Washington DC update 2
INCyr and I visited the 13:02 site this afternoon with no luck. Here is the current phone map:

The red star is the coordinate, there are no phones at that location or inside the triangular Federal Trade Commision building on that block. There are 2 pay phones at the corner; one has been ripped out and the other does not ring at the appropriate time (but it works). There are also two phones inside the metro; one has no dial tone and the other was in use (INCyr checked this one today). There is one phone in the Naval Heritage Center, it does not ring (I checked this one today).

There are no phones "in front of the Federal Trade Commission
building at Constitution Ave and 6th Street NW (202) 289-9396 289-9527" as reported on the payphone project site (INCyr and I checked both Constitution and 7 and Constitution and 6). The only options I see are the in-use phone in the metro, the "inside of the National Archives" phone (which needs to be located), or a broken/missing phone.

I'm going to give the 2 cold Seattle axons a try in the morning.
47.617222, -122.321944 9:23am parasites
47.619722, -122.319167 10:38am durga

Maybe I'll be able to coordinate with Sphyx. Either way, I'll post an update tomorrow.

I'm going to try to activate the Spencer, WV axon tomorrow, if I can.

The cold CT axons

Sorry if this isn't the place for it, but I'm a lurker with a question:
Perchance is there anyone still trying to activate the Connecticut axons? I haven't heard the story as to why all three are still cold. I would go out myself, but I rather lack a car- and they're two hours away.
If there's any interested beekeepers located at UConn or in the general area, especially ones with cars, we could get an expedition (or three) going to go nail these axons. Any takers?

Even though I activated the Memphis Axon today, I have heard so many people ask what happens if you go to an Axon that has already gone HOT. So, I am thinking about checking to see if the Memphis Axon still rings tomorrow. What do you guys think?

Hope this is the best place to post this. I surveyed around the Palo Alto location - not extremely carefully - but somewhat carefully.

On the atached map, you'll notice a few things.

0 - A blue dot, signifying the actual GPS coordinates (Actually - and this is INTERESTING - it appears that some od crosshairs appear at the location - I've never seen this on Mapquest before - does anyone know if it means anything?) - anyhow, everybody that went can tell you the area is residential, so unless the phone is in someones backyard....

1 & 2 - Red dots - there are 2 payphones here - one at the Lucille Stern center, one at the Junior Museum - both dont receive incoming calls (tested)

3- green dot - theres a payphone at Castilleja School that DOES receive incoming calls (tested) - but as you can see, its a bit far from the GPS coords - I doubt the coords would be THAT innacurate, but I guess you never know...

Anyhow, so thats the Palo Alto report... dont know if there are any phones I missed - anyhow though, thought I'd post this map for reference (and any PMs....:p)

Don't -- I tried it already. No callback if already hot.

That was some pretty good detail there NDL! My bro and I decided to head into the city from New Jersey tomorrow, Saturday, even though it seems like you already cased the joint pretty thoroughly. But perhaps we will meet up with you at 11:08 or 12:20, even if the phones don't ring!

Cold Axons, dead ends, creepy coincidences

There is a particularily strange situation at this location:

Layton, Utah

Say_something
12:32 PDT
41.075674 -111.972729

This location lead me here:

mapquest link

And I ended up right in front of this:

That's a telephone pole, ladies and gents, in a residential area.

So far I've only seen one previous post that is similar to this.

the42guy wrote:

So I ran around a bit trying to find any signs of a payphone. I went into a nearby bank and nothing.

Well, I stood where the coords told me to be and as the time came I almost expected my cell to ring. But the time came and went and nothing happened.

Now, this is where the extremely weird coincdences start occuring.
I looked around a bit and I looked at the map and thought about what it could be leading to. Assuming the location could be a puzzle in itself, I looked for any possible clues that might lead me to somwhere else.

I examined the telephone pole right in front of the house. I was ultimately creeped out when I saw this:

The guy that lives in the house right came out onto his front porch. I went up and asked him why the choords were right over his house. He had -no- clue what was going on.

He told me that since aug 24th there had been people coming to that corner and just waiting. He even said someone asked him if he loved bees.. xD

Well, I explained to him what was going on so he wasn't so lost as to why all these people keep showing up on his street corner. Then I noticed something else.

His address:

huge image

What number is missing from that number pattern? Yeah.. x__X;;

So I pointed that out to the guy after explaining the whole deal with the numerology. Now -he- was getting weirded out, especially when I showed him the telephone pole's serial number.

After I left I went across the street to a Wendy's and got something to eat. As I was eating another question started running through my mind:

Why in the sam hell are there so many locations in Utah?

That's when I saw a street sign with the number of state road. You know how each state has some shape that the number is in?

Well, in Utah, SRs are represented by a number within a shape of a Beehive.

They call Utah the Beehive state. There are fskin bees on the state seal. Now that was just even creepier. I think at about this time I'm getting anxiety.

So I get back on the freeway and as I'm heading down south I notice what Exit number that exit is to get to the coordinates.

Exit 334.

(I remind you all of 343 Guilty Spark.)

To me, thats another red flag to another crazy coincidence. I am seriously flipping out by now. Thats three numerology coincidences at a location where there are no payphones within 200 feet of the coordinates.

As I'm driving down the free way, I'm thinking about this location:

Salt Lake City, UT 'Sugar House' area.

