point that we MUST try to light all axons possible. If not possible, it's our duty to report (in the best fashion possible) a detailed reason why it was impossible. This way "Metawise" the PMs can see why we're having such a hard time and whether to move or cancel the axon. "In-Game" it gives us a reason to email Dana, the SP or whatever that we've tried and it didn't work. It's up to the PMs then to work it into the story after that...

I understand not wanting to come out and say "Obviously we need to hit all axons" cuz I know it's not OBVIOUS, but I'm going to step out on a limb here and say this:

It's everything but spelled out now that we have to try and activate all axons. If we do not, we either will not progress to the next step or we will not get as cool of a next step (or ending) that we could.

For example, IN HALO, (dum dum DUMMMM!!) if you beat the game with easy mode, you don't get nearly as cool and extended of an ending as you do by beating it in legendary mode... The more difficulty we take on, the more satisfying the ending will be. Either content-wise or self-respect wise... I guarantee it. Any, now that I can tell from my view high atop this soapbox that it's getting late. So I will stop speechifyin, and get on to axon huntin.

edited to correctly spell resceept. Recsiept. REESEEPT. (I, before E, except after C...) Rolling Eyes

But who says there are only going to be 777 axons? Each group of 7 on the fun page only required 2 live avons, so they were all labelled x/2. So it could well be that we need 777 axons out of some number larger than 777.

Do we know what made San Antonio successful?

Following Dorkmaster's thought, legendary mode for beekeepers will involve us physically finding 777 phones? Of which about 10% will be in the DC area (if the same proportions continue to apply)? Gaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh!

If you are members of other forums, go see if anyone is claiming credit elsewhere. It may not have been unfiction-ers who got that one.

Are there any Admins or mods in San antonio? I'm just curious, cuz we've got D.C. where Aliendial is. We've got SB (scott baio? NO! SpaceBass!) in Portland. And... uh... maybe I don't have such a good spec anyway...

edit - sorry SpaceBass... I don't know why comparing you to Scott Baio has been funny to me since day one. Don't be offended... I think it has more to do with Scott Baio being funny than it is because of anything about you...

Edit- Scott Baio, if you're playing, don't be offended either. Laughing

Who's to say an axon can't be re-used and added to the total later in the game? Melissa is trying to find her crew this phase, and after that, maybe give them instructions via the 210 (214?) axons that went hot? It could be that everytime she connects with her crew via the phonelines (with a new message) we get one step closer to 777. Again, just spec.

(edited for clarity)

Wow, I'm post-happy today... Ok: Well this is trout.

(a non-offensive term meaning: "this has already been discussed. Thanks for playing.")

The "hot" axons have already been determined to NOT ring again. It's always possible that later in the game those points may be reactivated, but I am certain we would get some clue to that being the case.
