 Tips for Posting!

Hello all,

I just wanted to address a situation we've been having a lot lately. I know a lot of us in Hallucinine are new ARG players, whether we've only lurked in the past, or this is our very first journey into ARGdom. So I wanted to give a few helpful tips in posting in threads directly relating to puzzles or discoveries.

A lot of times, especially when puzzles or trails that a PM leaves are difficult, people aren't going to find the answer right off the bat.. or perhaps at all. Sometimes people are just there to lurk, and aren't really actively playing, but still want to be apart of the game. Sometimes you're just lucky enough to stumble upon something that someone else missed. It's important that when we make discoveries or find answers that we show just how exactly we got them.

For instance, a lot of the pages we've found, we just end up posting the URL to the page. That's helpful and all, but it leaves a lot of people confused as to how you've stumbled on that page! Not only are people confused, but sometimes it makes people feel excluded, like they're missing out on something.

It's not hard to do a little extra typing to say "I looked through xxxx.htm on the hallucinine site and the picture now links to yyy.html" instead of just saying, "New page yyy.html"

And for a little extra credit, if you think people will want to figure out something for themselves, all you have to do is add spoiler tags around the thing you think people might not want to know! For instance...

Quote:
New page found!

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I was looking through page xxxx.html and the picture now links to yyy.html

Simple right?

I think if we kept this is mind, it would save a lot of confusion in other threads. Smile Not only that, but people who read this thread later will be able to catch up a whole lot easier. And people that didn't understand a particular puzzle before will be able to learn how to do those kinds of puzzles for future ARGs!