This was the second one on 'Parasites"

mapquest link

That star is -right- over a Barnes and Noble. I went the second day and figured it couldn't be Barnes and Noble so it had to be the payphone right outside it at a bus stop. Well, it didn't ring at all. Went the third, nothing either.

I met up with a guy at another SLC location and he said he activated the one in sugar house. I was like, HOW THE CRAP????

The call came through a telephone -inside- barnes & noble. It was -not- a payphone.

So as I'm driving home from the Layton location I'm thinking... Is this a puzzle location or did someone screw up bigtime?

I couldn't ignore the three numerology coincidences, that was just freaking me out too much.

Later I went to the last SLC location that day:

Emergency
17:43 PDT
40.733364 -111.899509

rand mcnally link

The X is right over a gas station. There is a working payphone present that does recieve incoming calls. (Tested with cell.)

I went there twice. Met up with the same guy I met earlier who got the one at Barnes & Noble. He said it hadn't rang the past 2 days. Well, we waited and the time came and went.

As we're about to leave, I realize where we are at:

The corner of 1700 S and 300 West.

... seriously.. wtf?

The phone may come in through inside the gas station itself. I'm going to try it out tomorrow and see for sure.

But in any case, the Layton coordinates are just confusing the crap out of me. I'm not saying that those three coincidences are solid clues of anything, I just noticed these things as I was studying the area. Three coincidences at one area with no payphone anywhere. That's just really weird.

What do you guys think about all of this?

(P.S. Sorry this is really long, but I needed to get all the details in.)

Edit: To embed many way-too-long URLs and to convert the HUGE image to a link. That was like totally unnecessary, dude. -SpaceBass

12:35 Axon

If anyone is in the Kansas City, Missouri area, and wants to get the 12:35 Axon, I have finally figured out where the phone is located. It is at the AMC Independence Commons theater. The GPS Coords were showing the phone quite a bit from there.

I did a search on www.payphone-directory.org and looked for payphones on 39th street in Independence, MO. I then took the address that it showed on there are went to geocode.com and got the exact same gps coords as what is on the links page.

In Response to Crisko RE: Coincidence

Hey Crisko,

Although I think that the house number is pretty cool, the stuff like the telephone pole serial# etc is just pure coincedence.

The human brain is designed to search out patterns. Just because numbers contain the digit 7 or 3 does not mean that they are bungied. Heck 7 and 3 are 1/5 (20%) of the digits. Something like 300 St @ 700 Ave (I know yours is 1700), now that it pretty strange, but to just spot the digit in a string of numbers is not that amazing.

Now I don't mean to put your specs down (I doubt I would have noticed some of those pretty cool patters Shocked ), I just don't want people to freak out everytime they see a 7.

Lol, don't worry. Like I said I'm not saying that these are solid clues or anything, I just wanted to bring up my observations of these coincidences. I mean, to end up at a place like that and see all of these coincidences is really -really- weird. x.x;

But still.. Beehive state. Wouldn't you be a little weirded out if you saw your state flag and the first thing you see is a beehive with bee's all over the place? xD

Hi there. First time caller, long-time listener...

Crisko, this is probably an incredibly stoopid question, BUT... you didn't happen to ask the guy who owned the house if he'd just received a freaky phone call, did you? This may be trout, but I seem to remember reading somewhere about one axon call being received in a--I want to say a Borders?--on a phone that was NOT on payphone. While IcyMidnight is probably right about coincidences, the strange house number sequence has my spidey sense tingling nonetheless...

Er, granted, given your already-odd conversation, the guy probably would have mentioned such a phone call, but... okay, I did preface this by admitting up-front that it was a stoopid question, yes?

Haha

I was -very- blunt about the conversation with the guy, it didn't happen -exactly- like that.

It was more like 'I'm playing this game and I'm supposed to recieve a phone call from a payphone at this location' *points to map* 'but those coordinates are right on your house. Any idea why?'

If anything that conversation helped that guy out a lot because he's been seeing people in front of his house ever since the 24th... xD

But yes I did ask if he had gotten a phone call and he said that he hadn't.

Darkphan,

I went to the say_something 12:35 axon on 8/27. Using thepayphone.org site and the geocode site, I found that the Independence 20 Theaters matched the GPS coordinates exactly. When I got there, there were already 4 other guys staking the phones out. We waited until the time came and went. No phone call. All of the phones were marked with no incoming calls accepted.

Since the phone never rang, I decided to take a look around the shopping center. The only other phone that I found was a payphone outside of Fazoli's. I called it, and it wouldn't accept incoming calls.

Realizing I never tried calling the phones at the theater, I went back to call them. There are 6 payphones at the theater. Four in the outside lobby (where you buy your tickets), and two in the inside lobby. I called all six phones. Only one took an incoming call. The phone that took the incoming call was one of the 4 in the outside lobby. It was in the right (East) bank of phones. The phone # that worked was XXX.XXX.1989

EDIT: When the phone rang, it was extremely quiet. It's possible that the guy staking out that phone didn't hear it. Just a heads-up for anyone who might try and get this axon.

I will not be able to make it to this location today 8/28. If the axon isn't activated today, I will try and make it there Sunday.

I have attached a map of the area.

Edited for clarification, and to add the note about the phone.
